This Nissan Z Makes 820 Horsepower With Bolt-Ons

There are almost too many choices when it comes to getting more power out of a car. You can spend tens of thousands of dollars tearing open the engine to create something utterly new, or try to keep things simple with bolt-on parts. That's what AMS Performance did, and the aftermarket specialist was able to develop an 820-wheel-horsepower Nissan Z that achieved a 9.23-second quarter-mile time at 149 miles per hour. The car's first run returned an official 9.471-second quarter-mile time at 148.34 miles per hour, according to the slip. AMS said in a Facebook post that the Z has an unopened engine and a stock transmission. There's no nitrous, either. The power comes from 'a catalog of parts we've developed for the platform over the last handful of years and a whole lot of hard work from our team here at AMS Performance.' The upgrades include new turbochargers and a software tune. The stock Z engine, a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6, makes 400 horsepower in its base form and 420 hp in the Nismo, so it's impressive that the stock block and internals can handle making so much more power. The coupe is available with a six-speed manual, but AMS's car has the nine-speed automatic. Z sales got off to a slow start but have picked up since Nissan launched the model. The Z demolished the Supra in sales through the first three months of the year and by a wide margin. The Z isn't the cheapest sports car you can buy today, but the prospect of 800-plus hp with just bolt-on parts should be enticing to power-hungry enthusiasts. ABT has given the Audi S5 Avant a nice little power bump and made it faster

Modified Just don't ask us about the name of the thing Skip 8 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Venerable Audi tunificator ABT has given the new S5 Avant an upgrade package. We would say it's pushed it closer to a potential RS5 Avant, but since our heads are still spinning from Ingolstadt's naming convention changes, we have no idea what anything means anymore. So let's just call it 'quick'. And 'powerful'. ABT has taken the 3.0-litre V6 and opened it up a bit, bumping the outputs from 362bhp/369lb ft to 434bhp/443lb ft. The 155mph top speed remains unchanged, but the extra 72bhp should help cut the original 4.5s 0-62mph sprint down a bit. Advertisement - Page continues below Visually, it looks like yer typical Black Edition-grade car. There's 25mm lowering springs to drop it right down, and a full bodykit that includes a more aggressive front lip, inlet cover and rear wing. Bigger 102mm stainless steel quad exhausts sit at the back, while 20in five-spoke 'Prime' alloys hide inside those arches. Why they've been named after KSI's energy drink, we don't know. Still, this thing looks good. Hot estates normally do. You might like By comparison the interior's changes are much subtler: integrated entrance lights into the door sills, ABT-branded floor mats, a new start-stop switch and… that's about it. Seems like some aftermarket tuners do still remember how to keep things low-key. You'll be forking out €14,900 (about £12.5k) for the package, which seems decent for the power hike and leaner suit you're getting in return. Before all that though you'll need to first get an S5 Avant, which used to be an S4 Avant but will remain an S5 Avant (we think), and the going rate for one of those nowadays is £72,450… at least. 2026 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster First Drive Review: So Much Better Than Before

Changes for '26 The Vantage's twin-turbocharged V8 is sourced from Mercedes-AMG but gets an Aston Martin-specific tuning, as well as revised heads, new camshaft profiles, larger turbochargers and a few other tweaks. Output is up to 656 horsepower, 153 more hp than the last generation's V8. Torque output is up to 590 lb-ft. At Edmunds' test track, the Vantage coupe hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and sprinted through the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds at an absolutely blistering 130.2 mph. The Roadster should perform similarly, and the V8's exhaust note only sounds sweeter with the top down. Power is fed solely to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The transmission is mounted at the rear axle, helping the Vantage's weight balance. Other mechanical changes for the updated Vantage include a shorter final-drive ratio for improved throttle response, a repositioned front cross member, and a stiffer but lighter front cross brace above the engine. The suspension geometry has been changed, too, and updated with adaptive dampers. Inside, the cabin has been completely revised. The interior looks and feels much more premium than before, and Aston Martin has expanded its options list for things like upholstery, trim and paint colors. The interior is packaged better, too, with a better layout for everything from the cupholders to the climate controls. The infotainment system is all-new and a big improvement from the ancient Mercedes-sourced system found in the pre-refresh Vantage.
