[DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, Vice President of the American Powerboat Association Kurt Romberg said this is the type of sport families pass down generation to generation. TRENDING STORIES: 6-year-old dies weeks after crash in Montgomery County Bus driver for multiple local districts accused of grooming underage boys, sexual abuse Investigation opened after complaint made against local trustee The crash happened at Champions Park Lake on Tuesday morning during the 2025 Stock, Mod, and Junior Nationals racing event. >>RELATED: Man killed in local boat racing crash identified 'There are literally hundreds of racers from every corner of this country that, that feel that pain, and it was a tragedy,' Romberg said. Romberg said the crash happened during the second heat. 'They do what's called a flying start, where we have a large digital clock off to the right side of the race course, they approach the start finish line, and the idea is to be going at maximum speed when that clock counts down to zero,' Romberg said. 20-year-old Treiden Schlieicher lost control of his powerboat. 'Treiden had some problems with his boat and things, you know, got tangled up,' Romberg said. There was a medic staged at the event and rescue divers in the water. 'The black diamond diver got to him in just a number of seconds, did what they could do, brought him in and and the ambulance guys helped and they tried to get him stabilized,' Romberg said. Medics took the man to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where he later died. 'He was a good kid, and he was well-liked. And once again, I'll say that it's, you're losing a family, and a lot of, a lot of our members are looking at it in that respect,' Romberg said. There were several heats still scheduled after the crash. 'The race committee had to get in the huddle, and there was a lot of back and forth on, do we keep going? Do we stop? What do we do here? And really, it came down to the family saying, 'Treiden would want you to keep going.' And so we kept going,' he said. Romberg added that Mercy Health brought in a trauma counselor to talk with anyone who needed support. The association plans to honor Schlieicher at a race next month. A power boat crashed into the USS Midway Museum in San Diego, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage to the historic vessel turned tourist destination before its captain fled the area. San Diego authorities said the collision occurred just before 2 p.m. Friday near the Embarcadero. The boat struck the hull of the USS Midway, a decommissioned aircraft carrier that now serves as a museum, Fox 5 San Diego reported. The crash was captured on the San Diego webcam, which offers livestream views of the city's downtown from multiple vantage points. (San Diego Web Cam) The unnamed captain is facing charges of hit-and-run, but is also suspected of operating a boat under the influence, authorities said. No injuries were reported in the crash. The incident remains under investigation. The USS Midway Museum, which houses an extensive collection of aircrafts that were mainly built in Southern California, remained open to the public following the incident. The ship , named after the 1942 Battle of Midway, was commissioned just after World War II, playing key roles in the Cold War and Vietnam War before later being deployed to the Persian Gulf as part of Operation Desert Storm in 1990. There, it served as the flagship for naval airforces in the Gulf and launched more than 3,000 combat missions with no losses, according to the museum's website. The ship was then decommissioned in 1992. It was the United States' longest-serving aircraft carrier, from 1945 to 1992, before it was turned into a museum in 2004. Solve the daily Crossword

This New Yacht Is Aiming To Hit Top Speeds Of 92 MPH

The powerboat is almost finished and ready to launch. There's something exciting cooking in the construction sheds at Turkish yachtbuilder VisionF – and it's set to become one of the fastest boat ever built, capable of hitting an eye-watering 80 knots. For context, that's about 92 miles per hour. That won't be the yacht's usual speed, this will just be its maximum capacity. But, 80 knots will make this boat one of the fastest on the water, rivalling the 84 mph of the current title holder for yachts above 80 feet. Blink and you'll miss it… A scarlet trim and a jet-black hull characterize the boat The yacht is in build in Istanbul, Turkey at catamaran specialist shipyard VisionF. The new boat marks a stark departure from the builder's usual multihull remit, but it still carries the brand's DNA for bold, convention-defying designs (VisionF also built a baby pink catamaran, after all). The first 46-feet (or 14 meter) unit is nearly complete and is scheduled for its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2025. One of VisionF's earlier models, an eye-catching rose-colored catamaran The new powerboat is aptly named the Superfast 46. It's engineered for high-performance boating, combining lightweight carbon fiber construction with advanced infusion and vacuum bagging techniques. The result is a boat built for speed, agility and strength. Strength is crucial when building hyper-fast boats, this new model aims to solve the issue with this innovation combination of construction techniques. Powering the Superfast 46 are two Mercury 450 HP Racing Sportmaster engines. These are integrated with a VesselView 903 system, which provides real-time performance data to help the yacht's captain understand and anticipate the yacht's performance. Handling is made easy thanks to precision hydraulic steering, a 6-inch electric hydraulic jackplate, and some optional extras to help support the yacht's maneuverability. The new Superfast 46 alongside one of VisionF's more classic models. With a 3.7-metre beam and a shallow draft of just 0.47 metres, the Superfast 46 maintains stability while offering impressive responsiveness. The design includes a carbon fiber spoiler, a custom carbon dashboard, and a high-gloss gelcoat finish. Inside, the seating is crafted with premium upholstery and features a shock-absorbing system that enhances comfort – something that's critical when you're zipping along at such high speeds. A pair of Mercury 450 HP Racing Sportmaster engines propel the yacht. The 600-liter fuel capacity offers up to two hours of high-speed cruising. Navigation and safety systems include a Garmin 19-inch (1623 XSV) display and pop-up navigation lights. The boat also comes with options for rear and anchor cameras, giving a future yacht owner plenty of scope to tailor the boat to their needs. Speed may be the main modus operandi of the boat, but entertainment is also a key focus. A marine-grade audio system enhances the onboard experience, delivering powerful sound through four 6.5-inch speakers, a 10-inch subwoofer, and the MS-RA770 stereo head unit. The yacht has 'marine-grade' audio equipment installed. Meanwhile, Superfast 46 also has a nice-sized cockpit seating area with a windshield for protection from the elements and a cooler for drinks. And of course, the colour scheme, black and crimson, complements the yacht's fast personality. Alongside the Superfast 46, VisionF Yachts continues to expand its portfolio with eight models currently in production. These include the fully-electric GRP VisionF and the VisionF 155. The Cannes Yachting Festival will host a huge variety of different superyachts, including those from ... More Italian shipyard Custom Line. Held every September in the glittering heart of the French Riviera, the Cannes Boat Show is one of the world's most prestigious and eagerly anticipated boat shows in the calendar. Since 1977, it has brought together the finest launches of the last year. The Superfast 46 will sit alongside the creme da la creme of the yachting sector, from tenders and dayboats to supersized new motor yachts, sleek sailing boats and older second-hand yachts.
