A MAKOR motorway has shut after a lorry burst into flames sparking hour-long delays and seven miles of congestion. Emergency services rushed to the M26 at around 2pm today to reports of the fire. 2 2 The blaze, which erupted close to junction 22 for Rishworth Moor, West Yorkshire, has sparked huge delays with drivers told to take alternative routes. Motorists have been urged to avoid the area as three lanes are currently closed until junction 21 for Milnrow. National Highways warned of delays of up to 75 minutes and seven miles of congestion eastbound between Junction 22 and Junction 24. It's believed the fire was caused by an oil spillage, which is being now being tended to. The operator said: "The M62 in West Yorkshire is CLOSED eastbound between J22 (Denshaw) and J24 (Huddersfield) due to a lorry fire. "Emergency services are in attendance. More information to follow soon. Thanks for your patience if you're held up." A spokesperson from the West Yorkshire Fire Service said: 'We were called at 13.49 to reports of a large vehicle on fire on the M62 – JCT 22/23 Eastbound. 'We have two crews at the scene who have extinguished a cab and trailer on fire, with no reports of injuries.'

M25 closed following police incident

A section of the M25 was closed on the Kent/Surrey border earlier following a police incident, according to National Highways. The motorway was shut in both directions between junction five for Sevenoaks in Kent and junction six for Godstone in Surrey at about 17:30 BST, Surrey Police said. It has since been reopened, a police spokesperson said. Traffic was clearing, the travel monitoring site INRIX reported just after 19:30 BST. Police were at the scene of an "incident" in a walkway adjacent to Auckland's Southern Motorway near Highbrook. Part of the northbound carriageway of the M6 has been closed after a crash left a driver seriously injured and a vehicle on fire. It is due to a collision between a van and a stationary skip wagon near Charnock Richard services, Lancashire Police said. The motorway is closed northbound between junctions 27 for Standish and 28 for Leyland, with delays of about an hour as traffic from a four-mile tailback is being led past the scene. Lancashire Police, Lancashire Fire & Rescue, North West Ambulance Service and National Highways Traffic Officers are attending the scene. 'Do not film' "We know that this closure will have a significant impact on motorists, however our officers are working as quickly as they can at the scene to get the carriageway back open," the force said. "We would ask that people in moving traffic do not film from their vehicles. "Two people have already been seen doing this, and we will look to prosecute them in due course." M11 closed southbound after HGV fire

A motorway was closed in both directions after a HGV Highways said the M11 between junction 10, at Duxford in Cambridgeshire, and junction eight, for Stansted Airport in Essex, was closed and fire and emergency services motorway remained closed southbound for a second incident where a crane needed to be recovered. A spokesperson for National Highways said: "Recovery is progressing into its final stages however the lane closure is likely to remain in place." People were advised to allow extra journey times.
