NBA sets schedule for 2025-26 games in Europe, unveils plans for 2027, 2028
The NBA on Wednesday announced its regular-season European schedule for the 2025-26 season and unveiled plans to play regular-season season games in Paris, Berlin and Manchester in 2027 and 2028. The Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic will play two games in Europe this season – in Berlin on Jan. 15, and in London on Jan. 18. "Announcing the next three season's regular-season games in Europe reflects the incredible momentum and appetite for NBA basketball in France, Germany, the UK and across the region," NBA managing director of Europe and Middle East George Aivazoglou said in a news release. "We look forward to welcoming the Grizzlies and the Magic to Berlin and London and to engaging fans, players and the local communities through the games and the surrounding events." The Magic's Franz and Mo Wagner are from Germany, and the Berlin game will the NBA's first regular-season game in the country. "To have the Orlando Magic and the NBA play a regular-season game in our hometown of Berlin means everything to us," the Wagner brothers said in a joint statement. "Growing up here, we dreamed of moments like this. It's a huge honor to represent Berlin and Germany and show how much the city and country love basketball. We hope we can inspire kids the way we were inspired watching games from afar." The NBA's push into the European market has been steady and unsurprising. As the league considers expansion of its North American-based league, it is also exploring the creation a new league based in Europe – with the idea of adding already existing franchises and creating franchises in underserved markets. "Just as the same as in American cities, we think there's an opportunity to serve fans in Europe," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said at the NBA Finals. "No knock on European basketball, because most of those international MVPs I just talked about are coming from Europe. There's really high-level basketball being played there. But we think there is an opportunity to better serve fans there. I view that as a form of expansion as well, and that's something we're also thinking hard about." Barcelona in Miami? Spain's LaLiga Moves Closer to Hosting U.S.-Based Game
Lamine Yamal playing an actual regular-season match for Barcelona at the home of the NFL's Miami Dolphins? It could happen. Soccer fans in the U.S. have long been used to seeing some of Europe's biggest clubs play exhibition matches and friendlies during the summer, but now Spain's LaLiga is closer to hosting a regular-season match stateside. And it would include the league's defending champions. The Spanish soccer federation on Monday approved a request for the match between Barça and Villarreal to be played in Miami on Dec. 20. The federation will now seek approval from soccer governing bodies UEFA and FIFA. The 17th-round match in LaLiga would be played at the Hard Rock Stadium. Staging a match abroad has been part of the league's goal of promoting soccer and its brand in other countries. The league is in a long-term partnership with sports and entertainment group Relevent Sports, which is part of Stephen Ross' portfolio of companies including Hard Rock Stadium, the Miami Dolphins, the Formula One's Miami Grand Prix and the Miami Open tennis tournament. LaLiga has been pushing to host a regular-season match in the U.S. for numerous years, similarly to the way the NFL has hosted games in Europe, Mexico and Brazil. In 2018-19, the Spanish league proposed a game between Barcelona and Girona. Another game between Villarreal and Athletico Madrid for the following season fell through. Interestingly enough, the Dolphins will be playing a regular-season game in Spain – taking on the Washington Commanders on Nov. 16 at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium – home of Barcelona's longtime rivals, Real Madrid.

2025 NASCAR Playoff Standings After Watkin's Glen
The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs are right around the corner, and after this past weekend's action at Watkins Glen International, the race to secure a postseason berth is more intense than ever. With just a few races left in the regular season, every stage point and position matters as drivers fight to lock in their spot or keep playoff hopes alive. Check out the full NASCAR Cup Playoff Standings heading into this weekend's Cook Out 400. The top 16 drivers make the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. Here are the rest of the drivers on the outside looking in: 16 drivers advance to the NASCAR Playoffs. A win guarantees a spot in the playoffs unless there are more winners than spots available. The 16 spots go to the regular-season champion and then 15 drivers based on wins with tiebreakers by points. Right now, there have been 13 winners and the regular-season champion will most likely be a driver who has won a race. So unless there are five new winners (or four new winners and winless Tyler Reddick makes up a -117 point deficit to win the regular-season title), everyone with a win will get in.
