Uncouth swearing woman who SPAT in Trump's justice department official's face pleads guilty in court

The foul-mouthed woman who spat on a former acting US Attorney is headed for a guilty plea in court. Emily Gabriella Sommer, 33, of the District of Columbia, was arrested on May 22 following an incident earlier that month in which she allegedly assaulted former US Attorney Edward R. Martin Jr. On May 8, Sommer - whilst walking a dog - approached Martin, who was mid-interview at the time. She yelled, 'Are you Ed Martin?' and then, 'You are Ed Martin!' at the official before seemingly lunging at him and spitting. Sommer then continued walking as she screamed: 'You are a disgusting man. F**k you, Ed Martin... My name is Emily Gabriella Sommer, and you are served,' according to the arrest affidavit. Martin was being interviewed in front of the US Attorney's Office in Washington, DC, at the time and the camera captured the entire exclehange. Later that day, Martin posted on X that he was 'thrilled to meet with the prosecutors, investigators and paralegals' on his Violent Crime and Narcotics Trafficking Section. An X account that is believed to belong to Sommer responded to the post saying, 'ED, that was me that spit in your face today...' The post continued: 'A pleasure to hawk a dehydrated, pithy white foam spit into your face. I only apologize that this city left me so dehydrated and unable to get water that I couldn't produce more to stain and drip down your face.' A criminal complaint was filed in US District Court in connection with the incident and Sommer was charged with three counts of assaulting, resisting or impeding a federal officer. Sommer made her first court appearance on May 22, and it reportedly did not go smoothly. She allegedly became 'agitated' when she learned prosecutors would seek a more serious assault charge that could send her to prison for up to eight years, according to Law & Crime. The 33-year-old allegedly spat on and kicked two US marshals while she was being removed from the courtroom, earning her two additional assault charges. The US Justice Department (DOJ) argued in June that Sommer had broken conditions of her release by targeting Martin on social media. She allegedly harassed him with comments such as: 'You mad, bro? You got fired, and then caught a loogie to the shoulder...' Days later Sommer was arrested at her DC apartment for allegedly defacing her neighbor's property. The suspect allegedly spray-painted the neighbor's front door with their name followed buy the word 'Spy,' according to police. It is also alleged that she attacked the neighbors door with a 'metal rod'. Sommer was placed in police custody in June and ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation. Sommer pleaded not guilty to all charges on July 30. Court records show a change of plea hearing for Sommer is set for Thursday afternoon before US District Judge Jia Cobb. Martin is known to be a controversial figure in Washington, DC. He has suggested that the 2020 presidential election was stolen and has also fired prosecutors and FBI investigators who worked on January 6 insurrection cases.

Revealed: 'Aston Villa players claim Mason Greenwood SPAT at Amadou Onana', sparking furious clash with Tyrone Mings during feisty pre-season friendly

Mason Greenwood has been accused of spitting at Aston Villa 's Amadou Onana during a heated pre-season clash in France — moments before the former Manchester United striker became involved in a tussle with Tyrone Mings that left the Marseille forward's shirt in tatters. The flashpoint came in the 87th minute of Saturday's pre-season friendly at the Stade Vwlodrome after Greenwood fouled Onana, shoved the midfielder as he got back to his feet and then tangled with Mings. Greenwood's shirt was ripped as the pair grappled. According to The Sun, Villa's players were said to be furious because Greenwood is alleged to have spat at Onana shortly before Mings intervened. Footage appears to show Onana react as if something touched his face, before later complaining to the referee about something, although it is not clear enough to definitively prove Greenwood spat at him. All three players — Greenwood, Mings and Onana — were booked, before Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi swiftly substituted Greenwood. The confrontation capped a bad-tempered finale that also saw De Zerbi and Villa manager Unai Emery clash on the touchline after a late challenge on former Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara. It is understood that Villa are not expected to push for further action, and any sanction would depend on whether the referee recorded the alleged spitting in his match report to the French FA. UEFA will not intervene as the fixture was a friendly. Marseille won Saturday's game 3-1 thanks to a second-half brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who struck twice after coming off the bench. Greenwood had earlier opened the scoring before Villa captain John McGinn levelled to make it 1-1 at half-time. The match was billed as a key part of both sides' pre-season preparations, with Marseille looking ahead to their Ligue 1 opener at Rennes on Friday and Villa fine-tuning ahead of facing Newcastle in the Premier League next weekend. Greenwood, 23, has been in prolific form this summer after scoring 22 goals in all competitions last season — his first campaign in France since leaving Manchester United in a £27million deal. He also found the net against Sevilla last weekend and hit a hat-trick against Dutch side Excelsior Maassluis in July. Marseille sporting director Mehdi Benatia moved earlier this month to quash speculation linking Greenwood with a move to Saudi Arabia, insisting: 'Greenwood will stay with us. He is not for sale. We want to keep him and consider him a key part of OM's project for the upcoming season.' Benatia's comments came amid reports that several Saudi Pro League clubs were weighing up bids for the former England international, who has quickly become a central figure for De Zerbi's side. The ex-Brighton boss has publicly praised Greenwood in recent months, describing him in April as 'a natural talent' and insisting he could be remembered 'as one of the best to ever play at the Stade Velodrome.' Greenwood last played for Man United in January 2022, shortly before his arrest on suspicion of rape and assault. He was subsequently charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. But all charges against him were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February 2023 after the withdrawal of key witnesses and new evidence coming to light. He spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Getafe, scoring 10 goals in 36 appearances, before joining Marseille on a permanent basis last summer. United are understood to have inserted a 50 per cent sell-on clause into the agreement.

Mason Greenwood ‘SPAT' at Amadou Onana to spark furious brawl with Tyrone Mings in Aston Villa friendly

MASON GREENWOOD allegedly SPAT at Amadou Onana to spark his furious brawl with Tyrone Mings. Marseille forward Greenwood had his shirt shredded by Aston Villa defender Mings during a bust-up in a pre-season clash in France on Saturday night. 9 9 9 9 And SunSport understands disgusted Villa players were raging because Greenwood is claimed to have spat at their £50million club-record signing Onana. Belgium star Onana recoiled, suddenly holding his own face as he turned towards French referee Benoit Millot after Greenwood appeared to spit at him. The 87th-minute flashpoint started when Greenwood hacked Onana to the ground, goaded and then shoved the Villa midfielder, who bounced up off the turf to confront him. England international Mings stepped in just as a grinning Greenwood, 23, seemed to commit the vile act. Greenwood's expression quickly changed as 6ft 5in Mings grabbed his collar and swung him around, with Onana also grappling as the former Manchester United player's shirt was ripped in a melee. Greenwood was booked, along with Mings and Onana, then immediately substituted by Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi. It is unlikely that Greenwood will face action unless the incident was included in ref Millot's report to the French FA. Uefa will not get involved because they have no jurisdiction over the 'friendly'. Villa do not plan to push for any further action to be taken. Unai Emery also squared up to De Zerbi during the powderkeg pre-season clash. Villa boss Emery saw red when Marseille old boy Boubacar Kamara was scythed down by Neal Maupay in injury time. Ex-Man Utd star Ashley Young at centre of huge brawl after controversial late penalty during Birmingham vs Ipswich clash De Zerbi, in charge of Brighton from 2022 to 2024, said: 'Unai complained about my players and I didn't like that. It's up to me to talk to them. 'The match was heated but that's what people came to see. They could have gone to the beach but they came to the Stade Velodrome.' Marseille won 3-1 as former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted twice after coming on as a second-half substitute. Greenwood scored the opening goal and laid on another for Aubameyang, with Villa skipper John McGinn having levelled to make it 1-1 at half-time. 9 9 9 9 9

BBC Arabic apologises for claiming Jews spit on Christians in ‘holiday ritual'

The BBC has been forced to apologise following claims by its Arabic service that Jews spit on Christians in a 'holiday ritual'. Claims were made in a video released by the corporation alongside an article titled 'Sukkot: Spitting and Assault on Christians and Harassment of Muslims on the Jewish Holiday'. In the video, released in October 2023, a caption claimed observant Jews celebrated their religious holiday, Sukkot, in Israel by spitting on Christians. After the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis (Camera) complained to the corporation, it was quickly corrected to say: 'Some observant Jews consider spitting on Christians a holiday ritual.' However, it took 19 months for a formal response to be issued. In the correspondence, the BBC said: 'We apologise for the errors and thank you for your patience in waiting for this reply/confirmation of corrections that were made in October 2023.' The footage sparked outrage after ultra-Orthodox Jews could be seen spitting on the ground alongside a procession of foreign Christian worshippers carrying a wooden cross in Jerusalem. The spitting scene, captured by a reporter at Israel's Haaretz newspaper, showed a group of foreign pilgrims beginning their procession through the limestone labyrinth of the Old City. They were retracing the steps along the route they believe Jesus took before his crucifixion, raising a giant wooden cross. However, ultra-Orthodox Jews in dark suits and broad-brimmed black hats squeezed past the pilgrims through narrow alleyways, their ritual palm fronds for the week-long Jewish holiday of Sukkot in hand. At least seven ultra-Orthodox Jews spit on the ground beside the Christian tour group. A second BBC Arabic article, published on the 22nd anniversary of the 9/11 and titled 'The story of suicide bombers throughout history: from the fanatical Jews, through Assassins, to the Jihadists', linked 'fanatical Jews' to the US terror attacks. The article describes the Sicarii, a militant Jewish group active during Roman occupation, as the earliest example of suicide attackers. It then went on to link them to modern jihadist tactics. The Sicarii seized Jerusalem with other forces during the Jewish revolt in 70AD, before retreating to Masada. However, Camera complained and argued that while the Sicarii did commit mass suicide at Masada, they did not carry out suicide attacks. Camera wrote in a complaint to the BBC: 'Since the Sicarii's attacks weren't suicidal, and their mass suicide was not an attack, they do not fit a narrative about suicide attacks at all. Yet, they are the only ones labelled 'fanatics' and 'extremists' in the entire article.' The BBC executive complaints unit agreed the original article contained a 'material inaccuracy' after Camera made further complaints. In a ruling issued on April 10, they said: 'Although the Sicarii may have preferred suicide to capture, there was no evidence of their using suicide as a means of an attack.' The headline was changed to 'The Story of Suicide Bombers Throughout History: From Assassins to Jihadists'. Lord Carlile, the government's former independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, condemned the piece at the time and warned the BBC about publishing 'deliberate and sometimes even casual anti-Semitism'. He told The Telegraph after the apology was issued: 'I'm glad they have apologised.' Camera also said there were six other complaints about BBC Arabic content that have not been resolved as of June 9. A Camera spokesman said: 'Having demonstrated such ignorance in covering Jewish affairs, it seems that part of the problem lies not only with the Arabic service's inability to respond to complaints on time, but also in the lack of training its staff undergo upon hiring.' Last month, the BBC announced it would appoint an independent figure to investigate its Arabic channel over repeated allegations of anti-Semitism exposed by The Telegraph. The Telegraph has previously revealed a number of BBC Arabic's contributors have posted anti-Jewish sentiments and expressed their apparent support for Hamas, both before and after the Oct 7 attacks. Speaking to Times Radio in May, Dr Samir Shah, the chairman of the BBC, said: 'The Arabic service, we are looking at it, we've been examining it. I think this whole business of how we've covered Israel-Gaza is a proper thing to examine thoroughly, which is why we're going to identify... we're going to get hold of an independent figure to look at our coverage.' A BBC spokesman said: 'The BBC takes all complaints seriously and we have a robust process in place. 'We are committed to investigating complaints and responding to complainants swiftly. We apologise for the delay in these particular cases. 'When mistakes are made, we acknowledge them and make the appropriate corrections.' Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism.
