Defence minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the team and said that this success proves that the Indian industry is now ready to absorb and produce critical Defence Technologies. "In a major boost to India's defence capabilities, @ DRDO _India has successfully carried out flight trials of UAV Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM)-V3 in the National Open Area Range (NOAR), test range in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. Congratulations to DRDO and the industry partners, DcPPs, MSMEs and Start-ups for the development and successful trials of the ULPGM-V3 system. This success proves that the Indian industry is now ready to absorb and produce critical Defence Technologies," Singh said in a post on X. The ULPGM-V3, an extended-range variant, also referred to as ULM-ER was showcased at the Aero India 2025 show, which was held in Bangalore from 10 to 14 February. Key details The ULM-ER, an extended-range variant of DRDO's UAV-Launched Precision Guided Munition (ULPGM) air-to-surface missile, features passive homing with an imaging infrared (IR) seeker for both day and night operations, according to DRDO website citing Janes news. The 12.5 kg fire-and-forget missile is powered by a small dualthrust solid propulsion unit, enabling it to achieve a maximum range of 4 km during the day and 2.5 km at night. Communication is facilitated via a two-way datalink. With multiple warhead options, the munition is designed to engage various static and moving targets. Adani and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) are key manufacturing partners for the ULPGM project, while the DRDO is responsible for the development and testing of the munitions. There are three known ULPGM variants: ULPGM V1 (baseline), ULPGM V2 (production variant, also known as ULPGM), and ULPGM V3 (extended-range variant, also referred to as ULM-ER). The primary differences between V1, V2, and V3 lie in enhancements to guidance systems, performance, and range.

‘Designed To Operate Against…': India Test Fires Advanced Underwater Naval Mine

Last Updated: MIGM is an advanced underwater naval mine developed by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories. In a display of its advanced defense capabilities, India successfully test-fired an indigenously designed and developed underwater naval mine designed to enhance the Navy's capabilities against modern stealth ships and submarines. The Indian Navy and Defence Research of Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted the 'combat firing" of Multi-Influence Ground Mine (MIGM), developed by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam, in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories. The announcement came from the Ministry of Defence on Monday amid the simmering ties between India and Pakistan following the last month's Pahalgam terror attack. 'The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Navy have successfully undertaken combat firing (with reduced explosive) of the indigenously designed and developed Multi-Influence Ground Mine (MIGM)," the defence ministry said on Monday. The DRDO also shared a video of the test firing in which an underwater explosion took place with reduced explosives. The MIGM system is equipped with multiple sensors capable of detecting acoustic, magnetic, and pressure signatures produced by marine vessels. It has been designed to operate effectively in complex maritime environments. Bharat Dynamics Limited, Visakhapatnam and Apollo Microsystems Limited, Hyderabad are the production partners for the system. Earlier, Indian Navy's latest destroyer, INS Surat (D69), successfully test-fired a Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM) against a sea-skimming target in the Arabian Sea. The successful firing of the MRSAM underscored the destroyer's ability to effectively counter modern aerial threats, including those that approach at low altitudes to evade radar detection. #IndianNavy 's latest indigenous guided missile destroyer #INSSurat successfully carried out a precision cooperative engagement of a sea skimming target marking another milestone in strengthening our defence moment for #AatmaNirbharBharat! @SpokespersonMoD … — SpokespersonNavy (@indiannavy) April 24, 2025 These trials of MIGM come at a time as India strengthens its defence posture in response to growing regional threats following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which terrorists linked to LeT killed 26 civilians.
