As Oasis prepare to return to their Manchester roots on tour - these are the humble homes of northern band stars

Oasis are set to take to the stage in their hometown of Manchester next month as part of their highly-anticipated reunion tour. While the brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, will rake in millions thanks to ticket sales, merchandise and even a documentary - it wasn't always this way. The brothers might currently have an estimated net worth of around £60m between them but were raised on a south Manchester council estate, by their mother Peggy - a £1-a-week cleaner. Over the years, Noel and Liam - whose older brother Paul also works in the music industry - have both made reference to their 'horrific' childhood in interviews. And despite Noel and Liam's repeated attempts to buy their mother a new home over the years, Peggy has always insisted on remaining in the same council house in Manchester. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The Gallagher brothers aren't the only Manchester based stars to come from humble beginnings. From Simply Red's Mick Hucknall to Mark Owen of Take That and even Harry Styles, many famous faces grew up in Manchester. Mick, 65, who rose to international fame as the pop band's lead singer, once told of how his mother walked out of the family home when he was just three years old leaving him to be raised by his father in Denton, Manchester. Following his success with Simply Red, he went on to purchase a home in Chorlton, not far from his favourite football team, Manchester United. The house, which he bought for £70,000 back in 1997, is detached and features two huge bay windows on the front. Also in Chorlton, brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb of The Bee Gees lived in a terraced house on Keppel Road for seven years. They went on to make their debut performance as The Rattlesnakes in 1957 at the former Gaumont cinema in the area. Oldham-raised Mark Owen may have traded rainy Manchester in favour of Los Angeles but he was once just a northern kid who lived in a terraced house. Further out of town, in the village and civil parish of Holmes Chapel, One Direction's Harry Styles grew up in a quaint three-bedroom property. In March the mid-terraced property was listed for sale for £350,000 and was previously on the market in November 2023. 'With neutral decor throughout, offering ready to walk into accommodation which comprises of a living room to the front with feature fire place and a box bay window, while to the rear is the heart of this home - an open plan living and dining kitchen,' the estate agents, Gascoigne Halman said. Harry is now believed to reside in north London having moved out of the family home soon after rising to fame with One Direction.

PICTURED: The personalised plane Liam and Noel Gallagher will use for Oasis's comeback tour this summer... It's just a shame it's not Supersonic

When Oasis launch their reunion tour in July, it appears they will be jetting off in style. Fans will be thrilled to see a photograph which shows an aircraft adorned with the band's logo as the countdown to the Gallagher brothers' gigs really takes off. And thankfully for the warring siblings, it's rather big – so they'll be able to have their own wings. The snap, which is believed to have been taken inside a hangar at Luton Airport, showed staff putting the 'Oasis live '25' branding on to the livery of the aircraft. With the tour starting on July 4 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, excited fans began to speculate on how far apart Liam and Noel Gallagher, pictured, would have to seat themselves just in case tensions begin to flare. The tour includes 17 gigs in the UK, as well as several abroad, ending on November 23 in São Paulo, Brazil. 'The photograph of the plane with an Oasis logo has raised excitement amongst fans as the start of the tour grows closer and closer,' said one record label source. It has emerged that Noel, 57, alongside Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Mikey Rowe were locked inside a secret London studio for six hours on Thursday on the back of a week spent perfecting the tour's setlist, which could include hits such as Supersonic. Meanwhile, Liam, 52, is currently at his £4 million six-bedroom holiday home in Cannes which he bought two years ago. Sources have told The Mail on Sunday that Liam and Noel plan to spend most of their time apart ahead of the tour, coming together only for some rehearsal sessions. Friends say relations between the brothers are 'absolutely fine' but they have very different lifestyles these days. Liam tries to drink less and eat as healthily as possible. Meanwhile Noel is set to be as involved as possible ahead of the sell-out tour.

Oasis fans to shell out more than £1bn on reunion tour, study shows

Oasis fans are expected to splash out more than £1bn on the reunion tour including tickets, accommodation, food, drink, outfits and merchandise, according to research that found a quarter of ticket holders would have been happy to spend even more. The band's comeback concerts after a 15-year hiatus are expected to be the most popular, and profitable, run of gigs in British history. Research by Wonderwallets, part of the Barclays Consumer Spend report, estimates £1.06bn will be spent by the 1.4 million fans attending the 17 UK tour dates – more than £757 a person. However, the excitement around once again being able to see the Mancunian band live has been marred by a scandal over 'dynamic' ticket pricing, which led to some fans paying more than £350 for tickets with a face value of £150, and has prompted an investigation by the UK competition watchdog. Nevertheless, six in 10 ticket holders said that while they had spent more than planned on tickets they believed the experience of seeing Liam and Noel Gallagher finally bury the hatchet would be worth it, with 24% saying they wish they had spent more to secure better tickets. Aside from tickets, fans are expected to spend the most on accommodation, an average of £108. Travel and new outfits for the concert will also attract a considerable spend, calculated at £70.50 and £73.70, respectively, while an average of £59.70 will be spent on merchandise. More than £75 will be spent on pre-concert food and drinks, while the cost of a pint at venues such as Wembley Stadium and Manchester's Heaton Park will hit about £8. Almost 30% of fans surveyed said they intended to embrace 90s fashion trends at the concert, sporting baggy jeans, tracksuit jackets and trainers, while 14% are going as far as sporting a haircut inspired by the Gallagher brothers. The £1.06bn exceeds the estimate Barclays made for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour of £997m, although Oasis are playing two more nights than the US singer's UK tour last year. In justifying the cost, 16% of fans said they had bought tickets as a gift, while 30% described it as a 'sentimental purchase' due to the significance the band's music had played in their life. 'The experience economy is no longer a trend, it is a fundamental shift in how consumers determine their financial priorities,' said Rich Robinson, the head of hospitality and leisure at Barclays. 'Just as we saw with the Eras Tour, fans are willing to go to great lengths when there is an emotional connection. It isn't just about attending the event.'

Oasis reunion tour update as star confirms return

Former Oasis bassist Andy Bell says he will be joining Noel and Liam Gallagher on their reunion tour. Speaking about the tour, Bell said: 'I'm in and I'm really looking forward to it.' Bell joined Oasis in 1999 to replace bassist Paul McGuigan, who quit during the recording of the band's fourth album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants. The Gallagher brothers have not yet confirmed the full lineup for the hotly anticipated tour. The tour will consist of 41 international dates, starting July 4, 2025 in Cardiff.
