Popular baby toy sold on Amazon is recalled over ‘serious risk of entrapment' – parents told ‘stop using it immediately'
A POPULAR baby toy has been urgently removed from Amazon over fears that it could present a chocking hazard or cause serious injury. The Office for Product Safety & Standards said parents should stop using the MiniDream Tummy Time Activity Pillow for Babies immediately. The rounded pillows, which resemble a travel pillow, are designed to support babies when lying on their front by providing support for their arms and shoulders. MiniDream's model comes with four detachable toys, including a soft plush bunny, a star-shaped silicone teether, a crescent moon and a mirror. The toys on the reversible pillow are attached via small fabric loops. However, the Office for Product Safety & Standards (OPSS) found that the loops were big enough for a child's finger to fit in - raising fears of serious finger injuries. More seriously, the product also comes in plastic packaging thicker than is legally allowed, meaning it could be a serious choking risk to a baby. The OPSS found that the product, which is made in China, presented a 'serious' risk of 'entrapment'. The OPSS' s report said: "The product presents a risk of entrapment, as the pillow, pillowcase and detachable moon toy include fabric loops sewn into the side of one of the seams. "The loops are large enough that a young child could easily insert their finger into them and twist, causing injuries. "Additionally, the plastic packaging bag has a thickness lower than the minimum permissible, presenting an asphyxiation hazard. "The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011." OPSS instructed those who have purchased the toy to stop using the product immediately, and to seek a refund from the point of purchase. Other recent product recalls While the laws around toys are stringent, products still make it to market that present a danger to children. The Nail Art Studio kit, by the brand Girls Creator, is a nail art set that includes nail varnish, a battery-operated nail dryer and a range of nail accessories. However, a warning was issued after a product safety report found a risk of suffocation for children. Another recent example was the Joycat Baby Float, sold on Amazon. The blue and yellow sea-themed swim seat, intended for babies and toddlers, was blocked from entering the country at the border. The float was branded a safety risk after authorities found that its attachable canopy could lift the float from the water in windy conditions, putting children in danger. The report also raised concerns that the float's colours do not provide enough contrast with the water, making it harder to spot in an emergency.

A KITCHEN gadget from Amazon has been recalled over a "serious" risk of exploding. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has now banned all imports of the Moongiantgo Food Dehydrator. 2 The entire product appeared to be riddled with issues, including faults with its fuse. On the OPSS website, it states: "The product is a serious risk of fire as the fuse has insufficient granular filler to ensure safe operation under fault conditions. "If the product experiences an electrical fault whilst in use, it may catch fire or explode." According to the body, it does not meet the requirements of Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets Safety Regulations 1994. The product was used to dehydrate various food items such as fruits, herbs, vegetables and meats. A similar item listed on Amazon, which meets the regulation standards, says it is fitted with a high-powered rear fan which delivers "consistent airflow throughout". The description reads: "A sleek digital control panel gives you full command of the dehydration process. "Set the temperature anywhere between 30°C and 90°C, and use the programmable timer for up to 24 hours of continuous drying." Another Amazon product was recalled over serious risk of injuries. The Soppycid Reusable Water Balloons have been removed from the online marketplace following the safety concern. A LUXURY perfume and candle gift set is being urgently recalled after posing a serious health risk. The alarm was raised after a chemical that can damage the female reproductive system or harm unborn babies was discovered in the products. The £130 Maison Louis Marie No 04 Bois de Balinbourt gift set was found to contain Butylphenyl methylpropional (BMHCA), which is prohibited in cosmetic products. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) made the decision to withdraw the set from shops after it failed to meet trading standards. The box contains a 50ml eau de parfum, a 15ml perfume oil and a scented candle. No. 04 Bois de Balincourt is a recipe of aromas including sandalwood, cedarwood, nutmeg, cinnamon, vetiver, and amber wood. The gift set was sold via La Gent's website. This comes after Marks and Spencer recalled a popular baby product due to customer safety complaints. Polarn O. Pyret Branded Poppy Print Rompers were recalled due to safety complaints. Parents and carers of little ones have been asked to check their homes to see if they have the affected product. The recall was made for the T94 8409A model in size 1-12 months old, which was sold online at M&S. The company said: "Polarn O. Pyret has issued a Product Recall due to safety complaints with their Poppy Print Romper, T94 8409A in the specified sizes 1-12 Months". A POPULAR Amazon product is being urgently recalled due to its "high risk of electric shock". The beauty product has been deemed unable to meet a number of requirements outlined by the Office for Product & Safety Standards. 1 It is the Kaloary Roll-on Wax Kit, which includes an electrical wax warmer, soft wax cartridges, wax strips and an after-wax treatment oil. The heating elements of the kit have been found to be insufficiently insulated, which is the cause of the product's high electric shock risk. Additionally, the plug that is supplied with the warmer does not contain a ballast and the fuse is counterfeit. In the recall notice, the Office for Product Safety & Standards warned: "During normal use, the product could short-circuit, causing electric shock. "Improvements are also required to marking, labelling and documentation." Whilst the kit as a whole is not considered to be counterfeit, the fuse is suspected to be. It has subsequently been categorised to have a high risk level of electric shock. The product does not meet the requirements of both the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994. The wax kit, which comes in a light pink rectangular box from China, is said to be destroyed at the border as a corrective measure. It received a mixture of responses from Amazon users, with 65% of customer reviews giving a five star rating.
