Reward for information leading to sea lion killer in The Catlins now at $50k

The Sea Lion Trust is hoping an increased reward for information about the deaths of three female sea lions in the lower South Island will lead the authorities to the person responsible.
A pup and her mother were found dead with gunshot wounds in The Catlins in September and October last year, and a third female was found with stab wounds in November and had to be euthanised.
The trust, with the help of an anonymous benefactor, has increased the reward for information leading to a conviction to $50,000.
Sea Lion Trust co-chairperson Bryony Alden said the New Zealand sea lion was nationally endangered and was one of the rarest sea lions in the world.
He hopes the reward will help bring justice for the three sea lions.
Anyone that has information about any of the three sea lion deaths is urged to reach out to the Sea Lion Trust, police or the Department of Conservation.
