After six seasons, the Handmaid's Tale is over. What do fans think of the finale?

This article contains spoilers of season 6 of The Handmaid's Tale The Handmaid's Tale has wrapped up after six seasons and fans are busy reacting on social media to the series finale. Over on Reddit, a user who calls themselves "the icecream assassin" posted: "Blessed be the work of every single person whose hands touched this show. It's been a trip." Many were satisfied with the finale's key moments. But the series came to a disappointing conclusion for others. "Thanks for nothing in that final episode," Instagram user "corianneee" commented on an official post from the show's distributors. "What a wasted opportunity." From unhappy "Team Nick" fans to frustration over June's lack of reunion with daughter Hannah, Fiona Williams, head of curation at SBS On Demand and host and producer of SBS's award-winning companion podcast Eyes On Gilead, joined ABC News to break down the social media reaction. One of the biggest sticking points for viewers of the show is June never got her eldest daughter Hannah back. Many fans pointed out that this had been June's mission from day one and the fact she wasn't reunited with her daughter after six seasons left them flabbergasted. "I think the worst part of it all is that we never got an ending that included Hannah," said one social media user. "Hannah was the entire mission from day one." Williams says she understands the frustration, but a happy ending would have been inconsistent with the show. "There are people who are upset that June didn't get her daughter Hannah [back] because that has been her North Star throughout," Williams said. "She's the reason that she stayed in Gilead, she's the reason she went back to Gilead, so for some fans they're very upset that she didn't get Hannah, but I think that's also the point of the show. "The fight does continue, and it ends with Hannah a little bit closer to June but June's continuing the fight, and I think that's the underlying message of The Handmaid's. "I never expected it to wrap up in a neat bow. It's drawn from historical records. "[Author] Margaret Atwood was very clever in drawing all of the horrors from history so that it always stays true to the times, and I think for the series adaptation to have gone for the ultimate happy ending just would not be right and I think we'd be up in arms about that. "And also, there is the sequel. So, I do think The Testaments has ensured that there wasn't going to be a Hannah reunion." On the flip side, Williams says viewers are relieved that Janine (Madeline Brewer) did get her happy ending. "I do think the Janine moment, because everyone wanted it for so long, the pay-off on that was enough for a lot of people," Williams said. "I might have liked one more scene but certainly on the podcast, I'm in the minority. "The three others absolutely loved the Janine emancipation and to have her daughter Charlotte, who is her Gilead child, handed back to her was all she ever wanted." Williams says the response to Serena's storyline has been mixed. Serena is played by Yvonne Strahovski, who grew up in Werrington Downs in western Sydney and then Croydon in the inner west as the daughter of Polish immigrants. "I think the June and Serena storyline throughout, they've always been sort of two sides of the same coin in that they're both these mighty women who when they're on the same team, they're really formidable," Williams said. "[Serena] understood the brutality [of the regime], but she has never until the finale taken actual responsibility for what she did and her role in bringing Gilead into being and for the rape and torture of June throughout. "So, they have a beautiful moment in the finale, actually, in that that was really touching … where she takes full responsibility and a genuine apology is offered up to June. It's not transactional. "And June shows grace to Serena … so fans appreciate June's side of it. [But] I think there is still of course the 'Serena got away with it' side of social media reactions." Many fans of the series, who were also fans of Nick (Max Minghella), were not happy about his character arc or demise. "Whoever was in charge of season 6 'The handmaid's Tale' I am so very angry with you," one person posted. "Nick died! Y'all are so wrong for that! Why? Like just why? I literally cried! How disappointing!" Williams says there are a lot of unhappy fans in the Nick camp. "Team Nick is not happy," Williams said. "Nick Blaine, June's love in Gilead, through the years he was always a bit of a brooding, kind of quiet type, which I think was part of the attraction for a lot of people but there was an overriding assumption that he was working for good within Gilead. "He was kind of like the archetype of the good German. "Turns out, not so much. "There was an episode this season where it was revealed that he was working in Gilead and not actually doing anything for the resistance. "He revealed a big plan that ultimately led to the massacre of loads of innocent women … he betrayed June in terms of giving up a secret plan for Mayday and that exposed that, ultimately, he was a Gilead man and June couldn't forgive him. "She was shocked to the core as were 'Team Nick' and they felt it was not true to the character. "And then they killed them off. "He went down in a plane crash, not a hero's death, and I do think 'Team Nick' are really going through it." Season 6 of the Handmaid's Tale is on SBS On Demand while seasons 1-5 can be found on Stan. Eyes On Gilead will host a live episode and finale watch party on Saturday.

‘Suits LA' Series Finale Explained After NBC Cancellations: Who Died? Were There Surprise Cameos?

Suits LA has come to an end after one season — but did the series finale go out on a high? During the Sunday, May 18, finale, Ted (Stephen Amell) partnered with his ex Samantha (Rachelle Goulding) to go up against a powerful — but dangerous — producer. This paved the way for Ted and Samantha's law firms to merge after their falling out earlier in the season. There was also progress in Rick (Bryan Greenberg) and Erica's (Lex Scott Davis) relationship after she finally decided to give him a chance. Elsewhere in the finale, flashbacks revealed how Ted's father contributed to his brother, Eddie's (Carson A. Egan), death. Suits LA's end is as satisfying as it could get after NBC pulled the plug on the show earlier this month. The network shocked fans by not renewing Lopez vs. Lopez, Night Court, Found, The Irrational and Suits LA. Breaking Down Some Major Similarities Between the Original 'Suits' and 'Suits LA' NBC has since renewed The Hunting Party and Brilliant Minds, but those are the only freshman shows that survived their inaugural seasons — in addition to Grosse Pointe Garden Society, which is still on the bubble. The tough decisions come after the network signed an 11-year deal with the NBA. Suits LA, which premiered in February, is a spinoff that was ordered by NBC in response to a resurgence in interest after the original Suits was added to Netflix and Peacock. Set in a fictional New York City corporate law firm, the original Suits followed associate lawyer Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who started working with Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). The legal drama, which ran from 2011 to 2019, focused on Harvey and Mike winning lawsuits and closing cases while simultaneously hiding Mike's secret that he didn't go to law school. NBC's newest version starred Amell, Davis, Greenberg and Josh McDermitt as fictional attorneys in feuding Los Angeles firms. The short-lived spinoff brought back Macht and Rick Hoffman from the OG show before its series finale. Keep scrolling to find out where each character ended up: While initially refusing to work with Samantha on a potential class action lawsuit against a powerful Hollywood producer, the exes were able to bring him down. Ted got help from Elizabeth (Sofia Pernas), which didn't sit well with his other love interest Amanda (Maggie Grace). Amanda changed her mind once she realized Ted was going up against the producer because he nearly assaulted Rosalyn (Azita Ghanizada) when she worked for him years prior. Ted ended the season — and the series — on good terms with everyone in his life after agreeing to merge with Samantha and Stuart's (McDermitt) firm. Ted was also able to make peace with his past as he recalled how his brother, Eddie, died in an explosion that was meant for Ted. Their father knew — and chose to sacrifice Eddie — which led to his fallout with Ted. Suits LA wrapped up with Erica confronting her feelings for Rick. Despite previously shutting down a chance at them having a real future, Erica reconsidered after seeing how much he cared about her. Erica's last scene was her confronting Rick in his apartment before the couple officially got together. The Most Star-Studded Celebrity Appearances on NBC's 'Suits LA': From Sofia Pernas to Gabriel Macht The criminal defense lawyer continued to mend his friendship with Ted by using his position as the executor of Ted's dad's will to name a park after Eddie. Stuart then asked Ted if he wanted to merge their firms and the friends reminisced on getting to work together again soon. After turning down Dylan's (Victoria Justice) advances, Rick went against Erica in court for his client. Rick explained to Dylan that they couldn't give romance a try because he still cared for someone else. By the end of the series, Rick made his feelings for Erica clear and they finally gave their relationship a real try.

Suits LA Ends With Another Firm Shake-Up, a Hook-Up and a Love Triangle — Were You Satisfied?

Watching Suits LA's series finale, it's clear that the episode was never intended to be the final one. While there are several full-circle moments going back to the pilot, they act more as new beginnings for a potential second season than as closure. But whether you enjoyed the West Coast offshoot or found yourself wishing you could spend more time with Harvey Specter & Co., the fact of the matter is that the NBC drama got the cancellation axe, so this is where Ted Black's journey ends. In the finale, Ted and his ex Samantha teamed up to take down abusive Hollywood producer Avery Jeffers (guest star Mike O'Malley), who used to be Rosalyn's boss. Her time working for him, during which he tried to assault her, proved to be crucial to the case, as did the files of Marvin the HR rep, who was also employed by Avery. Ted took what he had to prosecutor Elizabeth Smith, even though he knew it could cost him the respect of Amanda, who doesn't like Elizabeth's ways. Their plan to take away Avery's power worked… but also unexpectedly landed Ted in a bit of a love triangle. Samantha told Ted that watching him work did make her fall for him. 'Then or now?' Ted asked, but they were interrupted before she could answer. Meanwhile, Amanda admitted to Ted that he made the right call and that she, too, cares about what he thinks of her. She confessed to making a mistake when she said she couldn't be head of criminal and get involved with him. She asked him out for a drink, and he said he needed to see someone that night, but they could go tomorrow. Then Ted ran into Samantha, who wanted to know what he thought of Stuart's offer to go through with their merger. Ted noted that Samantha implied that she was falling for him again. She's not afraid to mix business and the personal, she replied, and so what if he has feelings for Amanda? 'I'm not afraid of messy,' she declared, to which Ted replied that he was so in on the merger. (It helped that Ted and Stuart had a moment after the latter used Ted's dad's money to name and expand a park in Eddie's memory, with Kevin's help. Speaking of Kevin, he took the job at Ted's firm.) In other romantic entanglements, Dylan went to sign with Erica, thinking that Rick being her lawyer was the only thing standing in the way of them exploring a relationship. Rick later admitted to Dylan that he has feelings for someone else, and he can't be with anyone for now. So Dylan went back to having Rick represent her, which pissed off Erica, who assumed that Rick was badmouthing her. When an angry Erica showed up at his home, hurling accusations, Rick told her the truth about how he can't get over her and exclaimed that she was too scared of getting hurt to give them a shot. But she (hopefully) proved him wrong, planting a big, steamy kiss on him. Elsewhere, the flashbacks to New York 2010 detailed the fateful day that Eddie died. Ted and Eddie's father changed their plans to take just Ted out to dinner. The two men were even bonding when Kevin called Ted to inform him that Pellegrini put a hit on him. Ted raced to his apartment, where Eddie was watching TV, but it was too late. When his dad didn't show up for the funeral, Ted confronted him, and his father confessed that he didn't regret his choice to save Ted and let Eddie be killed. viewers, what did you think of the series ender? Sopranos star reveals James Gandolfini's savage two-word response to that infamous ending

It's been nearly 18 years since HBO 's The Sopranos ended with one of the most controversial series finales of all time, with star Lorraine Bracco revealing how her co-star James Gandolfini really thought of the ending. The series was a massive hit for HBO, following Gandolfini's Tony Soprano and his New Jersey mafia family, running six seasons spanning 86 episodes. Bracco, 70, played Tony Soprano's psychiatrist, Jennifer Melfi, throughout the show's run, where it amassed 21 Emmys and is credited for starting the Second Golden Age of Television. For as popular and beloved as the series was, the finale, written and directed by series creator David Chase, is still among the most controversial of all time. The final scene takes place at Holsten's diner in New Jersey, where Tony is in a booth with his family, his eyes darting to the door every time the bell rings when someone enters. Bracco was promoting her new Netflix film Nonnas, when Fallon asked her to clear up a rumor that she didn't love The Sopranos ending, revealing her co-star Gandolfini's stunned two-word response: 'That's it?" It's been nearly 18 years since HBO 's The Sopranos ended with one of the most controversial series finales of all time, with star Lorraine Bracco revealing how her co-star James Gandolfini really thought of the ending. The final scene shows Tony waiting at Holsten's, ultimately joined one-by-one by his wife Carmela (Edie Falco) and son A.J. (Robert Iler) as Journey's Don't Stop Believin' is playing at the table's jukebox, while he keeps eyeing the door every time it opens and the bell rings. They're waiting for his daughter Meadow (Jamie Lynn Sigler), who is running towards the diner, the bell rings one last time as he looks up, and the show ends abruptly with a final cut to black that the show's legions of fans did not see coming. While the ending didn't sit well with many of the show's fans, it apparently also didn't sit well with Gandolfini himself, according to Bracco. 'I'll tell you the truth, I was sitting next to Jimmy Gandolfini. And he just went like this,' as she stands up to mimic the actor, quoting him stating, 'That's it? That's it?' She added, 'And you know how he always used to push his hair back, and he just walked out. He was like, "That's it?" He couldn't believe it. I said, "Yeah, I guess that's it.' Bracco didn't seem to be a fan of it herself, though she admitted, 'You know, the only thing I can say is people are still talking about it. So, I guess David did do something interesting.' Holsten's is a real diner Bloomfield, New Jersey, which auctioned off the same booth The Sopranos sat in for over $82K last year. Creator David Chase has never confirmed whether Tony Soprano lived or died after the infamous cut to black, though he did open up in 2021 about how surprised he was about the uproar over the final shot. 'I had no idea it would cause that much — I mean, I forget what was going on in Iraq or someplace; London had been bombed! Nobody was talking about that; they were talking about The Sopranos,' he told THR. 'It was kind of incredible to me. But I had no idea it would be that much of an uproar. And was it annoying? What was annoying was how many people wanted to see Tony killed. That bothered me,' he added. 'They wanted to know that Tony was killed. They wanted to see him go face-down in linguini, you know? And I just thought, 'God, you watched this guy for seven years and I know he's a criminal. But don't tell me you don't love him in some way, don't tell me you're not on his side in some way,' he said. '"And now you want to see him killed? You want justice done? You're a criminal after watching this s**t for seven years.' That bothered me, yeah,' he admitted.
