e& UAE unleashes region's first 5G slicing technology
UAE telecom company e& has launched the region's first commercial 5G network slicing product for business customers over its cutting-edge standalone network. Revolutionising connectivity, this pioneering solution delivers tailored, ultra-reliable 5G to meet the evolving needs of industries and organisations across the public and private sectors. 5G slicing empowers e& UAE's world-class commercial 5G network by partitioning it into multiple virtual networks (slices), each powered by dedicated network resources. This innovation enables businesses in diverse industries such as manufacturing, public safety and port facilities to optimise performance for their business critical applications. The introduction of custom slices will meet specific industry demands, ranging from low latency to robust Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for smart infrastructure. These dedicated network resources will also guarantee peak performance for critical operations. Oscar Garcia, Senior Vice President, Business Marketing and Product Innovation, e& UAE, said: "By introducing 5G network slicing, e& UAE is delivering on its commitment to building innovative connectivity products and solutions that drive digital transformation across industries." "With 5G network slicing, organisations can leverage on end-to-end reserved capacity to achieve guaranteed performance for critical operations. The solution is set to enable industry-specific use cases with the reliability and flexibility required for essential applications," he stated. e& UAE offers businesses flexible options to suit their needs, including 5G slicing bandwidth-based packages, which provides tailored connectivity speeds to match specific use case requirements, and an industrial 5G Customer End Device (CPE), which acts as a dedicated access point, ensuring seamless integration and reliable performance for the subscribed network slice. Even though slices share the same physical network, they are isolated from each other in terms of traffic and data. This isolation ensures that the performance of a slice is not affected by the demands of other users on the shared network, ensuring secure and reliable service for businesses. As the region's first operator to launch a 5G network slicing solution with predefined bandwidths and plans, e& UAE is unlocking the full potential of reliable connectivity across the UAE. This game-changing technology bridges the gap between standard 5G services and complex private network infrastructures, offering an agile, cost-effective solution for today's digital landscape, stated Garcia.

This telco serves 5G slices for all customers. Your turn, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T!
Way over there in sunny Singapore, phone users have a great advantage: if they're on Singtel, they can now enjoy 5G+ and the miraculous network slicing technology. Network slicing is something we've talked about every now and then here at PhoneArena. For example, T-Mobile has been proactive in deploying 5G standalone architecture, which is essential for network slicing. T-Mobile has launched network slicing services for specific enterprise and public safety applications, like its T-Priority first responders program. Verizon also offers 5G slicing for first responders, called the Frontline Network Slice. For consumers, there's something called Enhanced Video Calling that is powered by network slicing, but it's available for iPhone Verizon users. Now, Singtel has announced that it has introduced 5G+, the next stage in its mobile network development. This rollout includes a wider implementation of network slicing, which allows different users and services to experience more consistent and efficient connectivity – even in crowded or high-demand areas, and even when roaming. To better understand network slicing, let's imagine a highway. All vehicles – cars, trucks, emergency vehicles – use the same road space, but that leads to traffic jams during peak hours. With network slicing, the road is divided into dedicated lanes: one for ambulances, another for trucks, and others for regular cars. Thus, each lane serves a specific purpose, ensuring that priority traffic like emergency services never gets network slicing creates dedicated "lanes" in the 5G network for different types of users or applications, adapting in real time to deliver better speed, reliability, and feature has typically been reserved for businesses or special use cases, such as live events or critical operations. Singtel is now making it available to regular consumers, expanding its use beyond enterprise has deployed network slicing at major events such as the F1 Grand Prix Singapore, National Day Parade and international concert tours, the company states. – Ng Tian Chong, Chief Executive Officer, Singtel Singapore, press release May 2025 Earlier this year, Singtel activated the 700MHz spectrum for all its 5G users, which helps improve coverage in challenging environments like high-rise buildings, basements, and more remote areas. Users across Singapore can benefit from this enhancement without paying part of the upgrade, existing customers on selected plans were automatically shifted to 5G+ Priority. This means they now experience faster speeds, lower latency, and more stable connections, especially in crowded areas. Additional security features have also been introduced, offering round-the-clock protection against online threats, including when users are ahead, 5G+ serves as a stepping stone toward 5G-Advanced and eventually 6G. Think of 5G-Advanced as an upgraded version of 5G – it's the same foundation but with smarter, faster, and more energy-efficient features. It will better support technologies like smart vehicles and factory automation. Beyond that, 6G, expected in the 2030s, will likely offer near-instant data delivery and even deeper integration of digital and physical worlds through things like augmented reality and AI-driven says this is the world's first country-wide deployment of network slicing for consumers. What's up, T-Mobile , Verizon , AT&T?

Singtel Offers Free Upgrade To Enhanced 5G+ Network With 4X Faster Speeds
The introduction of 5G network has made Singapore one of the best-connected countries in the world, but there's always room for improvement. For example, maintaining smooth connectivity in densely populated areas remains a challenge in densely populated areas, with signal drops eating into the enjoyment of video streaming, mobile gaming, and the like. To combat the threat, local telco Singtel is bringing 5G+, an enhanced version of its existing 5G network that delivers 4x faster speeds, to existing subscribers at no additional cost. The advanced tech enables access to network slicing, which allocates dedicated bandwidths, or 'slices', to the specific needs of different services, applications, devices, or users, resulting in reduced congestion. As shared by CEO Ng Tian Chong, Singtel is one of the 50 operators to offer the standalone network worldwide, and the only telco to do so in Singapore. Previously, network slicing was largely used by enterprise clients and businesses, so its nationwide implementation marks a big deal for the company. Working alongside the tech is the 700MHz spectrum, which was deployed in February. The low-frequency band can travel further and penetrate physical barriers more efficiently, boosting coverage by up to 40 percent in high-rise buildings, indoor and underground spaces, and remote areas. The service is available as part of two SIM-only plans: Priority Plus and Priority Ultra, extending increased security and real-time threat protection to all users, including those roaming overseas, as well as access to priority service at Singtel shops, hotlines, and chat support. Existing customers on SIM-only Plus and Ultra plans and above were upgraded to the 5G+ network for free as of the first week of May 2025. The Priority Plus plan costs S$55 per month and bundles in 200GB of local data and 3GB of Asia roaming, S$10 monthly cashback on a new phone with PayLater, and 1,000 minutes of talktime and 1,000 SMS. Meanwhile, Priority Ultra (S$80 per month) includes unlimited local data and 6GB of Asia roaming, S$20 monthly cashback on a new phone with PayLater, and 1,500 minutes of talktime and 1,500 SMS. Both come with a complimentary 12-month Disney+ Premium subscription and one month of Spotify, Entertainer, and Straits Times One Digital subscription.
