‘Go to anger management': Trump's savage message to Greta Thunberg

Sky News AU19 hours ago

United States President Donald Trump has savagely roasted Greta Thunberg over her trip to Gaza.
His roast came during an Invest America Meeting, where he slammed the political activists' trip.
Great Thunberg had recently attempted to travel to the Gaza Strip to provide humanitarian aid to the region after Israel halted shipments.
More than 500,000 people in Gaza face starvation and famine, with 2.1 million at critical risk as Israeli blockades persist.
When asked by a reporter if the US president had a message for Greta Thunberg, he said he thought she should 'go to an anger management class'.
'She's a strange person, she's a young angry person, I don't know if it's real anger, it's hard to believe.
When asked if he agreed with Thunberg's statement that she was 'kidnapped' by Israel, the US president made a quick joke about the activist.
'I think Israel has enough problems without kidnapping Greta Thunberg,' Trump said.

After their upset 1-0 win over Japan, the Socceroos only needed to avoid defeat by less than five goals in their final game in Jeddah to seal automatic World Cup finals qualification for the first time in 12 years. Saudi forward Abdulrahman Al-Aboud scored in the 19th minute at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium to make things tense. But striker Mitch Duke teed up Connor Metcalfe to equalise in the 42nd minute, before putting Australia in front in the 48th. Read the full story here. Read the full story here. Australia's Foreign Minister Penny Wong has addressed the nation's decision to impose sanctions on two Israeli ministers for inciting violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. The sanctions target National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, both members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition government. 'We have not taken this decision lightly,' she told Sunrise on Wednesday. 'This is a decision we have made after a long process of deliberation and consideration, and that we are taking in conjunction with other partners, with the United Kingdom, with New Zealand, with Canada and, of course, with others. 'We're doing that because we are all deeply concerned about the extremist settler enterprise of the Netanyahu government. 'Why are we concerned about that now? We are concerned about it because it is undermining the prospects of two states and ultimately we, along with those other countries and the broader international community, believe we can only see peace in the Middle East when we deal with two states and when both Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace and security.' Australia imposes sanctions on hardline Israeli ministers

The foreign ministers of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Norway and the United Kingdom have announced sanctions and other measures targeting Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich for inciting violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. It is a major foreign policy move by the Albanese government that puts Australia at odds with the United States. WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Australia sanctions Israeli ministers. Foreign Minister Penny Wong says Itamar Ben-Gvir (Israel 's security minister) and Bezalel Smotrich (Israel's finance minister) have incited extremist violence and serious abuses of Palestinian human rights. The pair have also agitated for continuing fighting in Gaza and the return of Jewish settlement in the strip. 'Extremist rhetoric advocating the forced displacement of Palestinians and the creation of new Israeli settlements is appalling and dangerous,' Wong said in a statement. 'These actions are not acceptable. We have engaged the Israeli government on this issue extensively, yet violent perpetrators continue to act with encouragement and impunity. 'This is why we have taken this action now – to hold those responsible to account. The Israeli Government must uphold its obligations under international law and we call on it to take meaningful action to end extremist, violent and expansionist rhetoric. 'The measures announced today do not deviate from our unwavering support for Israel's security and we continue to condemn the horrific terror attacks of 7 October by Hamas. 'Today's measures are targeted towards individuals who in our view undermine Israel's own security and its standing in the world. 'We continue to want a strong friendship with the people of Israel based on our shared ties, values and commitment to their security and future.' Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar say his nation is threatening to retaliate against the sanctions. 'It is outrageous that elected representatives and members of the government are subjected to this kind of measures,' he said. 'I discussed it earlier today with Prime Minister Netanyahu, and we will hold a special government meeting early next week to decide on our response to this unacceptable decision.'

West Bank violence: Australia bans two Israeli ministers Ben-Gvir and Smotrich for inciting ‘extremist violence' in West Bank

Australia has issued travel bans and financial sanctions against two high-ranking Israeli government ministers after accusing them of inciting violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced the sanctions in a joint statement alongside her counterparts representing the governments of Canada, New Zealand, Norway and the United Kingdom. '(National Security Minister) Itamar Ben-Gvir and (Finance Minister) Bezalel Smotrich have incited extremist violence and serious abuses of Palestinian human rights,' the joint statement said. 'Extremist rhetoric advocating the forced displacement of Palestinians and the creation of new Israeli settlements is appalling and dangerous. 'These actions are not acceptable.' Mr Ben-Gvir, from the Jewish Power party, and Mr Smotrich, of the Religious Zionism Party, are members of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition government. Senator Wong said Australia 'will continue to work with the Israeli government and a range of partners' to help establish peace in the region. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar called the sanctions 'outrageous' and said his government would hold a meeting early next week to decide how to respond to the 'unacceptable decision' made by the five countries. The sanctions relate to the West Bank but the joint statement on Wednesday morning also said 'this cannot be seen in isolation from the catastrophe in Gaza'. 'The measures announced today do not deviate from our unwavering support for Israel's security and we continue to condemn the horrific terror attacks of 7 October by Hamas,' the joint statement said. 'Today's measures are targeted towards individuals who, in our view, undermine Israel's own security and its standing in the world.' Australia's sanctions against the ministers took effect just after midnight. The Australian Centre for International Justice said the decision by five countries was a significant step and would send a clear message. 'These measures directly respond to the compelling evidence implicating Ben-Gvir and Smotrich in inciting extremist violence and serious human rights violations against Palestinians,' the centre's Lara Khider said. with Reuters
