Unwind This Eid Al Adha at Talise Spa: A Coastal Sanctuary for the Soul
Photo: RUPERT PEACE Elsewhere, the Remedy Suite steps into the future of wellness. Cryotherapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, and infrared detox treatments provide touchless healing for modern ailments: jet lag, stress, or simply the wear of a relentless schedule. These aren't gimmicks — they're tools for restoration, grounded in science and guided by care. For those yearning for deeper calm, the Mindfulness Lounge may be where the holiday truly begins. Here, vibroacoustic therapy merges sound, vibration, and meditative practice in a setting that feels more sanctuary than spa. Whether choosing a Sleep Well journey or a program aimed at easing anxiety, the intention is simple: to make space for stillness. Evoto Photo: RUPERT PEACE And if indulgence is part of your Eid tradition, Talise Spa offers its own kind of luxury — one that doesn't shout, but soothes. Facials and body treatments fuse clinical innovation with ancient wisdom, from oxygen-rich skincare rituals to body sculpting with cryo therapies. Every treatment is an invitation to return to yourself. Eid Al Adha is a time of reflection, connection, and renewal. At Talise Spa, those values are not only welcomed — they are honoured. This is not just a destination for pampering, but a retreat for the senses and the spirit. As the city celebrates, perhaps the greatest gift you can offer yourself is a few hours by the sea, in the stillness, finding balance once more.

Fresh Luxury: Oil Nut Bay Resort Adds New Villas And Spa In The BVI
The just opened overwater spa in the water surrounding the British Virgin Islands Resort Oil Nut Bay. Oil Nut Bay On the eastern end of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, located on 400 acres of land surrounded on three sides by turquoise water, Oil Nut Bay has been a tranquil respite since its opening a decade ago. The only thing it was missing was a spa, particularly noticeable as wellness travel began to zoom in travelers' interests the last few years. So this year, enter Sundara Spa + Studio, a center of healing and restorative experiences situated for extra relaxation, overwater. The new six bedroom hilltop estate Wings on sale for $32.5 million but available to rent by the week. Oil Nut Bay Being located in the British Virgin Islands also helps. This group of 50 islands with consistent trade winds has long been known as a sailors' paradise, lending a laid back overall tone. There are top level resorts but not to a point of overdevelopment and several of those resorts are on private islands: Richard Branson's Necker and Moskito, Peter Island, Guana Island. And even though these islands are not that far away, they've never been that easy to get to directly from the U.S.; instead a network of small planes, ferries and charters were required. (The addition of a flight from Miami to Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island, the country's main air gateway in 2023 has certainly helped, though. Oil Nut Bay owners and guests can also reserve NetJets charters from any U.S. airport to Beef Island at the same rate as a NetJets member.) The dining area of the five bedroom Maronti Villa. Oil Nut Bay Within this overall environment, Oil Nut Bay fits right in, designed not as a large, internationally branded hotel with buzzing activity but as a low density expanse of luxury homes and villas. There are 51 overall with 31 available to rent ranging from cliffside suites to seven-bedroom estates such as the new 9.513 square foot Wings which is on the market for $32.5 million but also available to rent by the week and has six freestanding bedrooms each with its own plunge pool. The interior of the villa Casino Royale. Oil Nut Bay Other homes hitting the rental market for the first time this season are the newly constructed 4,154 square foot, five bedroom Quintessa and the six bedroom, waterfront Casino Royale. (Other home sites and villas are still available to buy with prices ranging from $1.95 million to Wings' $32.5 million.) Half of the property's 400 acres is still devoted to green space, though, so it's hardly overcrowded. The recently redesigned Beach Club with three pools and a restaurant. Tanveer Badal Photography / TANV There are also significant facilities. Bordering the mile long beach, the recently redesigned beach club has three pools, an open air restaurant and a swim up bar; the fitness center has a top-of-the-line gym, pickleball and tennis courts; younger family members have their own Kids Club and interactive nature center. Adjacent to the full service 101 slip marina, Marina Village contains the overwater restaurant Nova serving Caribbean cuisine, seafood and sushi, a pool with day beds and boutique and the Deep Bay watersports center for kiteboarding, windsurfing, snorkeling plus Hobie cat sailing and waterskiing lessons. The lounge attached to the restaurant Nova at Marina Village. Oil Nut Bay The opening of the Sundara Spa + Studio this month obviously adds to the options. Treatments include massages utilizing a mixture of orange, clove, ginger and seaweed, or emulating the movements of the sea to relieve muscular tension; a seaweed leaf wrap to soften and nourish the skin and skin renewal facials. Wellness rituals include yoga and sound healing. Starting in October, a four-day ritual will become part of the treatment menu including body wraps, massages and skin renewal facials all involving seaweed. The intended results: returning the guest to the real world in a state of relaxation, even more than the resort would produce on its own.

I stayed at the super relaxing Greek resort with hidden beaches, laid-back DJ tunes and private pools
ALL I can hear is the rustling of the tamarisk trees, splashing water and the occasional scrape of a patio chair. My inability to relax on holiday is certainly being tested. I could get used to this. 5 5 That's the ethos of the Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort tucked into the southern curve of Crete — slow and easy living. Having joined the Hilton's Curio Collection last year, the adults-only 5H resort still feels sparklingly new, despite having opened its doors in 2021. I spent the next few days in utter bliss. Barely an hour after checking in, my first stop was the spa for the hotel's complimentary 15-minute massage. I was surprised at how such a short session was one of the best I've ever had. The stubborn knots lining my shoulder blades were easily unkinked within a few minutes. The relaxation continued at the hotel swimming pools, with two to choose from. The main, bigger pool is the most popular, lined with sun loungers covered in squishy striped covers you sink into as you sunbathe, or snooze. Live DJ sets and even saxophone players sprang up throughout the day, but they did not feel overwhelming. There is just a laid-back, beach club vibe. I became a frequent visitor to the pool bar too, making it my mission to try all the signature cocktails. The Numo Tequila Sunrise was a firm favourite. The TUI guide to Crete from best beaches to passport rules The smaller, tucked-away swimming pool is the place for a quiet escape, with no music and just serene, bright-blue water overlooked by the mountains. While Crete doesn't have private beaches, the dark sandy one behind Numo feels secluded enough when swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. Fish tacos But the star of the show was my grandly named King Evergreen Absolute Suite, which was surrounded by a huge outdoor deck with its own plunge pool. While Crete doesn't have private beaches, the dark sandy one behind Numo feels secluded enough when swimming in the Mediterranean Sea When I craved some privacy in the evenings, I relaxed on private loungers while dipping my toes into the water. Rooms are inspired by the tamarisk trees that line the coastline, with muted green, grey and brown decor. Even the entry-level rooms come with this modern palette and a balcony or terrace. My suite was definitely a step up, though, with a cosy lounge area, spacious bedroom and huge open-plan bathroom complete with a roll-top bath. A day of drinking wine on the patio meant I needed to line my stomach, and stays at the Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort can include breakfast or half-board with dinner. The buffet restaurant Tamarisk has some of the best views of the house, with the pool to one side and the beach to the other. But what the buffet lacks in size, it makes up for in taste. One evening, my rich lamb was accompanied by spinach orzo, and a cabbage and kimchee salad. The next day, I gorged on creamy pasta with barbecued chicken and a variety of Greek salads. The spread at breakfast includes fresh hot pastries, bread, fruit and cooked options. There is also a speciality restaurant called Menoa, serving Peruvian cuisine such as fresh fish tacos, and you will get a discount if staying half-board. Guests can head to Kafené, the onsite cafe and gift shop, for an authentic Greek coffee made by heating it in sand. I was amazed by how quiet the resort felt, despite being at full capacity. And there is more than enough to keep you busy. A highlight was the outdoor cinema, screening films such as Mamma Mia! and Barbie every evening. You can spend the afternoon browsing the hotel's clothes shop before a personal training session at the gym. While the resort does its best to stop you from wanting to leave, we took a day trip to nearby Kristas. One of the oldest villages on the island, it has pretty, winding alleyways and hundreds of plants surrounding doorways. 5 5 It is also the best place for a souvenir, with locally made jewellery and clothing stores alongside more touristy trinket spots, selling magnets and pottery. It is only as the midday heat started getting to me that I was tempted back to the hotel for a dip in the ocean before yet another delicious dinner. I had certainly never felt so zen. Who needs yoga when you can head to Numo instead?

How Champneys made us fall in love with spa hotels
A wooden paddle, ice cold facial roller, essential oils and sips of warm lemon water are all key components of Champneys' latest treatment, the '100 Years Face & Body Reset'. I instantly felt the benefits: energised legs, tighter skin and shoulder knots eased. My pampering took place at the original Champneys in Tring, Hertfordshire and was inspired by the spa's century-old treatment back catalogue which neatly combines nostalgia with cutting edge, much like the hotel itself where white robes, dance classes and detoxes are offered alongside of-the-moment cryotherapy and vitamin IV drips. I suspect it's one of the reasons the brand has survived for so long on the wellbeing scene – there's something for everyone. When Champneys first opened in 1925, there was nothing else like it in the UK. Established by Latvian wellbeing pioneer Stanley Leif, his Nature Cure Resort set in 170 acres was aimed at customers open-minded and wealthy enough to invest in holistic self-care that found the root cause of ailments rather than merely treating the symptoms. Guests, once described as 'starved, irrigated and beaten, but for a good cause,' would detox for weeks on warm lemon water and little else at the red brick mansion house, while taking part in immune-boosting treatments like hot and cold plunges (sound familiar?), combined with stretching and walks in the open air. In the 1970s global spa specialists Tanya Wheway and her late husband Allan were invited to manage Champneys, successfully transforming the brand from elitist holistic bootcamp to healthy holiday for all. In a time before mental health was front and centre, the decision to provide Lifestyle Consultants (psychologists) alongside fitness experts and dieticians was pioneering. 'What you're eating's important, but more important is what's eating you,' was Allan's mantra, says Tanya, who was also behind world-famous spa Chiva Som in Thailand. A star-studded era followed its purchase in 2002 by Stephen Purdew and his late mother Dorothy (or Mrs P as she was affectionately known by employees), who also owned three spa resorts which were rebranded under the Champneys name. Sporting heroes such as Frank Bruno and George Best would pop in for a sauna while super models and movie stars including Naomi Campbell, Barbara Streisand and Brad Pitt also donned a white robe. Its most famous guest, however, was Princess Diana – though staff remained discreet about the details of her visit, says Wheway. Fast-forward to today and the headline-making A-list visits of the early 2000s are a distant memory, with the average Champneys guest more likely to be working in accounts than Hollywood. The UK spa scene has radically altered too. Lemon water detoxes and Mr Motivator-esque fitness classes have long been relegated to spa room 101. Guests now tend to visit for a day or overnight stay rather than weeks and the vast majority are women compared to a century ago when it was men who were more likely to sign up for the Nature Cure. However, it's notable how many popular treatments today have their origins in the last century. 'It's gone full circle,' agrees Champneys' Wellbeing Director Louise Day, who says that the benefits of breathwork, for example, were recognised by Stanley Leif 100 years ago and are once again featuring heavily on spa programmes. Day has been with the company for decades and seen the fitness offer change organically from the 'feel the burn' era of Jane Fonda-style classes to the launch of bootcamps, PT sessions and strength training. She says guests are more focused on variety and personalisation, with mobility and HITT classes now part of the mix. According to Innovation Director Kate Taylor, Gen Z are the most clued-up generation health-wise thanks to social media, with most understanding that if 80 per cent of your wellbeing comes from lifestyle choices and just 20 per cent from genes, it's vital to start educating and looking after yourself way before the 35 years marker – the age your body officially starts to deteriorate. Gulp. Consequently, longevity and lifestyle are current buzz words in the spa world which Taylor believes will help shape wellness over the next 10 years. In response, Champneys is rolling out more retreats than ever before (up to 200), covering everything from detoxing and the menopause to the slightly more woo: a 'Twilight Moon Manifesting' retreat and 'Wim Hof Fundamentals' getaway. Taylor says research shows that poor sleep health is a concern that spans the generations from boomers to Millennials, so retreats to help guests get some shut eye are an important offer. And in an era when technology is threatening to impose on all areas of life, it's interesting to learn that Champneys' Group Spa Director Laura Sheridan is a big believer in digital detoxing and thinks human touch will become 'ever more important' to guests feeling increasingly isolated in a high-tech world. It's safe to say there's no danger of robots taking over the massage treatments at Tring just yet. Champneys clearly won't be hanging up its white slippers any time soon, with a new spa in Marbella scheduled to open this year, which will sit alongside the existing four spa resorts (Tring, Forest Mere, Henlow and Springs), two hotels and two city spas. Its challenge is to remain relevant at a time when there are more luxurious UK spa hotels than ever before and to meet the demands of guests expecting results in record time. Amanda Statham travelled as a guest of Champneys Tring, which offers doubles from £140.

English adventure estate loved by both celebs and mums reveals plans for new holiday lodges
CARDEN Park Hotel in Cheshire has it all, a spa, champagne garden bar and adventure activities. The site has 197 rooms, including 18 suites, but it is set to have even more. Carden Park Hotel has received planning permission from the local council to build 67 luxury holiday lodges. The hotel filed plans back in October 2023, and Carden Park described the lodges as being 'a complementary and suitable addition to the wider hotel complex'. The Cheshire hotel on Broxton Road will operate the lodges on an 'owner-occupied basis', rather than renting them out to holidaymakers. Carden Park is very popular with visitors which is proven by its Tripadvisor rating which is 4.3 out of 5, with almost 8,000 reviews. One wrote: "Wow! This place is one of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying at." Another added: "The spa complex with outdoor garden was superb, it felt like we were on holiday abroad."
