Freddie Gibbs Disses DJ Akademiks And Calls Gunna A 'Rat' On New Album
Freddie Gibbs has never been the one to shy away from sending shots at his opponents, and today (July 25), he provided Hip-Hop fans with another round. The Gary, Indiana, rapper dropped off his brand new project, Alfredo 2 with The Alchemist, and took aim at Gunna and DJ Akademiks on 'Lavish Habits.' On the track, he leaves no room for assumptions as he name-drops his longtime foe and makes fun of his weight. 'First-class Virgin Atlantic, stewardess' t*tties plastic/ I'm still gon' squeeze Akademiks t*tties, that fat b*stard,' he spits on the mellow instrumental. He then directed his attention towards Gunna, referencing the Atlanta hitmaker's run-in with the government in 2023 due to the highly publicized YSL RICO trial. 'Gunna dissed me and took a plea, he a rat b*stard,' Gibbs raps. Listen below. This is certainly not the first time Gibbs and Ak butted heads, as their beef kicked off five years ago when the latter called the former 'irrelevant' in June 2020. The 'Scottie Beam' spitter threatened the host and their rift continued to spiral for years to come. He has a history with Gunna as well. The 'fukumean' artist rapped on his 2022 track 'poochie gown': I can't f**k with Freddie Gibbs (No)/ N**gas tellin' fibs (Fibs).' That same year, he also tweeted: 'When my album drop Freddie Gibbs will the biggest moment of his career.' Alfredo 2 is a follow-up to its first iteration that made landfall in 2020. The new LP boasts guest appearances from Larry June, J.I.D., and Anderson .Paak, and was led by single '1995.' He gifted fans with a short film, Alfredo: The Movie directed by Nick Walker, to go along with the project. Watch it above. SZA Says Nicki Minaj Is "Having a Moment" Amid Online Feud
Originally appeared on E! Online SZA is hitting snooze on her back and forth with Nicki Minaj. As the 'Super Bass' rapper continues to take aim at the 'Kill Bill' singer as well as stars like Jay-Z and Megan Thee Stallion online, SZA hasn't been afraid to stand her ground. Indeed, after Nicki accused her of being a 'fake girl's girl,' the 35-year-old fired right back. 'Lol ur having a moment,' SZA replied to Nicki over X July 16. 'I'm not sure why but be blessed.' In Nicki's initial post, she quoted a video from the 2018 Met Gala, during which Rihanna missed SZA attempting to get her attention on the steps as she made her way into the party. 'These be the fake girl's girls who talk s--t but will run u down for a photo or do shit like this on camera to pretend they're not the hater they really are,' Nicki alleged in reply to the video. When it comes to her and Nicki, however, SZA alleged that she had shut down the 'Starships' singer's requests for a feature. 'You absolutely know my music and what I contribute 'cause you've asked for features twice to no response,' SZA added in her July 16 X post, also including a screenshot of alleged texts from Nicki. 'In addition to rapping my lyrics on feeling myself.' (SZA is credited as a writer for Beyoncé and Nicki's 2014 hit 'Feeling Myself.') The online beef between Nicki and SZA began July 15 after Nicki called out rapper Punch, who is signed to SZA's Top Dawg Entertainment label for 'bullying' her on social media. (Punch has not spoken out about the allegations.) Shortly after, SZA offhandedly tweeted that same day, 'Mercury take the bait lol silly goose." While mercury retrograde doesn't officially begin until the evening of July 17, Nicki and SZA's beef may have kicked off the astrological movement—which is set to throw egos off rhythm—early. How Drake's Feud With Kendrick Lamar Has Benefited Bitcoin
Benzinga and Yahoo Finance LLC may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below. Bitcoin may be an unlikely winner in the beef between rap stars Drake and Kendrick Lamar. In the drawn-out lyrical fisticuff that has attracted billions of streams, viral reaction videos and TikTok trends, the leading cryptocurrency has received mentions from both sides of the aisle, bringing it before an audience that most cryptocurrency bros and financial experts would scarcely be able to reach. In the most recent instance, Drake on Saturday compared his life experiences to the volatility and staying power of Bitcoin in a song titled 'What Did I Miss?' 'I look at this s–t like a BTC,' he said in the song. 'Could be down this week, then I'm up next week.' Don't Miss: Warren Buffett once said, "If you don't find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die." Here's , starting today. $100k+ in investable assets? – no cost, no obligation. The song, which called out perceived friends that appeared to shift allegiances at the height of his beef with Lamar, has since shot up to the top of the Spotify and Apple Music charts in the U.S. Bitcoin was also mentioned in 'wacced out murals,' the first track of Lamar's most recent album, 'GNX,' released in November. In the track detailing events surrounding the beef and his motivations, he alleges that Drake attempted to dig up information on him by offering Bitcoin to people from his neighborhood, highlighting the pseudonymous nature of the asset. 'N—-s from my city couldn't entertain old boy Promisin' bank transactions and even bitcoin,' he said. 'I'll never peace it up, that shit don't sit well with me. Before I take a truce, I'll take 'em to Hell with me. If that money got in the hands of a crash dummy, could jeopardize my family and burden the ones who love me.' Trending: The secret weapon in billionaire investor portfolios that you almost certainly don't own yet. The mentions come amid Drake's seemingly growing affinity for the asset. In March 2024, Drake shared a clip from a CNBC interview of MicroStrategy (NASDAQ:MSTR) Chair Michael Saylor on his Instagram story. In that interview, Saylor said Bitcoin would eat gold. Drake's support for Bitcoin likely stems from his involvement in cryptocurrency gambling following a 2022 deal with Stake, a global cryptocurrency betting platform. He has gained notoriety for betting millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin on sporting events with mixed results. Most recently, he flaunted a $750,000 Bitcoin bet on cricket team Royal Challengers Bangalore to win the June 3 Indian Premier League final against Punjab Kings. The bet resulted in a $1.3 million payout for beyond Bitcoin, Drake was among celebrities who invested in the popular cryptocurrency ramp MoonPay in April 2022. Despite recent support in the White House and growing institutional adoption, Bitcoin still has a long way to go before it becomes a widespread cultural investment like stocks or an asset in the same class as gold. Bitcoin financial services firm River estimated in March that global adoption of the asset is only at 3%. Mentions and endorsements from international artists, like in the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, could help bump up those numbers by stimulating retail interest. Jadakiss Reacts to Drake's ‘What Did I Miss?': ‘They Flip on You … That's the Game We In'
Jadakiss has some news for Drake. During a recent episode of his Joe and Jada podcast with Fat Joe, the two legends talked about the Toronto rapper's latest single 'What Did I Miss?,' in which he speaks on the relationships that have changed since he got into a historic battle with Kendrick Lamar. Joe added, 'I didn't understand that sh–.' Prior to Jada's commentary, Joe said he enjoyed the track and mentioned Drake being tied with Michael Jackson for fourth place on the most Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s list with 13 apiece. 'I felt like the new track was really dope,' said Joe. 'I listened to it a couple of times and you know he's one No. 1 away from Michael Jackson's record [Editor's note: They're tied], and I think the soul of Michael Jackson is fighting that sh– 'cause every time he put out one you think it's going to take that joint, just it back down.' Crack and Kiss know a little something about rap beef. The two have had notable run-ins with the likes of Jay-Z and 50 Cent over the years, and have since reconciled with both of them, so there still might be hope for Drizzy and Dot to squash things eventually, if you know anything about the history of Joe and Jada's respective battles with Hov and Fif. There's no official release date for Drake's new album, but we know that its called Iceman and that it's coming soon. You can watch the full episode below. The Internet Clowns Drake For Sending Fiery DM To A Canadian Politician Who Went To Kendrick Lamar Concert
The internet thinks Drake has taken another loss months after his rival Kendrick Lamar delivered a final blow to him at this year's Super Bowl amid their ongoing rap beef. By now you've probably heard that the Canadian rapper and Compton emcee were at odds for years, with the public rift dramatically reaching new heights last year after Lamar and Drake exchanged accusations of pedophilia, infidelity and drug use against each other in a series of diss tracks. The quarrel between the artists escalated earlier this year after Drake filed a defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), accusing the label of spreading a 'false and malicious narrative.' The '6 God' rapper's lawsuit alleged that UMG intentionally released and promoted Lamar's diss track, 'Not Like Us,' which Drake claims falsely portrays him as a pedophile. Now, it appears Drake has inadvertently resurrected the feud with Lamar after he called out Canadian politician Jagmeet Singh for recently attending Lamar's concert in his home country. Lamar and SZA made a concert stop in Toronto to perform at the Rogers Centre on June 12 and 13. On Sunday, Drake revealed on Instagram that he reached out to Singh to slam him for going to the concert. 'You're a goof,' Drake wrote in a DM to the former New Democratic Party leader, which the musician screenshot and showed off on his Instagram story, multipleoutlets reported. Reps for Drake didn't immediately respond to HuffPost's request for comment. Social media users on X, formerly Twitter, had a lot to say about Drake boldly blasting Singh. 'This is some high school shit [laugh emoji],' one person wrote. 'I don't know what's funnier, Drake crashing out over a politician going to a Kendrick show or Jagmeet's apologies. It's been over a year and this beef is still so entertaining.' Another said, 'Ain't no way Drake was crying in Jagmeet Singh's DMs just because he went to see the Kendrick concert.' 'Why is Jagmeet Singh expressing regrets and apologies for going to major, well-attended concert in Toronto?,' someone else questioned before adding, 'He doesn't owe Drake anything.' A separate user accused Drake of bullying Singh, writing, 'not drake bullying jagmeet singh into apologizing for going to a kendrick concert [crying emoji].' Another user pointed at the fact that last year, Snoop Dogg apologized to Lamar after the 'Gin & Juice' musician posted Drake's diss song, 'Taylor Made Freestyle,' on his Instagram account. Comparing the two situations, the X user called out the internet's outrage over Drake's comment to Singh as 'hypocrisy.' Singh later issued an apology to Drake for attending the show. 'I went for SZA, not Kendrick,' he wrote in a Sunday post on his Instagram Story. 'I was born in this city. I love this city.' Singh continued, 'But real talk, I get it. I shouldn't have gone at all. OVO and Drake have lifted up this city and [Canada] emoji.' He wrapped up his message, declaring: 'For me it'll always be Drake over Kendrick.' Drake has yet to address Singh's apology publicly.
