Stuart Broad to work with South Africa ahead of World Test Championship final

It is understood Broad – who claimed 604 wickets in 167 Tests, putting him fifth on the all-time list – will join South Africa's squad on June 9 at Lord's and work as a consultant for the day at training. This will be Broad's first coaching role, with the 38-year-old having been a television pundit for Sky Sports since retiring from professional cricket at the end of the 2023 Ashes. Broad bowed out in memorable fashion, hitting the last ball he faced for six and then claiming a wicket with his final delivery to help England claim a thrilling 2-2 series draw at the Kia Oval. He was frequently at his best against Australia and finished with 153 wickets against them – the most by any bowler in Tests – which included eight of his 20 five-wicket match hauls and one 10-for. South Africa will be hoping some of Broad's magic can rub off on the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen in their first appearance in the World Test Championship final, which starts on June 11 at Lord's.

Will West Ham board pick Potter's transfers? Transfer window Q&A

BBC Sport chief football reporter Simon Stone has been answering your questions on the summer transfer window.A tired West Ham fan asked: What is your view on the current transfer set up at West Ham? Is Potter in charge or is it the same mess where the board impose their players onto the manager and then fail to get anyone the manager actually wants? P.s. I'm aware we had Steidten in place before but that still didn't seem to stop the above scenario from happening!Simon answered: Nice easy one to start with... Firstly, Graham Potter has brought Kyle Macaulay in as his head of recruitment. The pair have worked with each other for over a decade, so it seems like a perfectly sensible appointment.I do understand the criticism of the ownership being involved in recruitment but David Sullivan does run the club, so he is entitled to have an input. There has been a couple of occasions when he tried to step back, when Manuel Pellegrini came in, and had Mario Husillos working with him, and then with Tim Steidten. Neither problem with Steidten was that his philosophy differed hugely from that of David Moyes, so the partnership was ineffective. Then, when Moyes left, Steidten made a succession of poor decisions, starting with Julen Lopetegui as Moyes' I think West Ham are in a better position now than they have been for a long time. The problem at the moment is the money from selling Declan Rice has gone so a decision has to be made around the future of Mohammed the Q&A and the rest of the day's football news here

How much can Newcastle spend this summer? Transfer window Q&A

BBC Sport chief football reporter Simon Stone has been answering your questions on the summer transfer asked: I'm a Newcastle fan. Under PSR restrictions, what can we spend this summer?I'm unsure if transfer budgets; a) can be ascertained from public P&L statementsb) can be guesstimated by the journos, orc) are completely unknownSimon answered: If we are being honest, they are guesstimates because the club finance directors are not going to tell us what the exact position do know what the accounts tell us, but the actual P&S figure is different because clubs can claim certain expenditure back. However, it's pretty certain Newcastle are in a better position than they were last summer, when they were selling players by 30 June to ensure they didn't get into trouble. They have clearly qualified for the expanded Champions League, which will drive more revenue.I think the approach around Aleksander Isak is telling. I don't feel Newcastle would be quite as determined to keep him if they didn't have the capability to strengthen Eddie Howe's the Q&A and the rest of the day's football news here
