Asim Arun's personal secy suspended after harassment complaint
Lucknow: Jaikishan Singh, the personal secretary (PS) to Uttar Pradesh social welfare minister Asim Arun, was suspended on Friday—a day after he was booked for sexual harassment of a woman employee at the department's headquarters. According to the FIR, the survivor, a contractual staffer at Bhagedari Bhawan in Lucknow, accused Singh of repeated sexual misconduct, including two recent instances of inappropriate physical contact. Breaking down before the minister, she recounted incidents that took place on July 28 and four to five days prior, alleging prolonged harassment. Minister Arun, upon hearing the complaint, immediately summoned the police to his office. Singh was taken into custody on the spot and later suspended. Arun also recommended a full administrative inquiry through the state secretariat. "Law doesn't stop at the road—it applies inside offices too," the minister said, praising the woman's courage in speaking up. "No one is above the law—not even my own PS." A former IPS officer, Arun added that the govt will now strictly enforce the POSH Act and Vishaka Guidelines across departments. He also announced a new "Outsourcing Corporation" under CM Yogi Adityanath to address broader structural issues affecting outsourced workers. However, Arun cautioned against linking sexual harassment to outsourcing alone. "This is a gendered crime. The nature of employment does not determine the seriousness of the offence," he said, promising increased awareness campaigns and stronger internal complaint mechanisms.

Travelers passing through one of the largest airports in the US will soon have access to a plush new private terminal housed inside a historic Jet Age building. PS, the company formerly known as Private Suite, is restoring the historic Pan Am building at Miami International Airport, transforming it into an ultra-exclusive lounge space for paying commercial airline passengers. PS currently operates out of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), with plans to expand to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) in 2026. The luxe spaces, popular among high net-worth and celebrity travelers, are separate from the main airport terminals and offer bespoke services as well as private security checkpoints. When the project at MIA is complete, travelers will feel as if they're stepping back into the glamour of the 'Golden Age' of air travel in the 1960s—but with upgraded, modern amenities. The terminal will feature private TSA and customs clearance, private suites, a bar, an outdoor courtyard, decorative pools, work spaces, and more. Originally constructed in 1963 to serve as Pan Am's regional headquarters, the building is a shining example of midcentury modern Miami architecture. It was nicknamed the 'Taj Mahal of Miami' for its similar layout to the real Taj Mahal and design that "resembles that of the US Embassy in New Delhi from 1959,' according to RJ Heisenbottle Architects, the firm overseeing the restoration project.

Asim Arun gets his PS arrested after woman alleges harassment
Lucknow: In a rare show of swift accountability, Uttar Pradesh minister and former IPS officer Asim Arun on Thursday got his personal secretary (PS) Jai Kishan Singh arrested after a woman employee accused him of outraging modesty at the Social Welfare Department headquarters in Lucknow. The victim, posted at the department's Bhagedar Bhawan office, broke down in front of Arun while recounting the repeated inappropriate behaviour by Singh. Distressed and in tears, the woman alleged that Singh was harassing her for a long time with obscene gestures and inappropriate advances. Moved by her plea, Arun — the social welfare minister (independent charge) who served in the Indian Police Service for 27 years before joining politics in 2022 — took prompt action. He called the police from his office around 3:30 pm and asked them to arrive immediately. When questioned by the minister, Singh allegedly tried to evade responsibility by making excuses. The police from Gomtinagar station arrived shortly after and took Singh into custody. The minister made the woman file a formal written complaint in front of the officers. Visuals from the scene showed the accused being escorted out of the department's premises by the Gomti Nagar police team. He was seen carrying a diary as he was led away. Police later confirmed that Singh, who holds the post of review officer, is a native of Bamrauli in Prayagraj and currently resides with his family in Vikrant Khand, Chinhat, Lucknow. ACP, Gomtinagar, BN Singh confirmed the development: "The accused Jai Kishan Singh was arrested. An FIR under the charges of BNS 74 (outraging modesty of woman) has been registered based on the victim's complaint, and appropriate legal action will follow," he said.

Murshidabad TMC worker hacked to death
1 2 Behrampore: A TMC worker was hacked to death in Sialai village in Murshidabad's Bharatpur on Wednesday night. Two persons, including a TMC gram panchayat member, were detained for questioning. Preliminary probe suggests that Shasthi Ghosh's murder might have been linked to an old rivalry. The 56-year-old had recently questioned accounts of a local Puja committee. His family alleged that this demand for transparency led to Ghosh's murder. He was followed by attackers on two bikes and attacked with sharp weapons at a riverbank, said the family. Cops said Ghosh was a "known rowdy" and several criminal cases — including robbery, dacoity and murder — were pending against him. He was required to report regularly to the local PS.
