Dog stabbed to death during attack on its owner in Windsor, police say
The Windsor Police Service (WPS) is investigating a dog attack on the city's west-side that resulted in the dog being stabbed and killed by a bystander.
They say it happened around 10 p.m. Friday at an address on St. Joseph Street near Bloomfield Road.
According to authorities, the owner was attacked and suffered "significant" but non-life threatening injuries to her left arm and hand as she attempted to break up her two dogs fighting inside her home. The incident eventually spilled outside.
Police say the dog that bit her and needed to be restrained was a pit bull-Rottweiler mix.
"During an attempt to separate the animals, one of the dogs bit her hand and refused to let go," Windsor police said in an online statement. "Several bystanders intervened, with one individual reportedly stabbing the dog to stop the attack."
