The best pizzeria in Europe is giving away free pizza on London's South Bank next week

What's better than pizza? Free pizza. Next week Napoli on The Road – which came first at last month's 50 Top Pizza Europa Awards – will be handing out thousands of slices of free margherita pizza on the South Bank from a nifty Napoli on the Road van. This cheesy giveaway will take place on Tuesday July 29 and Wednesday July 30, from 11am-7pm, at Observation Point near Gabriel's Wharf. To what do we owe such an honour? We can thank tomatoes, specifically Italian tinned tomato brand Mutti, whose tomato sauce will take pride of place on the pizza slices. Mutti will also be dishing out free samples of its new garlic pasta sauce. Napoli On The Road - which has outlets in Chiswick and Richmond – won the title of Pizza of the Year 2025 at the Pizza Europa Awards for its signature pizza Ricordi d'Infanzia, which is topped with slow-cooked ragu with beef, Parmigiano Reggiano DOP, fondue and basil. Napoli on the Road was set up by pizzaiolo Michele Pascarella, who hails from Maddaloni, near Naples. Pascarella was also named World Pizza Maker of the Year 2023 by 50 Top Pizza and Best International Pizza Maker 2024 by the Accademia Nazionale Pizza DOC.

Big Ten football 2025 preseason poll, All-Conference teams, award selections

Big Ten football media days are set to begin on Tuesday, July 22, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska, Ohio State and Rutgers will appear during Tuesday's session. Minnesota, Northwestern, Oregon, Penn State, Washington and Wisconsin will then follow on Wednesday, before Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, UCLA and USC close the event on Thursday. Unlike at this time last year, the expanded 18-team conference has a sense of normalcy and permanence. Media days for the 2024 season were our first look at Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA as conference members, which added an extra challenge to season preview and preparation work. That picture is much clearer entering 2025. Oregon solidified its position as a conference and national title contender in its first season as a Big Ten member, while Washington, USC and UCLA all fell a few tiers below that standing. A big question entering 2025 is which of those final three programs breaks out and returns to the top of the sport. Big Ten Position Previews: Defense -- Offense -- Quarterbacks -- Running Backs -- Wide Receivers -- Tight Ends -- Offensive Line -- Defensive Line -- Pass-Rushers With media days set to begin on Tuesday, there is no better time to unveil our 2025 Big Ten football season predictions, complete with our preseason poll, projected All-Conference teams and selections for the major individual awards Badgers Wire's Big Ten Football 2025 Preseason Poll Big Ten Championship: Penn State over Ohio State All-Big Ten First Team Offense Defense All-Big Ten Second Team Offense Defense All-Big Ten Third Team Offense Defense Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Pick: WR Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State While he isn't a quarterback, Smith is an easy pick for this award. The all-world wide receiver turned 76 receptions into 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2024. He should have little trouble replicating those tallies as the clear No. 1 option on Ohio State's offense in 2025. Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Pick: S Caleb Downs, Ohio State While Penn State may have the better overall team than Ohio State in 2025, the Buckeyes boast the clear top two players in the conference, if not in the entire sport. Downs transferred to Ohio State after a fantastic true freshman season at Alabama in 2023 (107 tackles, four for loss, two interceptions, four pass deflections, one forced fumble). He then met sky-high expectations with an All-American season leading the Buckeyes defense in 2024, finishing with 82 tackles, eight for loss, two interceptions and six pass deflections. Expect another fantastic season from the All-American safety. Big Ten Freshman of the Year Pick: WR Dakorien Moore, Oregon If any player has the potential to follow in Smith's footsteps as a true freshman wide receiver, it's Moore. The five-star recruit joins the Ducks as 247Sports' No. 4 overall player in the class of 2025 and No. 1 wideout. With Evan Stewart out for the year with a torn patellar tendon, Moore should have a path to lead the Ducks in targets. Big Ten Coach of the Year Pick: Bret Bielema, Illinois Bielama and Illinois' breakthrough 2024 season was overshadowed by an out-of-nowhere resurgence from Curt Cignetti's Indiana Hoosiers. 2025 will be Bielema's year to steal the headlines, as Illinois returns significant production and faces one of the conference's easiest schedules. College Football Playoff Participants Picks: Penn State, Ohio State, Illinois, Washington Penn State and Ohio State feel like annual write-ins to the CFP now that it includes 12 teams. Oregon is close to that standing, although the team may be set for a step backward after an offseason of significant roster turnover. While some would put Michigan next, I can't buy in until we know the team's situation at quarterback. That leaves Illinois, which, as mentioned, faces one of the lightest schedules in the conference. A path to 10-2 should be there if the team can replicate its form from last season. My breakout pick for 2025 is the Washington Huskies. The team was up-and-down last season as Jedd Fisch installed his culture and worked to turn over the roster. Remember, he took the job late in the cycle after Kalen DeBoer left for Alabama. The program is in a much better place entering 2025 after a full offseason of roster movement. Sophomore quarterback Demond Williams Jr. could be the Big Ten breakout player of the year, leading an offensive unit that is sneaky-talented. The major questions come on defense, where the team is set to start six transfers. The Huskies face a tough schedule, but they could sneak in at the bottom of the CFP field with a 9-3 record. Sainsbury's product's price rises by whopping 17 per cent more than rivals

Our weekly shop comparison looks at a basket of eight items across six main supermarkets each week - and one store has been top of the list for three weeks A supermarket is charging 17 per cent more for a staple item compared to nearly all other retailers. Our weekly price comparison examines the cost of eight items across the six main supermarkets. One product - a 500g pack of the cheapest supermarket mince (either 20 per cent or 25 per cent fat) - has seen a steady price increase, but now Sainsbury's is selling it for 17% more than Aldi, Lidl, Asda and Morrisons, and 13 per cent more than Tesco. ‌ Most places offer their cheapest pack for £2.99 - a staggering 77 per cent increase from the lowest price (£1.69) at which it was sold at Aldi when we began tracking prices over three years ago. ‌ ‌ Back then, Sainsbury's was still charging 50 per cent less than its current price, with a tag of £2. However, Sainsbury's price has now reached £3.50, the highest it's been throughout our comparison. With an overall bill of £13.90, it remains the priciest supermarket for the third week running. Aldi continues to be the most affordable for the fifth week, with a total of £13.09, just a penny less than Lidl's £13.10. Asda is now the third cheapest at £13.33, followed by Tesco at £13.46 and Morrisons at £13.55. ‌ Despite being the most affordable option, Aldi has contested our comparison, arguing that the list doesn't consider quality differences, claiming, for instance, that its Diplomat Red Label tea bags and coffee are 'higher quality' than the comparative products used. The retailer also notes that its tins of beans are weightier than some competitors'. When it comes to meat, however, Aldi and Lidl, as well as Morrisons, offer a 25% fat pack, while other supermarkets provide 20% fat, which is generally regarded as better quality. An Aldi spokesperson further commented: "Our promise to customers is that they will make significant savings every time they shop with Aldi, which is why we've been named Which? Cheapest Supermarket of the Year for four years running." ‌ Asda has also expressed disagreement, stating that our limited selection of items doesn't capture the full scope of their pricing or take into account their special offers. The supermarket maintains that its Just Essentials range is the most extensive and economical on the market, comparable to Aldi's. Sainsbury's has highlighted that industry-wide factors have affected beef prices. A Sainsbury's representative remarked: "This review of a limited number of products does not reflect the fantastic value our customers will find at Sainsbury's. We are committed to offering the best possible value across a wide variety of products – whether that's through our value Stamford Street range, Low Everyday Prices, Aldi Price Match or Nectar Prices." He was named Baseball America's Independent Player of the Decade for the 1990s. Following his career as a pitcher, Bittiger served as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks' pitching coach through the 2003 season. After he was hired as a scout by the Oakland A's in 2004, he remained active in the RedHawks' player personnel department, eventually becoming their director of player personnel in 2017. More news: Tigers All-Star, First Draft Pick to Appear in an MLB Game, Passes Away Bittiger was still a player personnel consultant for the RedHawks at the time of his death. "We are heartbroken to share that we've lost a member of the A's family today," the team wrote on its Twitter/X account Saturday. Jeff played parts of four seasons in the big leagues with the Phillies, Twins, and… — Athletics (@Athletics) July 19, 2025 "As an area scout, he signed Rookie of the Year Andrew Bailey, and he was a critical voice in many trade acquisitions over the last 10 years as a member of our Professional Scouting staff," the statement continued. "Thank you, Jeff, for your dedication not only to the A's organization, but to the game of baseball." Bittiger's death surely came as a surprise to many who were unaware of his cancer battle and saw him continue working into the 2025 season. More news:Yankees World Series Champion, St. Louis' Last AL All-Star, Dies at 97 "He's been battling cancer privately for years," Brett Bittiger, Jeff's son, told the The Forum. "He didn't stop working until this spring, which is very much on brand for him. ... He cared about being great." Originally drafted as a third baseman out of Secaucus (N.J.) High School, Bittiger was converted to a full-time pitcher in 1981 and was in the Mets' farm system until New York traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies in 1986. More news: Former Cubs, Cardinals Outfielder Who Made St. Louis History Passes Away Bittiger made only three starts for the Phillies in 1986 before he was released. The Atlanta Braves cut him just before the 1987 season began, and he signed a minor league deal with the Minnesota Twins in April of that year. Bittiger joined the Twins' major league club in September 1987 when rosters expanded, but he was not included on their postseason roster as they marched to the World Series championship. More news: Former Red Sox, Indians, Angels Pitcher Passes Away Bittiger's 25 games (seven starts) with the White Sox in 1988 were his most in any big league season. He went 2-4 with a 4.23 ERA (95 ERA+). In 1989, he made only two appearances with Chicago — the last of his major league career. That proved to be the beginning of Bittinger's long career in professional baseball. He still holds the RedHawks' team record for lowest career ERA (3.46), and his work as a scout continues to have an impact. More news: Legendary 2-Sport Star Whose Grandson Followed Him to MLB's Cardinals Dies Bailey, for example, went into coaching after his playing career ended. He is currently the Boston Red Sox's pitching coach. "Jeff spent his whole life around the game: playing, coaching, and scouting. He was as good a person as he was a scout, and he was a hell of a scout," Billy Beane, a senior adviser to Athletics owner John Fisher who previously served as the club's general manager, said in a statement. "He knew pitchers inside and out and you could tell how much he loved baseball just by being around him." For more MLB news, visit Newsweek Sports.
