Woman Refuses to Pick Up Friend at 3 A.M. After Rebooked Flight, Tells Her to Get an Uber Instead

After repeated delays and a rebooked red-eye flight, one woman refused to pick up her friend from the airportNEED TO KNOW A woman agrees to pick up her friend from the airport until delays push the flight late into the night After her friend rebooks for an even later arrival, she decides she's no longer comfortable making the drive When she suggests an Uber instead, her friend pushes back, and she turns to Reddit to ask if she's in the wrongA woman turns to the Reddit community for advice following a tense disagreement with a friend over a late-night airport pickup. What started as a simple favor quickly spirals into a frustrating series of events, pushing the woman to question whether she's in the wrong. 'So this last week, I had agreed to pick up a friend/neighbor at the airport around 10 pm,' the woman writes in her post. Her friend, who doesn't drive due to physical limitations, frequently relies on others for rides and tends to travel with excessive luggage — 'two large check-in bags, as close to the 50lb max limit as possible, and 3 carry-on bags.' She also points out that her friend has a habit of booking the latest possible flights, often arriving late at night. 'She likes to stay up late so always books the latest flight to arrive back in town,' the poster explains. Making matters worse, she's increasingly anxious about driving near the airport at night due to safety concerns. 'The last 3 times I have gone to the airport, I have almost gotten into accidents with drivers cutting me off when heading to the airport,' she shares. On Tuesday, her friend's flight was scheduled to land at 9:50 pm, which already puts the actual pickup closer to 11 pm. 'From the time she lands, it usually takes her close to an hour to get her bags and get to the pickup area,' she says. Wanting to stay informed, she asked her friend to text when the flight takes off. That's when the evening begins to unravel. 'She texts me that the flight is delayed and her flight sits on the ground for at least 2 hours.' Eventually, the flight was canceled due to weather, and her friend was left to rebook her travel plans in the middle of the night. 'Finally, around 1 am Philly time, she tells me the flight is canceled… there is a long line to reschedule flights and there is an app she can use.' The woman then set a clear boundary about late-night pickups. 'I tell her that I don't want to be driving to the airport after 10 pm to pick her up,' she writes, noting that safer, earlier flight options are available. Despite this, her friend booked a flight with a 9:20 pm departure and an 11:50 pm arrival. But the woman pushed back again, saying, 'I remind her that I don't want to be driving around after 10 pm and that it would take her an hour to get out of baggage claim.' The situation only became more frustrating when her friend responded that her bags have already been sent ahead, and she might be out by 12:30 am. 'I told her I would not be coming out at 12:30 am to pick her up,' she says, holding firm to her boundary. Things didn't get any easier when her friend's rescheduled flight left at 1 am Philly time and landed in Las Vegas around 3 am. At that point, the woman tells her friend to use Uber instead, a decision that leads to yet another surprise. 'She needed a credit card to set up an account. Her reply was, 'I didn't bring a credit card with me.' Who does that?' she writes, clearly frustrated by the lack of planning on her friend's part. Faced with the chaotic series of delays, poor planning and a friend unwilling to adjust or understand her limits, the woman turns to Reddit to ask, 'So does that make me an AH for not agreeing to pick up someone at 3 am instead of 9:50 pm?' Georgia Homeowner Says Neighbor Replaced 'Rotting' Shared Fence Without Permission — Then Demanded $2,000 While He Was 6 Feet Up A Tree

Benzinga and Yahoo Finance LLC may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below. If you've ever worried that your neighbor might do something bold, brace yourself—this one involves a surprise fence installation in Georgia, a single dad six feet up a tree, and a $2,000 demand shouted from below. In a post on Reddit titled "Neighbor installed new fencing on my property w/o permission & wants me to pay half. WWYD? Vent/Rant," a homeowner described how their neighbor took it upon himself to replace a deteriorating shared fence—then later demanded half the cost, despite never getting written approval. The "rotting and falling down" fence in question? It technically belonged to the Reddit poster, who clarified: "It's not required I have a fence. It was here when I bought the house... It's on my property. It's my fence." According to the post, the neighbor had mentioned splitting costs in earlier conversations, and the homeowner even said they'd consider it—if the neighbor sent something in writing. That never happened. Don't Miss: Accredited investors can —with up to 120% bonus shares—before this Uber-style disruption hits the public markets , which provides access to a pool of short-term loans backed by residential real estate with just a $100 minimum. Then came months of silence. Until December, when a contractor showed up to start replacing the fence. The homeowner asked who authorized the work. "The neighbor did." Still no written estimate. No heads-up. Just a new fence—paid for by someone else and installed without permission. Then, three months later, while the Reddit poster was trimming a tree, the neighbor called up from the ground and asked, "Are you gonna pay up to your half?" The bill? $2,000. "I told him I would text him something," the homeowner wrote. "I don't want to pay him. I honestly could probably sue him for putting the fence on my property without permission." He also clarified in the comments that he's located in Georgia and that the fence "is entirely on my property line, 6–8 inches away from his line (unofficially, but it's clearly on my side per the county parcel map)." Trending: With Point, you can Reddit quickly jumped into action. Many rallied behind the homeowner's logic. "There was no for sure agreement about it and he did not even send you an estimate before beginning the work," one user pointed out. "That was a bit ballsy of him to move forward." Another echoed the sentiment, calling the neighbor "not a compelling plaintiff" and suggesting that his failure to document the deal puts him on shaky legal ground. Some commenters brought up legal terms like unjust enrichment and trespass, while others urged caution: "You should have stopped the work happening on your property when you became aware of it... that was the time to settle this." Several warned that allowing the construction to continue without explicitly revoking permission could complicate the issue. One Redditor noted, "Once you knew work was being done that would result in you receiving something of value... and you allowed it to continue, you become legally liable for paying the fair value of that thing even if you didn't request it."In an edit to the original post, the homeowner shared the draft of a response they planned to send—offering to reimburse the neighbor only for materials that were actually damaged. "Given the opportunity... I would have chosen to complete the repairs myself," the note read. "Therefore, I am willing to reimburse you for the current cost of 2 full fence panels and 20 additional boards, and 6 2×4's." The tone? Firm, but practical—complete with a Lowe's shopping cart and a check. Still, the whole saga raises some bigger questions for homeowners. Is replacing a fence without permission always wrong? Should the neighbor have filed a complaint instead of hiring a contractor? And does letting the work happen—even if you didn't ask for it—put you on the hook? From one angle, the neighbor clearly overstepped. He ignored the request for written confirmation and took action without formal consent. But from another, he replaced a rotting, shared barrier and may have genuinely believed there was a handshake agreement in place. Whether or not the homeowner owes anything may depend on local ordinances, fence laws, and whether any real value was added to the property. Still, deciding to build on someone else's land without a written agreement? That's not bold—it's begging for branches to be shaken. Multiple people displaced after apartment building fire on Chicago's South Side

A two-alarm fire broke out at an apartment building in Washington Park on Chicago's South Side, leaving multiple people displaced. Chicago firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire on the third floor of the apartment building on 56th Street and Calumet Avenue, just after 10 p.m. Video from the scene showed heavy smoke and flames billowing from the third floor of the building. A woman who lives in the building told CBS News Chicago she managed to escape, thanks to a neighbor's warning. She claims fireworks may have been involved. "My neighbor across the hall and her son banged on the door and said our building was on fire, but before that, the people above me at 5645 on the second floor were popping firecrackers or sparklers or something," she said. Fire officials have not confirmed the cause of the fire. Several people were displaced, and the Red Cross is assisting residents.

Boyfriend Is Mad About His Girlfriend's Outfit That She Wore in Front of a Male Neighbor During an Emergency

'I was getting ready to shower, so I was wearing a pair of boy shorts and a tank top,' recalled the girlfriend, whose shower knob broke offNEED TO KNOW A Reddit user described how her boyfriend is mad at how she responded to an emergency while she was home alone The 26-year-old woman's boyfriend took issue with the outfit she had on while trying to remedy the emergency While asking her neighbor for help at their apartment, the woman said she was wearing 'boy shorts and a tank top'A man is upset at his girlfriend for the outfit she had on when she asked her neighbor for help during an emergency while she was home alone. The 26-year-old girlfriend chronicled the emergency, how her male neighbor came to the rescue and how her boyfriend reacted unfavorably to the situation on Reddit's popular 'Am I the A------' forum. 'My shower knob broke off while I was going to turn it on, and as this happened, water began spraying out of the knob and into the tub, but I had zero idea how to turn it off,' she wrote of the emergency. 'My landlord wasn't answering, and I just so happened to catch my neighbor from across the hall as he was coming home, and in my panic I asked him for help,' she recalled. 'He very quickly was able to stop the water from flowing by sticking a pair of pliers in the broken knob and turning something. So the day was saved!' Her boyfriend, who has access to her front-door security camera, zoned in on the outfit she was wearing when she asked the neighbor for help. 'I was getting ready to shower, so I was wearing a pair of boy shorts and a tank top (nothing I'd even come close to wearing around others normally),' she said, adding that she was texting her boyfriend during the ordeal. 'He saw I was wearing essentially underwear while all of this happened,' she explained. 'My a-- was hanging out of my shorts because, well, they're underwear and had ridden up, which I almost immediately fixed.' Her boyfriend is 'extremely upset' that she didn't put on more clothes before she sought out help from the male neighbor. 'In the moment I literally didn't think about it … the entire situation was just a shit show as I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off,' she wrote. 'I tried explaining all of this, but he's still upset at me.' 'I just don't feel sorry … I'm not apologizing because I feel like I don't need to,' she continued, adding that her boyfriend texted her that 'if you don't see anything wrong with any of that (referring to asking my neighbor for help) then I don't know what to tell you.' Wondering if she's in the wrong, she asked Redditors, 'Am I the a------ for not getting properly dressed during an emergency?' Many people questioned why her boyfriend has access to the camera, as it makes him seem 'controlling' since he doesn't live with her. She addressed those Redditors' concerns, replying: 'He set up the ring camera for me, I had no idea what I was doing so that's why he has access to it, after reading everything on here I've since revoked it.' In general, most people commented that the girlfriend had done nothing wrong in her approach to quickly resolve a timely emergency. 'In a healthy relationship, you might end up laughing about a butt cheek hanging out on camera,' one reader wrote. 'Him acting like you were choosing to flaunt your body to a neighbor ... is worrying to say the least.' Read the original article on People Solve the daily Crossword

He Asked His Upstairs Neighbor to Stop Drenching His Patio—Now He's the Villain

Arguments with neighbors are nothing new, especially when living in close quarters like an apartment complex or housing development. One Redditor wrote about his current dispute with an upstairs neighbor, saying that the neighbor recently purchased 15 to 20 plants that need water daily. "He simply waters them on his level and then hoses off his deck, and all of the runoff water and soil goes to whatever is currently on the level below," the post read. The Redditor explained that his patio furniture and clothes drying line are drenched in the process. When he approached his upstairs neighbor about the issue the first time, it did not go well. "I was like, 'Hey I don't know if you were aware, but this happened, and now all my wetsuits and furniture are covered in soil, and I have to clean it.' And he just laughed and asked me why I had stuff hanging outside." The Redditor continued, adding that his upstairs neighbor recently soaked some expensive tools that were on his patio. The neighbor's response: "I have to water my plants every day. I don't know what you want me to do." The neighbor even blamed the situation on the original poster for having stuff on his own patio. The Redditor posed the situation to the online community, asking if he was wrong for saying something to his neighbor. His fellow Redditors were on his side and criticized the upstairs neighbor for making a mess. One commenter said: "Watering the plants can be done without getting everything wet. Believe me, I have my share of plants (20+) in the house. How does he think people who have plants in their home water the plants? We just don't spray them with a hose. We water them by putting water directly into the pot. I have completely sprayed their leaves and such to give them a full bath and clean them, but I do that in the shower or outside on the lawn where it doesn't overspray everything." Another poster suggested installing a tarp or other waterproof covering to create a makeshift awning to protect the area. They added that the poster should give his neighbor "a bunch of those plates that get put under plant pots to catch overflow and a small watering can, so he can't overwater the poor plants." Others heeded the poster to talk to his landlord immediately. Read the original article on Martha Stewart
