Investigation concludes into Fredericton crash that killed two teens, young adult
Fredericton police have concluded an investigation into a triple fatality on Douglas Avenue last May.
The incident occurred in the early hours of May 5, 2024, when a speeding car struck a tree and landed on another vehicle.
Two males aged 22 and 17 and a female, aged 14, died at the scene. The two other passengers, a 15-year-old male and 14-year-old female, were brought to hospital with critical and minor injuries.
The four occupants of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle when it passed on a different street but lost them as they were turning around to follow them. The crash happened several minutes later.
'Following a comprehensive investigation that included laboratory analysis and DNA testing, authorities have conclusively determined the identity of the individual who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident,' Fredericton police said in a Facebook post.
The late driver cannot be identified due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and as a result of the findings no charges will be laid.
