Ethan Hawke Returns In First Trailer For 'Black Phone 2'
The 2021 horror movie The Black Phone became a surprise horror hit for Blumhouse based on the short story of the same name by author Joe Hill. Because the film was such a hit, earning $161.4 million on a budget between $16-18 million, a sequel was greenlit several years later. Now the full trailer for the follow-up – titled Black Phone 2 – has been released by Universal. Interestingly, the new sequel revolves around the characters from the first film, with the roles having been aged up to reflect the increased age of the actors. Ethan Hawke also returns to play The Grabber, the brutal antagonist of the first film, which this trailer depicts in a more Freddy Krueger style fashion. Here's the official trailer for Black Phone 2 : This trailer for Black Phone 2 puts an emphasis on the tense atmosphere that the film will feature, with an emphasis on its snowy winter setting, something which is a change from the original. Likewise, the footage is grainy and dark, with the signature use of filmic imagery that is enough to make viewers' blood run as cold as the wintery shots depicted. The cast for Black Phone 2 , as the trailer features, includes returning cast members Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies and Miguel Mora. For Hawke's character, given his fate in the preceding flick, it looks like his role as The Grabber has expanded into a more supernatural threat. Scott Derrickson returned to direct the follow-up for Blumhouse and Universal which was once again written by C. Robert Cargill and Derrickson. The two seem to have cracked a great idea that made producing a sequel a worthwhile endeavor. Black Phone 2 is scheduled to hit theaters later this year on October 17, 2025. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding this highly-anticipated sequel to the horror hit The Black Phone as we have them.

Black Phone sequel releases terrifying new teasers
The Black Phone 2 has unveiled three terrifying new teasers, ahead of its upcoming release. The original movie followed shy 13-year-old Finney Shaw (Mason Thames), who was abducted by a mask-wearing child killer known as The Grabber (Ethan Hawke). But things take an eerie turn when a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring and Finney hears the voices of The Grabber's previous victims. The horror sequel is scheduled to hit cinemas later this year with Thames, Hawke, Madeleine McGraw and Jeremy Davies reprising their roles. While the plot details are being kept under wraps, new footage released by Fandango has revealed a key location, different victims and, of course, a black phone. 'The phone is ringing again. 'Sinners' Sequel Rumored To Be In Development At WB
The 2025 new release Sinners was a major success in every way – financially, critically, and with moviegoers. Therefore, it may not be surprising to hear that a sequel to Sinners is rumored to be in development at Warner Bros. Ryan Coogler tackled the movie which placed a traditional vampire plot amidst the drama and tensions of two criminal brothers returning to their hometown in Mississippi in 1932. Michael B. Jordan played both of the brothers, a pair of twins, while other cast members included Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo. While most of these characters met the kind of fate you'd expect to see in a vampire movie, there is certainly enough room for a follow-up, and that means the aforementioned sequel is a very real possibility. Although nothing is confirmed at this point, a listing on Production Weekly mentions Sinners 2 , suggesting that the film is in development. When considering the success of the film, however, and the many possibilities for expanding the story, it's a listing that does make sense. For those who've seen the film, they know that the movie features a post-credits scene where Michael B. Jordan's Stack and Hailee Steinfeld's Mary are both alive as vampires in 1992. A sequel could follow these characters in that time period, or any other moment in history between 1932 and now. Furthermore, some fans have even clamored for a prequel, one that could further track the spread of vampirism from Ireland to the southern United States. As of this writing, Sinners grossed $341 million worldwide with a $90 million budget. Its earnings led the film to become the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2025. When considering Sinners is an original IP, the accolades are even more impressive. Of course, we'll have to wait and see if a Sinners sequel even gets an official greenlight. For now, however, the possibility of such a follow-up seems high. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the possibility for Sinners 2 as we have them.

READY OR NOT: HERE I COME Producer on the Film Expanding the Twisted Mythology — GeekTyrant
The game's not over yet. Ready or Not: Here I Come , the follow-up to the 2019 cult horror hit, is officially in motion, and according to producer James Vanderbilt, it's not just more of the same. Instead, the sequel plans to mess with the board entirely, pushing the twisted Le Domas family mythology into new, darker corners without unraveling what made it so chilling to begin with. In a recent chat with ComicBook about his new Apple TV+ film Fountain of Youth , Vanderbilt gave fans a few carefully chosen details about the film, enough to intrigue, but not spoil. 'There are a couple of different ways we are doing it. I don't want to give anything away... What I will say is one of the reasons it has taken a minute to make this sequel was that we were really hard on ourselves on not just repeating what the first movie was, but also, not losing the sauce of what the first movie was.' It's a smart strategy. The original film, anchored by Samara Weaving's feral final girl Grace, managed to walk a fine line between brutal horror and biting satire. According to Vanderbilt, the new film builds on that without letting the mythology get bogged down in too much explanation. When referring to the original's jaw-dropping ending, he said: 'It's interesting because there's a debate all the way through as to what is real and what is not. That is answered at the end of the first movie, so you can't put that Le Bail back in the bottle.' Writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy seemed to have cracked the next chapter of the story, and when talking about it, Vanderbilt said: 'What Guy and R. Christopher Murphy do in this script is incredibly smart. As soon as they pitched it, it was, 'Of course that's what it is. That's a great idea.' It's such a great way to tell this story.' What makes the sequel especially intriguing is its commitment to expanding the world without drowning it in exposition. 'I think it's safe to say we expand the mythology without explaining the entire mythology. I don't know if that sounds exciting, but it's exciting to us. I think it's the right amount of worldbuilding, while still telling an amazing emotional story.' That emotional core centers once again on Grace, with Weaving returning to the blood-soaked chaos. But this time, she's not alone. The cast lineup is stacked with Ant-Man 's Kathryn Newton, Buffy legend Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Elijah Wood. Then there's David Cronenberg, the master of body horror himself, who will be stepping in front of the camera in a rare acting role. Kevin Durand, fresh off Abigail , also joins the madness, playing a character said to be the 'polar opposite' of his vampire-hunting role. With Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) once again directing, fans can expect the same kinetic blend of chaos, gore, and sharp wit that made the first film a standout.

The Devil Wears Prada 2: Fans DIVIDED over the fate of Meryl Streep's character Miranda Priestly
The premise and release date for The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been revealed, and fans are divided over the plot line involving Meryl Streep 's ice queen Miranda Priestly. The upcoming sequel will follow Streep's iconic character as she navigates the challenges of the declining print magazine industry. She will also be facing off against Blunt's character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs, per Variety. This comes after news broke last year that a sequel to the 2006 comedy drama that originally starred Streep, 75, Anne Hathaway, 42, and Emily Blunt, 42, was greenlit at Disney. Last year, the three actresses reunited onstage at the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards in February 2024 for a skit based on their blockbuster hit movie. Only Streep and Blunt are confirmed to be returning for the follow-up film, which is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. With the storyline and release date finally unveiled, fans are sharing their mixed reactions. Last July, it was reported that Streep would be returning alongside Emily Blunt, but no other cast members have been officially confirmed yet. Stanley Tucci, who starred in the original movie, also mentioned the forthcoming sequel but did not disclose whether or not he would be reprising his role. 'I know they're working on it. If it happens, I would be so happy, but I cannot give you any information. Otherwise, I'll go to the actor's prison or something,' he told Variety in January. '[The original] was one of the best experiences ever,' he added. About the movie, which comes two decades after the first, many fans shared their excitement as they praised the 'realistic' plot line. However, others slammed the idea of making another movie to follow up the beloved movie as they criticized lazy sequels. The Devil Wears Prada, the original 2006 movie, was based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel about a young journalist's nightmarish experience working at a fashion magazine. Weisberger previously worked as a personal assistant for American Vogue editor Anna Wintour, though she never said that Priestly is at all based on her former boss. However, she did clarify her book is partially fictional as well as partially based on real-life events of her and her friends at their first jobs. Streep starred as Miranda Priestly, the icy editor-in-chief of the fictional Runway magazine. Hathaway played Andrea Sachs, a young woman freshly out of journalism school, who lands the job that 'a million girls would kill for' as Priestly's assistant. There, she faces the challenge of working for her hard-to-please boss who constantly reminds her that she disapproves of her 'no style or sense of fashion.' Blunt is Priestly's first assistant who trains Andy, while Tucci plays Nigel, a longtime fashion editor who helps Andy revamp her closet and find her confidence again. 'Oooh this is going to be good,' one person tweeted. 'Yep. I'm interested for part 2.' 'I actually love this,' one social media user tweeted on X before sharing a suggestion for the forthcoming movie. 'Also, another Miranda origin story would be great.' 'Can't wait to see Miranda back,' another X user shared 'I mean, that's actually a decent premise,' another fan added 'Oooh this is going to be good,' one person tweeted. 'Yep. Another fan joked that they 'can't wait' to see whether somebody is 'definitely getting fired.' Though many were excited about the plot reveal, there were other fans who were equally upset about a sequel being in the works. 'NO ONE ASKED FOR THAT! Stop destroying great movies with useless sequels,' another X user wrote. 'We don't need this,' one person said in agreement with the criticism 'You've got to be kidding me,' one person criticized the plot line. 'It's obvious there aren't any more original ideas. Everything is getting a part 2' 'For the love of God, enough with the sequels,' another person wrote as they criticized the forthcoming sequel.
