Now, an actor who was previously in the running to play James Bond, is being tipped to now play the iconic villain role.
According to the bookies Peaky Blinders actor Cillian Murphy is the current favourite to be named as the next 007 baddie.
He is leading the pack with odds of 9/2.
The Irish actor - best known for playing Thomas Shelby - previously said he was "too old" to play the famous spy.
But thanks to being at the peak of his career, the Oppenheimer star could be the next Bond villian.
Bookmaker expert Jake Ashton said: 'The villain role in Bond movies is just as iconic as Bond himself.
"With Cillian Murphy at the height of his powers and trusted by major directors, he's a natural favourite.'
RACE FOR BOND
Meanwhile, the race for James Bond is heating up.
Stars including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, Henry Cavill, and Tom Hardy, have all been strongly tipped to replace Daniel Craig as the Secret Service agent.
The Sun exclusively told how Aaron had been formally offered the role of the Brit spy last year.
Brit acting legend admits he wants to play James Bond saying 'the world's gone crazy' if Amazon casts a US star for 007
This came after we first reported the Marvel movie star had emerged as a surprise frontrunner three years ago.
The Sun previously revealed the handsome actor was in the running for the job after secretly screen testing for Bond movie supremo Barbara Broccoli at Pinewood Studios.
A source previously told us: ' Bond is Aaron's job, should he wish to accept it.
"The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back."
When asked previously whether he would step into Bond's shoes, Aaron said: 'I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role.
"I take it as a great compliment.'

BRIT BOND
It's also been confirmed that Bond will still be a British man despite being sold to 'woke' Hollywood streaming site Amazon.
Before giving up ownership of the popular film franchise, 007's stewards Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson insisted the spy would retain his nationality and gender.
Barbara, who took over the Bond brand from company Eon Productions alongside Mr Wilson in 1995, made the arrangement before she agreed to sell the rights to Amazon in a £770million deal.
Insiders have hit back at fears the streaming giant - owned by Jeff Bezos - will turn Bond 'woke'.
An insider told the Mail on Sunday: 'Amazon is committed to keeping the spirit of Bond alive and that means he has to be British or from the Commonwealth - and he has to be male.'
Half-siblings Barbara and Michael took over the Bond franchise from their father and stepfather Albert "Cubby" Broccoli - who bought the film rights from Bond creator Ian Fleming in 1961.
Since then there have been 25 movies - where Bond defeats villains bent on destruction, all while drinking martinis and seducing women.
Timeline of James Bond actors
Over the years there have been seven actors who have played 007.
The first ever James Bond film was in 1962, and this is who has played the lead role over the years:
Sean Connery - The late star was the first ever actor to play Bond, and reprised the role for seven movies.
George Lazenby - The star only played Bond once, but was the youngest actor to ever play the spy.
Roger Moore - The late movie star spent 12 years making seven films in the famous franchise.
Timothy Dalton - The smooth actor took over from Roger Moore and appeared in The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill.
Pierce Brosnan - The handsome star played Bond for four movies from 1995 to 2002.
Daniel Craig - The British star was the first blonde James Bond and the sixth actor to win the role in 2005.

Watch the awkward moment Love Island hunk completely forgets villa beauty's name and confuses her with All Stars girl
THERE was seriously cringe moment in the first Unseen Bits episode of the series. One of the stunning new villa girls was confused with a famous Love Island star from the most recent All Stars series. 6 6 6 6 In tonight's episode of Unseen Bits, now-axed Blu referred to Helena as Harriett a few times. Seemingly getting Helena Ford confused with Harriett Blackmore from Love Island: All Stars, Blu got muddled up and kept referring to Helena as Harriett. In a conversation with Ben and Tommy, Blu repeatedly said "Harriett" when talking about Helena. Even in the beach hut doing in a confessional, Blu kept referring to Helena as Harriett. In the clip where he was chatting to the boys, Blu asked what "blondie's name" was again. Ben and Tommy were then forced to correct him. Blu was dumped from the villa in Friday night's episode after on Thursday, he and Shea were left single and vulnerable when they were failed to get chosen by the girls to be in couples. Between both of the lads, they were tasked with deciding who should stay and who should go. But both lads were determined to stay and refused to back down. Blu confidently said: "I ain't f****** leaving." And Shea echoed: "I ain't either." The Sun then revealed that the pair got into a war of words, with this seen in Friday night's episode before the Islanders were tasked with deciding on who would be dumped from the Island. Ultimately, Blu was dumped from the Island, despite him not agreeing with the outcome. Taking a final jab at Shea after his exit, Blu didn't hold back as he made a veiled dig. Love Island 2025 full lineup Harry Cooksley: A 30-year-old footballer with charm to spare. Sophie Lee: A model and motivational speaker who has overcome adversity after suffering life-changing burns in an accident. Shakira Khan: A 22-year-old Manchester-based model, ready to turn heads. Blu Chegini: A boxer with striking model looks, seeking love in the villa. Megan Moore: A payroll specialist from Southampton, looking for someone tall and stylish. Alima Gagigo: International business graduate with brains and ambition. Tommy Bradley: A gym enthusiast with a big heart. Helena Ford: A Londoner with celebrity connections, aiming to find someone funny or Northern. Ben Holbrough: A model ready to make waves. Megan Clarke: An Irish actress already drawing comparisons to Maura Higgins. Dejon Noel-Williams: A personal trainer and semi-pro footballer, following in his footballer father's footsteps. Aaron Buckett: A towering 6'5' personal trainer. Conor Phillips: A 25-year-old Irish rugby pro Antonia Laites: Love Island's first bombshell revealed as sexy Las Vegas pool party waitress. Rose Selway: Beauty salon owner from Devon who runs 12 aesthetics clinics, boasting a famous clientele including former Love Islanders Departures: Kyle Ashman: Axed after an arrest over a machete attack emerged. He was released with no further action taken and denies any wrongdoing. "We asked them [the Islanders] for their point of view as we were both really stubborn in that situation. "We weren't going to budge, so we had to get them to make the decision," he explained in his exit interview. Then, taking a subtle swipe at Shea, Blu said: "I felt like I had a stronger bond with everyone in there, obviously I'd been there a bit longer. "I was constantly trying to make a connection and exploring everyone. "I was making moves as quickly as I could, as opposed to Shea who was a bit more laid back," he slammed. Blu went on: "Everyone had their own thoughts. "But listen, someone's got to go at the end of the day. "The way it went was better than I thought it would have gone; I had some nice things said about me and that meant a lot to me." 6

A Nazi rebranded as a Space Race hero – but you probably knew that already
Nasa, Nazis and the Space Race (Channel 4) is a strong, if misleadingly titled, one-off documentary. It tells the story of Operation Paperclip, one of the most controversial operations of the 20th century in which 1,600 former Nazi scientists were pardoned at the end of the war and then taken to the USA. There they were recruited to develop rockets, both for weapons and later space flight. In the meantime their reputations and history were conveniently whitewashed in the service of a new moral imperative: defeating the Russians in the space race. The film's title is misleading, however, because it quickly becomes apparent that this is really another chapter in the Wernher von Braun story. Von Braun was a member of the SS who worked under the Nazi regime and developed the V-2 rocket. How and why his past was forgotten and he was allowed to rebrand himself as an all-American hero – a space visionary rather than a war criminal – soon becomes the main point of interest in Nasa, Nazis and the Space Race. You can see why all the iron filings cling to Von Braun: his story is revealing and disconcerting, and here it is very well told. In the age of Netflix documentary series that go on forever and use all the bells and whistles as padding, a straight-down-the-lens history using only expert testimony and archive footage is intellectual balm. Splicing in Super-8 films of can-do, Roger Ramjet America in the 60s makes for great television. Von Braun himself, with his Aryan visage and bizarre helium voice, knew that he was telegenic before the term had even been invented. He cleverly utilised television, including through a Disney family programme called Man and the Moon; reputation veneering was one of his greatest achievements. But in focusing on the WVB story the film also undermines its own footing. The early voiceover promises newly declassified documents and exclusive footage, but by part four it's not clear what here is new. Only those who know nothing of von Braun – how he used to be perceived; how history judges him now – will be surprised at the documentary's conclusion. (That von Braun was allowed to outrun his Nazi past because of his scientific achievements.) And that takes some doing: von Braun crops up time and time again in popular culture, from Apple TV's space race drama For All Mankind to the Sixties satirist Tom Lehrer's song Wernher von Braun ('A man whose allegiance / Is ruled by expedience'). At the same time, here we have author Wayne Biddle on camera reminding us that his book Dark Side of the Moon, which came out in 2009, told us all of this 15 years ago. 'If he [von Braun] survives as a hero it's out of ignorance,' says a slightly tired-of-all-this Biddle. The question, then, is that if the von Braun story is old news, what in Nasa, Nazis and the Space Race is new? The answer is not much. Like re-reading a newspaper, it's an enjoyable, accomplished, but never revelatory way to pass the time.
