Exclusive: Morgan Stanley draws on Goldman Sachs to explore sale of PNE stake, sources say
FRANKFURT, March 27 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley is working with Goldman Sachs to explore the sale of its majority stake in German renewable project developer PNE, two people familiar with the matter said, a process that could trigger a bid for the 1.09 billion euros ($1.17 billion) firm.

A more structured sales process is expected to start later in the year and could potentially result in a transaction in the autumn, the people said, adding deliberations were at an early stage and there was no certainty that a deal would happen.
Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and PNE all declined to comment.
Under German stock market rules, buying Morgan Stanley's entire stake would trigger a mandatory takeover bid for all of PNE, which develops wind and photovoltaic projects and had a pipeline of 18.9 gigawatts as of end-2024.
The move marks Morgan Stanley's latest effort to cash in on its stake after a previous attempt to dispose of it ended without success in early 2023, a process that was expected to draw interest from EQT (EQTAB.ST), opens new tab and Engie (ENGIE.PA), opens new tab at the time according to sources familiar with the matter.
Shares in PNE have risen 28% year-to-date to 14.16 euros per share, up more than three times from the 4.00 euros Morgan Stanley paid when it first bought a stake in the company in 2020.
On Thursday, SDAX-listed (.SDAXI), opens new tab PNE reported a 73% increase in 2024 core profit (EBITDA) to 69 million euros, expecting it to rise to as much as 110 million in the current year and to reach 140 million by 2027.

"The former Jumping Jaks/ABC site proposals fundamentally compromise the Mackintosh Building's heritage significance as a purpose-design art school and with it, the building's future use as a working art school with the economic, social, cultural and wider regeneration benefits this will bring to the city. "We have been clear in our extensive discussions with VITA that, while recognising the importance and complexities of this city block, an achievable solution can be found which delivers both financial viability for them while mitigating impact to the Mackintosh Building and Glasgow's important built heritage." Their work on the reinstatement of the 'Mack' will be published later in 2025. James Grimley, Reiach and Hall Architects, said: "The massing and proximity of the proposed development would cause grave harm to the setting, character, and function of the Mackintosh Building including significantly reducing daylight and compromising the buildings intended function where daylight is integral to its design and purpose. "Equally important is how the functionality of several critical spaces would be compromised by the proposals, reducing the educational and experiential value of these, the overall heritage significance of the building as one of the world's first purpose-designed schools of art and also its use and purpose when rebuilt. "There are alternative approaches that would reduce the development's detrimental impact on a building of such international importance. "A revised scheme that respects and protects the Mackintosh Building's future both as a heritage asset and working art school, as it was designed, should be pursued." If successful, the proposed Vita development, featuring their House of Social brand, will bring around £70million investment to Sauchiehall Street. The student accommodation would feature 356 bed spaces, comprising 306 four, five, and six-bedroom 'houses' with a shared kitchen and lounge and 50 studio spaces. It would also feature a fitness centre, social and study spaces, café-style lounges, and cycle storage. James Rooke, Planning Director for Vita Group, who has successfully created other new sites in Glasgow, said: 'We believe our proposals offer a unique approach to student living and the benefits the development will bring extend far beyond the student community. "It will generate significant economic benefits, will help to reenergise Sauchiehall Street and contribute to the city's Golden Z ambitions. 'This is an incredibly challenging site to redevelop, and we've worked hard to create proposals that are deliverable and appropriate.' "There's no doubt it's been a blight on Sauchiehall Street, and we need to secure this much-needed investment, which would be transformational.' The former cinema turned nightclub had lain derelict since the second Glasgow School of Art fire spilt over onto its roof in July 2018.

Leroy Sane's staggering salary demands sheds light on Arsenal transfer failure
Germany star Leroy Sane was linked with a free transfer to Arsenal earlier in the transfer window but will instead earn an eye-watering sum at new club Galatasaray The staggering wages Galatasaray are paying Leroy Sane have come to light. Sane had been named in Bayern Munich's squad for the Club World Cup, with a view to featuring in the competition. However, he left to undergo a medical in Istanbul on Thursday before completing the switch. Sane has spoken of the impact of fellow Germany international Kerem Demirbay in convincing him to move to Istanbul. He is the third new arrival this summer, with Ismail Jakobs and Przemyslaw Frankowski both completing permanent moves after spending time at the club on loan last term. 'It is a great honor for me to be here and to sign here. I would like to thank the club for giving me this opportunity," Sane said upon his unveiling. "I have come to the biggest club in Türkiye. I can't wait to give everything I have for this club and achieve success in this team. I can't wait to meet with the fans.' He continued: "I spoke to Kerem and he was incredibly happy that I was coming here. He told me that I would be coming to a great club, great people, great fans and a great country. He told me how happy he was and how happy I would be too. I can't wait to meet him as soon as possible." Sane will take the number 10 shirt previously worn by Belgium star Dries Mertens. 'Dries Mertens was a great player, a very important player. I want to achieve those successes with his number. I want to bring luck to Galatasaray with this number," the German said.
