Twin Lamborghinis seized in central London supercar crackdown
Millions of pounds worth of luxury vehicles have been seized by the Metropolitan Police to curb dangerous driving in central seized 72 vehicles worth an estimated £6m, including identical purple Lamborghinis, in a three-day operation across Hyde Park, Kensington and were issued with tickets for a variety of motoring offences, including driving with no insurance, no driving licence, disqualification, false documentation and the use of fraudulent number also recovered several stolen vehicles and made eight arrests for a range of offences including a man who was wanted for actual bodily harm (ABH) and criminal damage. One of the two drivers had been in the country for two hours and had been driving for 15 minutes before the car was seized, the Motor Insurers' Bureau of the seized vehicles had been brought to the UK from abroad, with drivers using motor insurance from their home countries without verifying whether the policy provided coverage in the UK, the organisation added. Andy Trotter, from the Motor Insurers' Bureau said: "Someone is hit by an uninsured driver every 20 minutes in the UK, someone is seriously injured by an uninsured driver every day and one person will lose their lives to an uninsured driver every week." One driver who was stopped by police officers told BBC London: "Apparently the car came up without insurance on this registration."It was my mistake because I changed it two days ago. "On DVLA it wasn't automatically swapped from the original reg number to the personalised one, and my mistake was not to call the insurance and declare the new reg with them." Special Chief Officer James Deller, from the Met's Special Constabulary, said the operation was in response to concerns from residents and businesses that high-value vehicles were "causing a nuisance" in central and west London. Seven men and one woman were arrested during the operation:A 22-year-old man who was arrested for ABH and criminal damageA 25-year-old man, who was later charged for possession of a Class B drugA 27-year-old man was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle and released under investigationA 23-year-old man was arrested for theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, no insurance, no driving licence and drug drivingThree men, aged 26, 35 and 39, and a 23-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences. Last year's operation saw £60m worth of vehicles seized, including a McLaren, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Ferrari and Lamborghini, mostly due to a lack of insurance.

County Tyrone: Man in court over viable devices found in Moy
A man has appeared in court charged in connection with the discovery of a number of viable devices at a house in Moy in County McCann, 30, of Oakfield Gardens in Moy, is charged with possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances relating to a security alert in the town on 8 August is further charged with several motoring offences on the same before Enniskillen Magistrates' Court on Monday, the accused spoke only to confirm he understood the charges against him. Road safety blitz nets dozens of offenders on Bury New Road
A large-scale police traffic operation took place on Tuesday (July 29) along Bury New Road in Whitefield, targeting a range of motoring offences. Led by the Whitefield Neighbourhood Policing Team, the operation involved officers working alongside the DVLA, the Road Policing Unit, and around 20 Police Community Support Officers. Officers were stationed throughout the day and into the evening, stopping vehicles and checking for a wide array of traffic violations. Preparing for the traffic operation in Whitefield (Image: NQ) Sergeant Damieon Hartley-Pickles of the Whitefield Neighbourhood Team, explaining the rationale behind the operation, said: 'The purpose of the traffic operation was to try to keep the streets and roads of Bury safe. "Specifically, this part of Whitefield where the trunk road brings a lot of traffic. 'We are making sure that people are abiding by road traffic legislation, checking such things as they are wearing seatbelts, not using mobile phones, or using red diesel.' For example, not wearing seatbelts, using a mobile phone whilst driving and not sticking to the prescribed speed limit. 'I want to remind everyone that a collision can happen in a split second, and this operation seeks to raise awareness, and ensure members of the public and drivers of these vehicles are aware of these dangers. 'Enforcement and prosecution are important tactics we can use to help make the roads a safer place, but Tuesday's operation was also about educating as many people as possible.' Police have confirmed that further operations are planned in other areas of Bury as part of ongoing efforts to promote safer driving and reduce road-related harm.

Drink-driver was banned when he refused to stop for police after crash
A DRINK driver who had been banned from getting behind the wheel was caught despite refusing to stop for police after a crash. Callum Darch, 26, from Hampshire, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates' Court charged with six motoring offences. Darch was accused of getting behind the wheel of a Peugeot 3008 on the B4341 at Broad Haven on June 22. It was alleged that he was disqualified from driving at the time, meaning he would have also been uninsured. Darch was also accused of crashing on the B4341, but then driving off. He was further charged with failing to stop when required by a police officer, and dangerous driving along Haroldston Hill. When breathalysed, he recorded having 54 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35. Darch, of St Blaize Road in Romsey, pleaded guilty to all charges on June 24. The magistrates declined jurisdiction of the case, and sent it on to Swansea Crown Court. Darch will appear for sentence on July 15 and was granted bail until that date.

Child seriously injured 'in quad bike hit-and-run': Two teenagers arrested after youngster 'was ploughed into while riding scooter on pavement'
Two teenage boys have been arrested after a child was 'ploughed into' by a quad bike in a hit and run crash. Essex Police were called to Aydon Close in Wickford just after 3pm on Saturday March 22 following reports of the collision. The child had been riding a push style scooter on the pavement at the time and suffered a serious leg injury, which was thankfully non-life threatening. Following an investigation, a 16-year-old and 15-year-old were arrested this morning in Essex, with the case still ongoing. The teenagers were arrested on suspicion of multiple motoring offences including causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, failing to report an accident and driving other than in accordance with a licence. At the time, witnesses said the quad bike had briefly stopped before driving off towards Wickford town centre, Basildon Echo reports. They have since been released under investigation and police enquiries continue.
