'Al Imam Al Tayeb', 'One Ummah', 'Human Values with Elders', 'Month of Harmonious Coexistence' - programs by MCE during Ramadan
Mohamed Mandour
During the holy month of Ramadan, the social media accounts of the Muslim Council of Elders will showcase five Ramadan-themed programs: "Al-Imam Al-Tayeb," "One Ummah," "Human Values with the Elders," "Month of Harmonious Coexistence," and "Our Ethics." These programs are integral to the Muslim Council of Elders' media strategy, aimed at leveraging every available platform to foster dialogue, peace, tolerance, and coexistence.
The program "Al-Imam Al-Tayeb" hosts His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders. In this series, His Eminence delves into the Most Beautiful Names of Allah, exploring their meanings, the significance of understanding them, and their impact on a believer's behavior and interactions with others.
Building on the significance of dialogue for unity among all components of the Muslim Ummah and following the outcomes of the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference hosted in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the program "One Ummah" has been launched by the Muslim Council of Elders. The conference, attended by His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, saw participation from over 400 scholars and thinkers from various Islamic schools of thought. It resulted in the release of 'The Call of the People of Qiblah' charter. The program "One Ummah" emphasizes the importance of dialogue, coexistence strategies among all components of the Ummah, the role of academic institutions and youth in advancing Islamic dialogue, and the challenges that such dialogue faces.
The program "Human Values with the Elders," now in its third consecutive year, continues to explore the noble human values outlined in the Document on Human Fraternity. These include cooperation, human solidarity, dignity, peace, coexistence, justice, and equality. The program highlights their vital role in enhancing human life, fostering peace and harmony, and building cohesive and interconnected societies.
The program "Month of Harmonious Coexistence" delves into a variety of human values that are especially pertinent during the holy month of Ramadan. It features episodes that focus on the values of coexistence and tolerance, covering topics such as the jurisprudence of differing opinions, the etiquette of dialogue, managing differences, viewing differences as divine mercy, and utilizing diversity and differences to benefit the community and build nations, among other foundational human values that promote coexistence.
For the first time, in recognition of the critical role of ethics and education in shaping effective Islamic communities, the Muslim Council of Elders has launched the program "Our Ethics." Inspired by the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who said, "I was sent to perfect good character," this program is dedicated to instilling essential ethical values in the youth and future generations. Featured values include speaking kindly to people, assisting those in distress, encouraging good deeds, being a good neighbor, and other moral principles.

Power outages sweep Egypt during Eid al-Adha
Egyptians across the country complained of power outages during the Eid al-Adha holiday, without prior notice from electricity companies regarding outage times or regular maintenance. This interrupted their celebration of the holiday and even impacted high school students preparing for their final exams. It also damaged some electrical appliances. An official source at the Ministry of Electricity confirmed that there was no load shedding done in any area of the governorates, and that the cause of the outages was increased consumption and pressure on the networks. In Minya Governorate, Upper Egypt, residents of Samalut Center, north of the governorate, complained of repeated power outages in several areas, with outages lasting for more than three consecutive hours. In Beni Suef, various centers and neighborhoods in the governorate experienced repeated power outages. At Qalyubia, Nile Delta, the Mit Halfa area of Qalyub experienced a power outage on the second day of Eid al-Adha for more than four hours. The village's electricity official stated that the outage was due to a technical fault in one of the connections. The outage was eventually repaired and service was restored. Sharqiya saw a large number of Belbeis residents complain of power outages during the holiday, in addition to a weak power supply when it returned, which impacted the operation of electrical appliances. In Suez, residents of the 'Salam 1' area complained of a two-hour power outage during the day of Eid, amidst baking temperatures. Within the Bagour district, the Electricity Company announced a three-hour power outage from 6:00 am to 9:00 am as part of a plan to develop and improve the electrical grid. In Monufiya, residents expressed their discontent over the frequent power outages during Eid al-Adha. And in North Sinai, power was cut off in the villages of Sheikh Zuweid area due to a fault in the transformer supplying the area. The fault was repaired and electricity was restored immediately, according to an official source in the governorate's electricity company. Edited translation from Al-Masry Al-Youm

Happy Eid, Op-ed
Elham Aboul Fateh Happy Eid to you all! Today marks the second day of the blessed Eid al-Adha. Eid al-Adha is not merely a holiday filled with joy and delight; it is a sacred moment, recurring over thousands of years, to remind us of the greatest lessons of faith and sacrifice. The story of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who said to himself, "Indeed, I am going to my Lord; He will guide me" (Surah As-Saffat: 99), as he prepared to carry out God's command to sacrifice his dearest possession, his beloved son, is a message that remains etched in our hearts and souls. His obedience was without hesitation, and his faith was unwavering, until Allah, out of His mercy, replaced the sacrifice with a magnificent ram. Thus, it was both redemption and mercy simultaneously. O Allah, Protector of the heavens and the earth, we ask You to protect our children and safeguard our country from all harm. Make our beloved Egypt a homeland of peace and glory, steadfast against fierce winds, strong by Your wisdom and mercy. O Allah, grant us a good ending, and grant us a sincere intention to build the earth with goodness and righteous deeds. O Allah, Most Generous and Merciful, You who hold dominion over the heavens and the earth, we ask You in these blessed days to protect our country from all evil and to lift every worry and grief from our homeland. O Allah, keep Egypt safe and resilient in Your care, illuminating its paths with the light of Your wisdom, and raising its banner of glory high and unshakeable. O Allah, keep our children and families in Your preservation and safety, guard them from every danger, and fill their hearts with tranquility and faith. O Allah, grant us strength of resolve, expand our provisions, and bless our time and deeds. O Allah, just as You commanded Prophet Ibrahim to obey You and brought him closer to You through sacrifice, make us also closer to You, and keep us firm on the path of truth and righteous deeds. O Allah, make all our days Eids – Eids of peace, security, and success. Protect our homeland Egypt from all harm, and make it a land of goodness, dignity, and prosperity. O Allah with whom trusts are never lost, O Allah with whom hope is never disappointed, all praise is due to You for Your countless blessings, and all thanks are due to You for Your unending grace. Amen, O Lord of the Worlds. May Egypt, its people and government, and the entire Islamic world be in peace and safety every year. read more Analysis- Turkey Has 0 Regional Allies... Why?
