Brit hostage who survived Hamas terror tunnels slams Keir's ‘moral failure' after PM vowed to recognise Palestine
RELEASED British hostage Emily Damari today slammed "shameful" Sir Keir Starmer for "rewarding terror" and prolonging the Gaza war. Ms Damari, who survived 471 days in captivity, blasted the PM's pledge to recognise Palestine while kidnapped Israeli civilians continue rotting in Hamas terror tunnels. 2 The dual British-Israeli national, 29, accused Sir Keir of a "moral failure" and compared the move to rewarding Nazis in WWII. Ms Damari said: 'As a Dual British-Israeli citizen who survived 471 days in Hamas captivity, I am deeply saddened by Prime Minister Starmer's decision to recognise Palestinian statehood. "This move does not confirm the UK will advance peace - it risks rewarding terror. It sends a dangerous message: that violence earns legitimacy." She added: "By legitimising a state entity while Hamas still controls Gaza and continues its campaign of terror, the Prime Minister is not promoting a solution; he is prolonging the conflict. "Recognition under these conditions emboldens extremists and undermines any hope for genuine peace.' British hostage families also joined the chorus of condemnation against the PM, who was accused by the Tories of making a "vacuous" decision aimed at appeasing Muslim voters and back bench MPs. As of late July 2025, around 50 Israeli hostages remain in Gaza, with approximately 20 believed to be alive and the remains of up to 30 being held. Adam Wagner KC, who represents Brits with strong ties to kidnapped Israeli's, said: "For almost two years, the British hostage families have encouraged the U.K. to use any leverage it has to help secure the release of their loved ones. "They have sat in 10 Downing Street with successive Prime Ministers and Foreign Secretaries who have looked them in the eyes and promised the U.K. will do everything in its power to secure the immediate and unconditional release of their loved ones, whose detention is unambiguously a war crime. "We are concerned that the UK's proposal risks delaying the release of the hostages." Conditions among the kidnapped are dire: they are confined in underground tunnels with no natural light or clean air, suffering from severe malnutrition, dehydration, untreated injuries, and psychological trauma. Some are understood to have been chained, beaten, or subjected to starvation and torture . International organisations including the Red Cross and the Hostages and Missing Families Forum have warned that without urgent access and humanitarian relief, the remaining living hostages face a growing risk of death from medical neglect and deteriorating mental health. This morning shadow foreign secretary Dame Priti Patel warned it is "not the right time" to recognise a Palestinian state and urged ministers to set out a plan to "ensure that Hamas is not rewarded". She told Sky News: "What we would rather see is a proper, meaningful plan for the recognition of Palestine, in the right way, where the future governance of Palestine is absolutely mapped out. "This Government has not played a role in doing that, and I think that's where we should be." The PM said the UK would recognise Palestine in September unless Israel agrees to end the "appalling" crisis in Gaza. He issued the blunt ultimatum to Benjamin Netanyahu after an emergency Cabinet meeting and under mounting pressure from Labour ministers and MPs. But Donald Trump and political rivals slap down the move - warning it risks rewarding Hamas for its terror attacks. The US President claimed the PM did not even raise the controversial move when they met on Monday. Ms Damari was kidnapped by Hamas during an attack on Kibbutz Kfar Aza in southern Israel on October 7. She was taken from the safe room of her home, sustaining injuries, and held captive for over 15 months. During her time as a hostage, she was moved between cages, tunnels, and UN facilities, receiving minimal medical care for her wounds. The Tottenham Hotspur fan was eventually released as part of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, which included a prisoner exchange.

I suffered incredibly vivid nightmares and even lashed out violently at my wife while asleep – I had no idea it was an early warning sign for this serious condition
Martin Pickard awoke in a state of terror. He had been dreaming that he was in the back of a London taxi, interviewing DJ Tony Blackburn. The back seat of the cab was littered with McDonald's cartons which, to his horror, began to move. 'The rubbish was covered in spiders,' Martin recalls. 'They were getting bigger and bigger, and when one the size of a wastepaper basket launched itself at my face, I threw open the cab door and jumped out – headfirst into the bedside cabinet.'

Counter terror police probe passenger 'shouting Allah Akbar after making bomb threat' on packed plane - as man, 41, is charged
A 41-year-old man is being probed by counter terror police after he was charged following an incident on a packed easyJet flight yesterday morning. Videos posted on social media yesterday showed a man shouting 'Allah Akbar' on the flight from London Luton Airport to Glasgow as he appeared to make a bomb threat. He shouted: 'Stop the plane. Find the bomb on the plane. Death to America. Death to Trump.' He was then heard shouting 'Allahu Akbar' three times. A phrase which means 'God is the greatest' in Arabic. A hero passenger from row 21 then tackled the man to the ground and held him on the floor. Another man sat on top of the man to restrain him and said: 'Sit down don't move.' In another clip, people could be heard nervously asking 'who is he with?', 'does he have his phone?'. The cabin crew could be heard announcing that the plane would be 'landing very shortly'. Passengers asked the man if he had anything in his bag, asking 'do you have a bomb?'. They then asked the man if he had been drinking or taking drugs. He was quizzed by two men. One asked: 'Why did you say you wanted to bomb this plane?' The passengers then managed to locate the man's bag and asked him if he had anything in his pockets. Another panicked woman said: 'Check everywhere, not just his pockets, check his body.' They took his wallet and managed to find his ID, as woman is then heard crying as she takes an emotional phone call with a loved one. Upon landing in Glasgow, police were caught on video arresting the man, while he remained lying down in the aisle of the plane. The officer told the man: 'You're calm now, are you going to be calm when I stand you up.' The man replied: 'I'm calm now.' As he is escorted off the plane, the man asks for his 'phone and wallet', which received a cold response from passengers who tell him to 'f*** off'. Some manage to find some humour and laugh at the man's request, with one heard saying 'it is like a comedy sketch'. Yesterday, a spokesperson for easyJet said: 'Flight EZY609 from Luton to Glasgow this morning was met by police on arrival in Glasgow, where they boarded the aircraft and removed a passenger due to their behaviour onboard. 'easyJet's crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers are not compromised at any time. 'The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJet's highest priority.' On Sunday, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'We received a report of a man causing a disturbance on a flight arriving in Glasgow around 8.20am on Sunday, 27 July, 2025. 'Officers boarded the plane on its arrival and a 41-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody. Enquiries are continuing. 'At this time we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved. 'We are aware of videos circulating online and these are being assessed by counter terrorism officers.'

Moment hero Marine subdues knifeman after 11 shoppers stabbed in 'terror' rampage at Walmart
A heroic shopper stepped in to save the lives of terrified locals at a Walmart after a deranged knifeman stabbed 11 people in a 'terror' rampage. The man, identified as ex-Marine Derrick Perry, pulled out a concealed firearm and held knifeman Bradford James Gille at gunpoint until officers arrived at the scene. The 42-year-old Gille had already stabbed 11 people inside the Michigan Walmart and is facing charges of terrorism and assault with intent to murder, according to Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Noelle Moeggenberg. But bystanders credited Perry for potentially saving the lives of many more shoppers. His intervention stopped Gille in his tracks and gave frightened onlookers a chance to flee. It is understood he had a permit to carry a concealed weapon. 'This is what the Second Amendment is all about,' one supporter said, praising Perry for his heroic actions. 'You are a true hero and this town is blessed for people like you,' another wrote. Perry's daughter described her father's instinct to help as a 'proud daughter moment', while his daughter-in-law added that he is a 'true hero.' 'So proud of him for protecting so many,' she added. Others are calling for him to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Video circulating on social media showed the terrifying moment Gille confronted the knife-wielding madman in the parking lot of the Walmart. Perry, along with several other men, cornered Gille in the car park and forced him to drop his weapon. The suspect looked stunned as the tables quickly turned on him. Another man was armed with a shopping cart as he helped to corner Gille. In the chaos, one of the brave men lost his shoes as he shouted: 'Throw the knife away! Throw it away! Another shouted: 'Get on the ground!' 'Drop the knife! Drop it!' another bellowed. Gille backed away slowly until one of the men tackled and subdued him. Police later said he kept repeating: 'I don't care. I don't care.' Moeggenberg, the county prosecutor, told reporters that the terrorism charge will be brought due to the fact that investigators believe Gille intended to 'affect the entire community, to put fear in the entire community, and to change how maybe we operate on a daily basis.' The horrific attack unfolded at the Walmart in Traverse City on Saturday afternoon. Gille allegedly entered the store during a calm shopping afternoon and randomly stabbed the victims with a folding pocket knife, authorities say. Moeggenberg called the attack 'a very random act of violence.' Gille, who police said is a Michigan resident, remains in custody at the Grand Traverse County Jail and is expected to be arraigned Monday or Tuesday. Sheriff Mike Shea praised the quick response from law enforcement officers who arrived within three minutes after receiving the call about the stabbing but also a group of bystanders who intervened and detained Gille in the parking lot. Calls began coming in to authorities at 4:43pm on Saturday and a sheriff's deputy arrived at 4:46pm. 'I cannot commend everyone that was involved enough. When you stop and look from the time of call to the time of actual custody, the individual was detained within one minute,' Shea said at Sunday's press conference. 'That is remarkable. When you look at it in that mitigated Lord knows how many additional victims.' Shea said the 11 victims were both men and women and they ranged in age from 21 to 84. One victim was a Walmart employee. Munson Medical Center Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tom Schermerhorn said at a press conference Sunday that one patient was treated and released; two were in serious condition; and the rest are in fair condition. Walmart said in a statement Saturday that it would continue to work closely with law enforcement in the investigation. On Sunday, a spokesman said he didn't have any details about the store reopening and had no updates beyond the statement released late Saturday. 'Violence like this is unacceptable. Our thoughts are with those who were injured and we're thankful for the swift action of first responders,' the statement read. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said in a social media post that bureau officials were responding to 'provide any necessary support'. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said: 'Our thoughts are with the victims and the community reeling from this brutal act of violence.' Traverse City is a popular vacation spot on the coast of Lake Michigan. It is known for its cherry festival, wineries and lighthouses and is about 25 miles east of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
