Sault teen charged with assault with a weapon
An 18-year-old man faces charges after an alleged assault involving a weapon – possibly a machete – in a residential building last week. Sault Ste. Marie police said officers responded to a report of an assault at a multi-unit residence in the 400 block of Pim Street around 8:00 p.m. on May 28. 'An investigation revealed the accused invited a victim into their unit and attempted to strike them with a weapon, believed to be a machete,' police said in a news release. The accused was charged with assault with a weapon and failing to comply with a release order. Police said the teen was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on July 28.

Hit-and-run driver wanted after teen struck in south Edmonton

(Photo: Google Street View) Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver they say struck a teen girl in south Edmonton on Tuesday morning. The girl was walking west in a marked crosswalk on 17 Street at 28 Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. when police said she was hit by a small black vehicle heading north on 17 Street. The driver stopped briefly, police said, but did not stay at the scene. The girl made her way to school and was taken from there to hospital as a precaution for non-life-threatening injuries. Police said the driver hit her at a busy intersection at a busy time of day and they are asking witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information or footage of the crash is asked to call police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a cell phone.
