Surprising reason Texans' Jimmie Ward is jailed for the second time this summer revealed by his attorney
Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward is behind bars for the second time this summer after previously being accused of assaulting and strangling his fiancée in June. This time Ward was apprehended by Montgomery County (Texas) police for consuming alcohol in violation of the terms of his June release, his attorney, Steve Jackson, told Daily Mail by phone late Thursday. Ward was picked up on an outstanding warrant earlier in the day, according to a Montgomery County government website that neglected to expand on the specific allegations. Jackson has since revealed to Daily Mail that this 'wasn't a new arrest,' but the consequence of Ward testing positive for alcohol, which he's prohibited from consuming as a condition of his June release – a standard measure in Montgomery County, according to Jackson. 'Since he tested positive for alcohol there is an overnight sanction in jail,' Jackson told Daily Mail. Daily Mail also sought comments late Thursday night from Texans spokespeople and Ward's agents. The 34-year-old former first-round pick was arrested on a third-degree felony assault charge described as 'family related' back in June. Deputies later revealed Ward was accused by his fiancée of assault and strangulation. An emergency protection order was also filed on behalf of Ward's fiancée, according to multiple reports. As Jackson told Daily Mail on Thursday, he expects to present a grand jury packet on August 31 in hopes of getting the case dismissed. Jackson previously told People that Ward would soon be 'vindicated' in the assault case. 'We have been aware of the complaining witness for some time and her actions towards Jimmie Ward as well as another high profile sports figure,' he said. 'It is sad that professional athletes and public figures have to endure things like this, but has seemingly become commonplace. But we will continue to thoroughly investigate this woman and her history, and believe that Jimmie will be vindicated. 'We just ask that the public reserve judgment so that we can show everyone that the Jimmie Ward that they all have come to know is the same person and did not do this.' Now entering his 12th NFL season, Ward was being counted on to provide an important backup role on Houston's defense, especially after free-agent acquisition C.J. Gardner-Johnson went down with a knee injury this week.

Man (29) facing trial for strangulation assault on woman in Dublin home
A Dublin man is to stand trial accused of strangling a woman during a non-fatal assault at his home. Lee Quinn, 29, of Keeper Road, Dublin 12, was initially charged with criminal damage to a door, bed and window and a minor category assault of a named woman at his home address on June 3rd last. Advertisement He was remanded in custody the following day. He appeared before Judge Patricia Cronin at Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday for developments in his case, which was upgraded with a more serious charge. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) authorised investigating officer, Garda Adam Deegan, to bring an additional charge under section 3A of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act for strangulation of the woman, who did not have to attend the proceedings yesterday. The Sundrive Road-based garda told Judge Cronin that the DPP has directed 'trial on indictment' in the Circuit Court, and that the accused could be sent forward for sentencing on a signed plea should that arise. Advertisement Garda Deegan said Mr Quinn was cautioned and 'made no reply' when the extra alleged offence was put to him yesterday, shortly before his court hearing. Defence solicitor Katie Dowling said her client, who did not address the court, was not applying for bail. She also granted an order for disclosure of evidence for Mr Quinn to consider, if he wished to enter a guilty plea. Judge Cronin remanded him in custody to appear again in one week, the longest period available, due to the new charge. She said that was to let the accused consider his position, but noted that he may not have had an opportunity to do so by that stage. Legal aid was granted to Mr Quinn, who will appear again via video link at his next hearing.

'I am going to kill you': Mass. man faces charges in connection with woman strangled in hallway
A Duxbury man faces charges after police stopped him from strangling a woman to death in an apartment complex, Duxbury police said Friday. Brandon Wangnoon, 31, faces one count each of assault to murder, strangulation and suffocation, and breaking and entering a building at nighttime. At around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers were notified about a report of a man strangling a woman at an apartment hallway in the area of Mile Brook Road, Duxbury police said in a statement. When officers arrived, they at first did not see anyone in the hallway, police said. They spoke with a resident who confirmed Wangnoon was in the hallway with the woman and led officers to the woman's apartment. The woman told officers that Wangnoon was 'removed from his girlfriend's apartment,' and he entered a different apartment, police said. People living in that apartment saw Wangnoon and told him to leave, but he did not. Wangnoon became argumentative and grabbed one of the women in the apartment by the neck, took her out in the hallway and told her, 'I am going to kill you,' according to police. Other people intervened and separated the two, the statement read. Officers then searched the area, found Wangnoon and arrested him.
