Nissan's made a brilliant 8-bit videogame set in Tokyo you can play right now for FREE

Nissan's made a brilliant 8-bit videogame set in Tokyo you can play right now for FREE Nismo's bringing the Nineties back in the shape of this OutRun style retro racer Skip 3 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Turn on Javascript to see all the available pictures. 1 / 3 Nissan has revealed a new videogame called 'Nismo Electric Racer Tokyo'. It is a videogame where you race an electric racecar in Tokyo and on first impressions it is… brilliant. Because it is brilliantly retro, transferring OutRun's glorious 8-bit aesthetic to one of the greatest cities in the world. The game's been built to mark the upcoming Tokyo round of the all-electric racing series that Nissan's been campaigning in for years. Hence why you're not piloting an old R33 or R34 or 300ZX or Pulsar GTI or 200SX or literally any cool Nissan from the 90s or indeed any cool Nissan from history. No. You're piloting a Nissan Formula E car, as either of the team's current drivers (Oli Rowland and Norman Nato). Still, despite the fact you're not driving a cool old Nissan but a silent racing one, illustrator Kentaro Yoshida has turned out a bit of a pixelly masterclass here, rendering a Tokyo cityscape with the obligatory cherry blossom trees and Mount Fuji looming in the background. Just need a Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack and, yup, we're kids again. Best thing is, it's free! You can play it right now! And your Formula E racer won't run out of battery either! Head this way to have a play and post your experiences below. Advertisement - Page continues below Top Gear Newsletter Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter. This just in: the second new trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has landed

This just in: the second new trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI has landed More details on the delayed, hugely anticipated videogame Skip 20 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Turn on Javascript to see all the available pictures. 1 / 20 Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed. We are not sure if this new trailer – only the second since the game was announced back in 2023 – is a consolation, but it's all we have and this is GTA, so yeah, we'll take it. Rockstar's given us a little bit more info and scenery to chew on this time out, explaining how 'Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them'. Those are our protagonists – a sort of Bonnie and Clyde setup. Advertisement - Page continues below And now we know a little bit more about how they were set up. 'When an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida – forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.' The die-hard, frame-by-frame enthusiasts might dig out some more details, but once the scene has been set with a day in the life of Jason, all manner of narratives and classic GTA beats are teased: picking up Lucia, heists, shootouts, explosions, helicopters, jet skis, bikes, trucks and of course, cars. One of which is an extremely convincing Ford Ranger pick-up that shows off GTA 6's mighty impressive graphics engine and how well it can do the smaller details, as well as gorgeous Floridian cityscapes and neon-drenched nightclub scenes. And in amongst clips of the two dancing, sinking beers and committing felonies are vignettes of Vice City life, and we can now officially confirm it's a city that parties hard. The stated platforms in this latest trailer are PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, so it appears there won't be a PC version at launch. That follows Rockstar's historical pattern to the GTA series, wherein the PC release follows some months (or in the worst cases, years) afterwards. So, clear your afternoon, turn up The Pointer Sisters and take the freeway straight into downtown VC right here. Top Gear Newsletter Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter.
