New Photos For Guilermo del Toro's FRANKENSTEIN Reveal Jacob Elordi as the Monster and Haunting New Details — GeekTyrant
Guillermo del Toro's take on Frankenstein is coming to life, and the first look at the highly anticipated Netflix film has arrived thanks to Vanity Fair, giving fans a haunting tease of what's to come. With a powerhouse cast and a visionary filmmaker at the helm, this remake is shaping up to be one of the most exciting monster movies in years and I can't wait to finally watch it! This movie has been a long time coming. The newly released photos give us our first glimpse at Jacob Elordi in his role as Frankenstein's Monster. In one image, Elordi's Creature is cloaked and masked, hiding his grotesque form from the world. In another, he's hunched and subdued, while Oscar Isaac's Dr. Victor Frankenstein appears to be working on his tormented creation. Behind the scenes, Guillermo del Toro can be seen guiding the actors through the intense moment. Elordi's full look is still under wraps, but the monster's final form sounds absolutely wild. As del Toro describes it, 'the creature resembles a marble statue from antiquity that has been shattered and fused back together.' Elordi joked that he missed out on the gnarly creation scene, saying, 'I think that's the one day I didn't shoot.' The film isn't just going for scares and spectacle. Del Toro is digging into the emotional core of Mary Shelley's Gothic tale, specifically its overlooked themes of family dysfunction. 'It's parents and children,' Elordi explains. 'Fathers and sons, particularly.' Del Toro expands on this idea, drawing a line from Frankenstein to his other works. 'These are the parallels between Pinocchio and Frankenstein,' he says. 'It's the idea of a person going from a baby to a human being in a short span of time and being exposed to everything—cold, warmth, violence, love, loss. 'And then going to his creator to say, 'Why? Why did you put me here? Why didn't you give me the answers? What do I have to learn in my suffering?'' Del Toro even compares his creature's suffering to that of Job from the Bible. 'Job is saying to God, 'Why do bad things happen to good people?' And God is answering very, very biblically: 'Who the fuck are you to ask me a question?'' he says, laughing. As for Dr. Frankenstein, Isaac's version is cold and unforgiving, shaped by a brutal upbringing courtesy of his own father, played by Charles Dance. Del Toro explains, 'The movie is trying to articulate that the father becomes his father to his son without realizing it.' That toxic cycle explodes into tragedy, as the monster turns on his creator in a final confrontation that leads to bloodshed and a chilling journey into an icy wilderness. Rounding out the all-star cast are Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christoph Waltz, Christian Convery, and Ralph Ineson. Frankenstein is shaping up to be a visually stunning, emotionally resonant, and terrifying reimagining of one of horror's most iconic stories. And if these new images are any indication, del Toro's creature is going to haunt our nightmares. The movie is expected to debut on Netflix later this fall.

Peter Sarsgaard Says 'The Bride' Is "Controversial"
We've seen some interesting cinematic reinterpretations of classic monsters in the last few years, and that includes the upcoming movie The Bride from director Maggie Gyllenhaal. The upcoming monster movie is an adaptation of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel Frankenstein with influences from the 1935 movie Bride of Frankenstein , and according to star Peter Sarsgaard, the film will be 'controversial.' Sarsgaard, who is married to Gyllenhaal, stars in the movie alongside the likes of Jessie Buckley as Frankenstein's bride and Christian Bale as Frankenstein's monster. While speaking with Deadline, he dropped some interesting details about the film, which will be a crime story set in the 1930s. Here's how he opened his statement about The Bride being controversial: 'I'm going to say that it's going to be controversial,' Sarsgaard plainly begins. 'I mean, it's very punk. It's very radical in some ways, and the main characters in it are very imperfect. It's also a love story, basically. It's about the monster in all of us.' There have been rumors regarding the project in the past, including reports that it could be a musical, which Sarsgaard denied. However, he did admit that there was some dancing involved in the film, and he had this to say on that front: 'I will certainly dance if given the opportunity,' he laughs. 'I'm known as the first one on and the last one off the dance floor. I shake it until my moneymaker's wet.' In addition to Buckley, Bale, and Sarsgaard, The Bride also stars Penélope Cruz, Annette Bening, Julianne Hough, John Magaro, Jeannie Berlin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Linda Emond, Louis Cancelmi, and Matthew Maher. In addition to directing the film, Gyllenhaal also wrote the screenplay, which was produced for a budget of $80 million at Warner Bros. It'll certainly be interesting to see how the picture pans out, especially if it's as 'controversial' as Sarsgaard suggests. Of course, he most likely means that as a compliment, which adds another interesting layer to what Gyllenhaal must be cooking with this new take on Frankenstein . The Bride is currently scheduled to hit theaters early next year on March 6, 2026. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the film as we have them.

How the New T. Rex in JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH Is Different From the Orignal — GeekTyrant
For over 30 years, the T. Rex we've known in the Jurassic Park franchise has been Rexy, the towering, thunderous icon of Isla Nublar who walked straight out of our dinosaur dreams and into movie history. But with Jurassic World Rebirth , the filmmakers are rewriting the rulebook on what a Tyrannosaurus Rex can be, and it introduces us to a whole new T. Rex. This new take on the king (or queen) of the dinosaurs is a fresh breed. According to Rebirth director Gareth Edwards ( Godzilla, Rogue One ), 'The original Jurassic Park T. Rex is one actor. Now here's another one.' Edwards wants fans to see this new Rex like a different performer in the same franchise, Robert De Niro to Rexy's Al Pacino. So what sets her apart? The new T. Rex is described as 'bigger, beefier, and even surlier' a meaner, more monstrous take on the Tyrannosaur than any version we've seen before. While its bulk and posture echo the 1997 Lost World Bull T. Rex toy from Kenner. Edwards had another major influence in mind, the stop-motion beasts of The Valley of Gwangi , brought to life by animation legend Ray Harryhausen. Unlike Rexy, whose design in Jurassic Park was rooted in paleo-accuracy thanks to artist Mark McCreery and paleontological input, this new Rex ditches the museum and heads straight into monster movie mythology. Edwards explained: 'We looked at some of the designs in Ray Harryhausen's films, like The Valley of Gwangi. This new T. rex is kind of how, as a kid, I always thought a T. rex would look. I'm super happy with it.' There's even a nod to Jurassic Park 's literary roots. Writer David Koepp, who penned the original films and returned for Rebirth , revealed that the new film finally includes the infamous river-rafting T. Rex attack, which was lifted directly from Michael Crichton's novel and scrapped from the 1993 film. 'Both Steven [Spielberg] and I said, 'Hey, now we can do it,'' Koepp said. 'When I was re-reading the novel, I told him, 'Yeah, it's as good as we remember. We have to have this.'' In the film, 'The planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. 'The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.' The movie stars Scarlett Johansson as Zora Bennett, Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis, and Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid. The film is set five years after the events of Dominion , 'in which dinosaurs mingled with humans all over the globe, these creatures are now dying out. 'The present-day planet proved to be inhospitable to the prehistoric ilk, except for a small region in the tropics around the equator, where many of them now congregate. 'The three most colossal dinosaurs of land, sea, and air within this biosphere hold genetic material precious to a pharmaceutical company that hopes to use the dino DNA to create a life-saving drug for humanity.' Universal Pictures will release the Steven Spielberg-produced film in theaters on July 2, 2025. Via: Empire Magazine
