Crews battle fire in East Vancouver

Smoke from a fire in East Vancouver on July 20, 2025, can be seen in this photo. A fire in East Vancouver Sunday morning has resulted in road closures and bus detours. The blaze appears to be burning in a vacant building near East Hastings Street and Vernon Drive, sending plumes of smoke into the air that are visible from kilometres away. Buses that normally run along East Hastings Street are being diverted, and Clark Drive is also blocked off. CTV News has contacted police and the fire department for more information. Six roads in or near Stroud to close amid works

SIX roads in or near Stroud are to be closed so works can take place. Gloucestershire County Council has announced the temporary closures from July 21 to August 7. Calf Way to B4070, The Camp, Stroud, will be shut from 8am on July 21 to 5pm on July 22 for Severn Trent Water works. The lane from Amberley Inn to Spriggs Well will be closed from 8am on July 22 to 4pm on July 24 for Severn Trent Water works. School Lane, Whitminster, will close between July 23 and July 25 for pole replacement, pole testing, and cabling works. Daneway Lane, Sapperton, is set to close between July 22 and July 25 for ground investigation works. A4173 Gloucester Road, Edge, will be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm on August 7 for tree works. The junction at Marley Lane to Baker's Mill, Chalford, was originally closed for five days from July 7 for dangerous tree felling. This was not completed, so a closure order has been made that can last up to 18 months. Emergency access will be maintained on all roads except for Daneway Lane, where this will not be possible due to "excavations in the middle of the road." A council spokesperson said: "The council is aware of the disruption road closures cause and would like to apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused during these essential works. "We will make every effort to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum and that the works are completed as quickly as possible." For more information, contact Gloucestershire Highways on 08000 514 514 or visit Pedestrian access to premises on or next to the roads will be maintained. Alternative routes will be marked on site.

Lincoln overnight road closures announced

Drivers in Lincoln are being told to expect disruption with further overnight road closures in August, as work continues to improve access to new homes. Since April, work has been taking place to improve the eastern access to Tritton Road, for new housing development Charterholme. City of Lincoln Council said contractors would be installing new traffic lights at the junction of Tritton Road with Dixon Street. The junction will be closed between 20:00 BST and 06:00 from 4 to 15 August, it said. Temporary traffic lights and a diversion will be in place during the work, the council said. Maria Clayton, of City of Lincoln Council, said: "This is a key stage in delivering improved access to the Charterholme site and upgrading vital infrastructure along Tritton Road. "We understand road closures can be inconvenient, which is why our contractor is carrying out this work overnight to minimise disruption on the road network. We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as we work to complete these essential improvements." As part of the project, a new road bridge is being built over the railway line.
