Young Wandana Heights fashion enthusiast makes big sacrifice for dream wardrobe
A Wandana Heights man with a passion for suit jackets has gone to extraordinary lengths to find a home that's a perfect fit for his collection. Riley Redford is sacrificing one of the four bedrooms in his new Armstrong Creek townhouse to create an extravagant walk-in wardrobe. With the 26-year-old's clothing currently stuffed into multiple wardrobes, the desire to consolidate was a key attraction of purchasing an off-the-plan townhouse at Jinding's Harriott estate. 'I looked at a few townhouses and one of the things was none of them had big enough wardrobes,' Mr Redford said. 'I really wanted a townhouse for the townhouse style of living — I like the idea of reverse living — but I can't be without a huge wardrobe.' It was a match made in fashion heaven when the suit aficionado, who works as chief financial office for a technology company, discovered he could customise a Harriott townhouse to create his dream walk-in wardrobe with a steaming cabinet and bench seat under the window. 'I want a similar style to what you see on The Block, have they have got glass panes on some sections with your display items and pull out racks where you hang your pants and an island bench in the middle,' he said. Harriott developer Jinding has just broken ground on the first 45 townhouses in a dedicated precinct at the Armstrong Creek estate following a spike in sales since the Reserve Bank's first interest rate cut in February. It eventually plans to roll out 164 two, three and four-bedroom townhouses. Buyers have been a mix of first-home buyers and downsizers attracted to the $524,900 starting price and low-maintenance lifestyle. Jinding managing director of development Andrew Ashwood said the start of construction was an exciting milestone for future residents. 'In Victoria, we're all aware of the ongoing pressure on housing supply and the effect it is having on affordability,' Dr Ashwood said. 'Townhomes offer an accessible entry point for many buyers, particularly the first-home buyer market who have struggled to get onto the property ladder.' Jinding has appointed local contractor Wellam for new civil construction works at Harriott. This includes the installation of traffic lights at the corner of Barwon Heads Rd and Harkness Blvd and a major road realignment to allow for turning lanes to improve traffic flow. The works are expected to be completed in mid to late 2025, with residents required to use Boundary Rd to exit the estate during certain periods.

Buyer pays $97,000 over asking for Queensway townhouse
28 Market Garden Mews, Toronto Asking price: $998,000 (March, 2025) Selling price: $1,095,000 (April, 2025) Previous selling price: $478,000 (March, 2010); $425,000 (May, 2008); $364,017 (October, 2006) Taxes: $4,664 (2024) Days on the market: Seven Listing agents: Ken and Jaime Ramsay, Harvey Kalles Real Estate Ltd. An asking price under $1-million for this three-bedroom townhouse caught the eye of about 20 buyers this April. It was the first home to come up for sale in several months in a small enclave south of The Queensway. Five bids were made, with one narrowly beating out competitors with an offer that added $97,000 to the asking price. 'This complex is one of the only freehold townhouse complexes in the area that doesn't have monthly fees, which was a big draw,' agent Ken Ramsay said. 'And it's at that $1-million threshold, which for a freehold townhouse, is the most affordable complex in Etobicoke that we know of,' co-listing agent Jaime Ramsay said. The nearly 20-year-old property was also in excellent condition, with a new custom kitchen and an updated bathroom. 'The sellers took extremely good care of the house, and did lots of upgrades while they owned it,' Mr. Ramsay said. 'We went in to do some painting and full staging to elevate it even more.' This three-storey townhouse has a street-level entrance and a front deck, as well as a rear deck above a garage that can be accessed through the finished basement. On the main floor, there are open living and dining areas with nine-foot ceilings, and a custom kitchen refashioned with an island, quartz and porcelain tile finishes, stainless-steel appliances and a pantry. The bedrooms are on the floors above, with the largest having a walk-in closet and a private bathroom. 'This complex really attracts people trying to move out of downtown condos and be in a convenient location,' said Ms. Ramsay.

Luxury home with views thrills on Geelong's other waterfront
New South Wales buyers have pounced on a luxury, four-bedroom two storey townhouse on Geelong's tightly-held North Shore. Maxwell Collins, Geelong agent Duncan Skene said the view was the key attractions for the buyers at 33B The Esplanade, North Shore, who were relocating to be closer to family. But he said the value of the substantial residence was incredible for a home with such a view. Mr Skene said he couldn't reveal the sale price, but revealed it was within the $1.425m to $1.525m range. Records show it's the fourth most-expensive home to sell in the tightly-held northern suburb. The North Shore residence overlooks Corio Bay with an incredible view across the water to Geelong's burgeoning waterfront. The only catch for some is the suburb is surrounded with industry. But Mr Skene said even that is no longer such an impediment for buyers, with other potential purchasers looking for a higher-end home close to their place of work. 'Other people were just looking to relocate and just wanted something with a bit of a view, but maybe not the higher price tag of Eastern Beach,' Mr Skene said. The home offers premium finishes such as square-set ceilings, a designer kitchen with stone waterfall benchtops and Smeg appliances, double glazed windows and stacking glass doors that open the main living area to a full width balcony overlooking the water. The expansive upstairs living area is ideal for entertaining or just relaxing while enjoying the stunning outlook towards the Geelong CBD. The home's lavish main bedroom suite offers a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite with a dual shower, complemented by a stylish powder room. Three more bedrooms on the ground floor offer built-in wardrobes and share a sleek bathroom and a generous family room that opens onto a rear deck and sun-drenched, north-facing back yard. The home has full airconditioning, a security system, landscaped gardens, and a remote-controlled double garage with internal access. The double-storey townhouses were developed after the original home last sold in 2017 for $1.175m, having been in the same family for more than 40 years. The suburb's most expensive home nearby sold for $3.4m in 2022 and has been a target for families with students studying at nearby Geelong Grammar School. Homes are substantially cheaper than similar properties along Geelong's Eastern Beach, where the most recent sale, a two-storey heritage terrace house at 34 Eastern Beach sold for $3.5m in 2024.
