Police say in a news release that a search warrant was executed as part of an ongoing drug investigation in the early morning hours of May 29. A search of the home allegedly found: 92 grams of methamphetamine 82 oxycodone tablets 1.5 grams of cocaine $1,200 in Canadian cash $1,800 in prepaid credit cards A currency counter, digital scales, packaging materials, safes, and several knives A 55-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man were arrested after the search. The man was later released without charges. The woman was charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking in relation to the methamphetamine and oxycodone. She was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

'Narcotics of all kinds are pouring across our borders,' said a White House statement in March, announcing stiff tariffs on Mexico and Canada.

Police have arrested a woman wanted for a number of charges including trafficking, assault and forcible confinement. On Friday, officers with the Waterloo Regional Police Service were on bike patrol in Kitchener's Victoria Park when they spotted and arrested the woman. She was wanted for assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and forcible confinement in connection to an incident that happened in Kitchener on March 20. Police said the woman had also driven way from police in a stolen vehicle during another incident on April 30. Due to that incident, she was wanted for possession for the purpose of trafficking, taking a vehicle without consent, flight from an officer, operation of a conveyance while prohibited, dangerous operation, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. During her arrest, officers said they seized suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and prescription drugs. Police said the approximate street value of the substances comes in at $12,300. The 40-year-old woman was also charged with four counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of break-in instruments.

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : A woman was charged in the Johor Bahru sessions court today with trafficking and exploiting a boy and a teenage girl in December last year. Haliza Palok, 55, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to her before judge Thalha Bachok @ Embok Mok, Harian Metro reported. Haliza is accused under Section 5(1)(c) of the Children and Young Persons (Employment) Act 1966 of trafficking a boy, aged between 10 and 12 years old, and a teenage girl between 13 and 15 years old, by exploiting them for illegal activities. Haliza was also charged under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 with trafficking in children, having allegedly committed the offence at Jalan Kargo 2, Senai Airport City, Senai, Johor, at 6.54pm on Dec 19, 2024. For the first charge, she faces up to a year's imprisonment, a RM5,000 fine or both, if convicted. On the second charge, she faces up to 30 years in jail and whipping, if found guilty. The prosecution was led by immigration department deputy public prosecutor Tan Yen Thung, while lawyer Amarpreet Singh represented the accused. The court allowed bail of RM17,000 for both charges with two sureties, and ordered Haliza to report to the Johor immigration department once a month, surrender her passport to the court and refrain from tampering with the prosecution witnesses. It set Aug 27 for further mention of the case and discovery of documents.

The Brief DUNCANVILLE, Texas - The second defendant convicted of large-scale methamphetamine trafficking in Duncanville, Texas, was sentenced yesterday to 20 years in federal prison. The news was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Chad E. Meacham. What we know Moises Elias Saavedra Posadas, 45, a Mexican national illegally living in the United States, pled guilty to methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute in February 2025. He was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison on Wednesday, May 28, by United States District Judge David C. Godbey. According to court documents, Saavedra Posadas helped codefendant Gerardo Barraza Ortiz deliver more than 4 grams of 100% pure methamphetamine on two separate occasions. Officers with the Duncanville Police Department executed a search warrant at an auto body shop located on South Cockrell Hill Road in Dallas, Texas, where several identifying documents belonging to Saavedra Posadas were located. The majority of the methamphetamine was located in 1,022 small packages hidden in buckets and pallets. A further search of the auto body shop revealed a freezer, burners, coolers, storage bins, and barrels that were being used to store, cook, and convert liquid methamphetamine into a crystalized form. Officers also located three firearms and several pounds of marijuana during the search. According to the Duncanville Police Department, the 107.05 pounds of crystal methamphetamine, if sold in ounce quantities, has a street value of approximately $3,128,400.00 in the Dallas, Texas area. Dig deeper Testimony from co-defendant Barraza Ortiz's sentencing hearing revealed that on June 2, 2022, officers located approximately 107.05 pounds of crystalized methamphetamine during a search of the building. Barraza Ortiz was sentenced to a term of 262 months' imprisonment in March 2025 by U.S. District Judge Godbey.
