Report Catamo targeted by Como with opening 20m offer
Serie A big spenders Como are reportedly planning a €20m proposal for Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo, who is also linked with Fenerbahce. The 24-year-old is a Mozambique international winger who plays primarily on the right side, but can also work on the left. According to transfer pundit Ekrem Konur, Como are getting ready to make an opening offer that should be worth in the region of €20m. Catamo scored seven goals and provided five assists for his teammates in 48 competitive appearances for Sporting CP last season. He first moved to Portugal with the Sporting CP academy in 2019, although there were loan experiences at Amora FC, Vitoria Guimaraes and Maritimo. Como have been the biggest spenders in Serie A so far this summer, bringing in the likes of Jacobo Ramon, Nicolas Kuhn, Jesus Rodriguez, Martin Baturina and Jayden Addai.

Barcelona academy graduate's potential move to Italy hits a roadblock
Barcelona and Como took to the field last night in the Joan Gamper trophy clash and the game ended in a 5-0 win for Hansi Flick's side in what was a landslide result. Notably, however, the connection between the two clubs this summer spans far beyond the mere 90 minutes of football they engaged in last night. Currently building an exciting young team under the tutelage of former Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas, Como have been alert to the situation of all exit-linked Barcelona players. Inaki Pena has thus emerged as a player they retain an interest in. Falling apart While the Serie A side were touted to be a potential destination for Barcelona outcast Inaki Pena, SPORT relays in a recent report that the youngster is now far from the move that was highly speculated. Pena's move to Como likely to fall through. (Photo by) There have already been official contacts between the two clubs, but they stand significantly apart in terms of their terms, and an agreement is unlikely. The player, in fact, has begun studying the other options on his table at this point, and so have Como, who are determined to find a starting goalkeeper at the earliest. In fact, they are now being linked with ex-Barcelona and current PSG star Arnau Tenas. Given the urgency that the Italian side are in and the relatively massive demands from Barcelona, there is little scope for a change in the situation in Pena's case. Moreover, Barcelona do not wish to let him go until Joan Garcia is officially registered. Should the Como option fall apart, Pena will turn to the interest he has received from the likes of Celta Vigo and Sevilla. In such a case, however, it is likely he renews with Barcelona and leaves on loan with an option to buy.

Barcelona receive official transfer request from Serie A
La Liga giants Barcelona were on Sunday the recipients of a transfer request by way of Serie A outfit Como. That's according to Football Italia, who have today provided an insight into the situation. Barcelona and Como of course locked horns yesterday evening, in the annual edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy match. When all was said and done, it was the former who emerged on the right side of the result, dominating en route to a 5-0 triumph. Their side's heavy defeat, though, did not discourage the Como brass from sitting down with their Barca counterparts to launch a transfer offensive. This comes amid confirmation that Cesc Fàbregas' side are now actively pushing for the signature of Blaugrana goalkeeper Iñaki Peña. Shot-stopper Peña is for his part widely expected to be on the move before the summer is out, having continued to tumble down the pecking order between the posts in Hansi Flick's squad following the recent arrival of Joan García. And as per the aforementioned : 'Como lodged a formal request for Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena after the friendly match between the two sides in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday evening.' Spanish press issue telling Marcus Rashford verdict after 'miss of the season' – 'Left me cold'
Spanish media outlets have been tearing into Marcus Rashford after the England international squandered a golden opportunity for Barcelona in a pre-season game at the weekend Marcus Rashford has endured a torrid start to life at Barcelona after producing what some are calling "the miss of the season". The Manchester United loanee netted his first goal for the club during their commanding 5-0 pre-season win against Daegu last week - but any positive momentum was quickly erased in Sunday's equally commanding 5-0 victory over Como, where he shockingly failed to score from just eight yards out with an open goal gaping. Following a clever through ball from Lamine Yamal, Rashford neatly jinked past the goalkeeper and a defender to leave himself with an easy finish. But instead of scoring, his left-footed shot agonizingly missed the target, rolling inches wide of the post. He was substituted a few minutes later. With Robert Lewandowski sidelined due to injury, Rashford has a golden chance to convince manager Hansi Flick that he is more than just a squad player. However, his glaring miss versus Como sparked major doubts about his quality, confidence, and suitability for the No. 9 position. Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo declared that "it is clear he [Rashford] is not a natural No. 9." Meanwhile, AS went further, criticising his "strange performance" filled with "notable errors in execution, especially in his attempt to provide continuity in the play with his back to goal." On the Spanish radio show El Larguero, commentator Jordi Marti said Rashford "left me cold," expressing frustration: "The expectations I had of him in that No. 9 position have left me cold. But I've seen him do better on the wing; when he takes on the ball, he does so with power and accurate assists." "But today was an important day for him. Lewandowski will be out for the next few weeks, and these are the games he needs to take advantage of." After falling out with United manager Ruben Amorim, Rashford - who spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa - made it clear he wanted to leave the club this summer, with Barcelona his top choice. The Catalan side initially targeted Nico Williams and Luiz Diaz, but after those deals collapsed, they shifted their focus to Rashford. A loan agreement was quickly sealed, including a £30million option for Barcelona to sign the 27-year-old permanently next summer. Rashford's versatility played a significant role in the transfer, with Flick valuing his capacity to perform both as a striker and winger. However, he may have to wait before officially debuting, as Barcelona have yet to register him. The registration holdups stem from La Liga's Financial Fair Play rules, which consistently challenge the Catalan club. To add new players and extend contracts, Barcelona need to free up enough salary space. A breakthrough came when the issue involving Marc-Andre ter Stegen was resolved. His back injury and initial refusal to certify a long-term absence complicated the registration of new goalkeeper Joan Garcia. Ter Stegen's recent consent to sign a medical document has now paved the way for Garcia's registration, but Rashford's paperwork is still pending. Barcelona have until the end of August to finalise player registrations for the upcoming campaign. This means Rashford could still be included in the squad after the La Liga opener against Mallorca this weekend, even if he doesn't play immediately.
