"Everything Just Happened In Seconds": Pahalgam Attack Victim's Wife Recall Horror

NDTV24-04-2025

Kanpur:
Two days after the heartbreaking Pahalgam attack, Shital Kalathiya, wife of Shailesh Kalathiya, one among the 26 victims, remembering the details of the incident said that they had just reached the top of Mini Switzerland and had sat down for a meal when they heard the firing.
"We had just reached Mini Switzerland when the firing had started. It happened twice, and after the second shot, everyone started running. They surrounded us and asked the Hindu men to separate from the Muslim men...We were all silent and were just hoping that they would go away. But everything just happened in a second. They watched all of them die... there was nothing I could do," the wife said speaking to ANI.
Still in shock, Shital stated how she had only seen this happening in movies and also questioned the absence of security at the spot.
"We had only seen this happening in movies, but when we saw this in real life, it broke us. What shocked us the most is that there was not a single security person present there. if they knew that such risks were present at that place, they shouldn't have let anyone go up there..." she said.
Naksh, the son of the dead said that they were a family of four who had gone on the trip.
"We were four of us who went, including my father, my mother and my sister," he said.
Locals also recalled the horror they witnessed.
Sajad Ahmad Bhat, a shawl hawker from Pahalgam was seen carrying a tourist injured during the attack in a video that went viral on social media.
Recalling the incident, Bhat said that he had received a message from the head of Pahalgam Poney Association, Abdul Waheed Wan, further stating that it was his duty to help the tourists, who were also their guests.
"I was sitting at my home when I received a text from the Pahalgam Poney Association president, Abdul Waheed Wan about the incident in the Baisaran Valley. We went with him and reached the location around 3-3:30 p.m... We gave water to the injured and lifted those who could not walk.... Humanity comes before religion. It is our duty to help the tourists as they are our guests, and our livelihood depends on them. We brought many of them to the hospital... We did not care about our own lives because when we went there, people were pleading for help... When I saw the tourists crying, tears came to my eyes... Their arrival lights up the lamps in our houses. Our life is incomplete without them..." Bhat told ANI.
Terrorists attacked tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam on Tuesday, killing 25 Indian nationals and one from Nepal while leaving several others injured, in one of the deadliest attacks in the valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed.

"Precise striking capability of our brave soldiers has razed terrorist hideouts to ground": Amit Shah on Operation Sindoor

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 15 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that precise striking capability carried out by the Indian armed forces inside Pakistan territory completely destroyed terrorists hideouts during Operation Sindoor. Amit Shah made these remarks at a UP Police recruitment ceremony where more than 60,244 Civil Police Constables received appointment letters. 'Through Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Modi sent a message to the world that the blood of Indians shall not be spilled, and anyone who dares to do so will face severe punishment. Precise striking capability of our brave soldiers has razed terrorist hideouts to the ground, marking the beginning of a strong new India,' Amit Shah said. Recalling the India's response following 'nefarious' attacks in Uri, Pulwama, and Poonch, Amit Shah said, 'Modi government responded to Uri attack with a surgical strike, to Pulwama attack with an airstrike, and to Poonch attack with Operation Sindoor, destroying the terrorists' headquarters.' Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 7, 2025, in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians showcased a calibrated, tri-services response that embodied precision, professionalism, and purpose. Operation Sindoor was conceived as a punitive and targeted campaign to dismantle the terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan. This multi-dimensional operation effectively neutralized terrorist threats, deterred Pakistani aggression, and firmly enforced India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism. The operation maintained strategic restraint while gaining international support. (ANI)

Two Aryan Aviation officials booked after Rudraprayag helicopter crash kills seven

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 15 (ANI): Following the helicopter crash in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district that claimed seven lives, a case has been registered against two officials of Aryan Aviation, the company that operated the helicopter, officials said on Sunday. Police have filed a case against Kaushik Pathak, the Accountable Manager, and Vikas Tomar, the Manager of Aryan Aviation, under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 10 of the Aircraft Act, they said. Section 105 pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, while Section 10 deals with penalties for violating aircraft safety regulations. Aryan Aviation's Bell 407 helicopter operating in the 'Shri Kedarnath Ji - Aryan Helipad, Guptkashi' sector crashed near Gaurikund, according to a statement from the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The helicopter took off from Guptkashi at 05:10 am and landed at Shri Kedarnath Ji Helipad at 05:18 am before departing again at 05:19 am for Guptkashi and is reported to have crashed near Gaurikund between 05:30 am and 05:45 am, the statement said. The ministry said that preliminary indications suggest that the probable cause of the crash may be Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT), with the helicopter reportedly airborne despite poor visibility and extensive clouding at the valley entry area. The exact cause will be determined through a detailed investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). The crash resulted in the deaths of all seven people on board, including five adults, one infant, and one crew member. Following the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu spoke with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to express their condolences and offer full support from the Centre. According to an official statement from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister's office, CM Dhami informed the Prime Minister that a high-level meeting was held immediately after the incident and instructions were given to probe the incident. Jammu and Kashmir: Raids in Poonch to bust terror links

Representative image (ANI) JAMMU: J&K police conducted raids Sunday at eight locations in Jammu's Poonch to dismantle infrastructure of terror and thwart attempts by Pakistan-based operatives to use locals and plot attacks. Officials said the searches covered locations in Sawjian and adjoining areas in Poonch, targeting homes of people associated with Pakistan-based terrorists. 'J&K police launched the simultaneous raids as part of a crackdown on Pakistan-based terrorists to use contacts for motivating gullible youth to carry out subversive activities in the region, disturbing peace and harmony,' an official said. The raids focused on gathering leads about cross-border connections and support systems for terrorists. 'The operation is part of ongoing efforts to tighten security and check efforts to revive militancy in the region,' the official said. Earlier on June 4, similar raids were mounted at 60 locations in the frontier district to smoke out suspected OverGround Workers (OGWs) who provide logistical and other support to terrorists. Security agencies believe that terrorists can't survive long without the help of OGWs. On May 18, nearly one-and-a-half dozen places were searched, mostly houses of OGWs and relatives of terrorists operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like She Found THIS Chat on Her Husband's Phone and Vanished Overnight medalmerit Learn More Undo These searches were not confined only to Poonch but also extended to the neighbouring border district of Rajouri. On November 25 last year, multiple raids in Rajouri as part of terror probes led police to claim seizures of incriminating material and documents. The cases pertained to some OGWs conniving with proscribed outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) to organise and execute terror-related activities, police said.
