Like many big-ticket home purchases these days, shopping for a new mattress no longer requires trekking to a furniture store, awkwardly lying on a dozen beds under fluorescent lights, or fielding pushy sales pitches. Now, you can do your research from your couch, click 'order,' and have a luxury mattress show up at your front door in a box. But with so many brands promising the 'perfect' night's sleep, how do you know which one actually delivers?
That's where reviews like this come in.
I tested the Helix Midnight Luxe for four weeks — through hot nights, restless kids, and early alarms — to see if it lives up to the hype. Spoiler alert: it just might be the best mattress we've ever owned.

About the Brand
Launched in 2015, Helix Sleep is a New York City-based direct-to-consumer mattress brand that quickly made a name for itself by putting personalization at the forefront. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all bed-in-a-box, Helix was one of the first to create a sleep quiz that matches users to the mattress model best suited to their body type, sleeping position, and firmness preference.
Their lineup includes a collection of standard hybrid models and upgraded Luxe models, which include features like zoned lumbar support, quilted pillow tops, and advanced cooling technology. And for those who run warm at night (Hi, it's me!), Helix also offers models with a GlacioTex Cooling Cover — a high-tech fabric that draws heat away from your body for a more temperature-regulated sleep experience.
In short, Helix cuts through the noise with a truly customized approach to mattress shopping.
All Helix mattresses are designed and assembled in the U.S., shipped for free, and backed by a 100-night sleep trial and generous warranties.

Helix
Pros: Great for side sleepers
Excellent motion isolation
Effective cooling, even for hot sleepers
Plush comfort with strong support
Long trial period and limited lifetime warranty
Cons: Heavy and tricky to move alone
Slight edge sloping
On the pricier side (though worth it)
The bestselling Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress has a medium firmness and is available in sizes twin through California king, plus a short queen and an RV king.
Let's talk prices. While the brand is currently offering 25% off everything (plus a free bedding bundle with select mattresses) ahead of Memorial Day with the promo code MEMDAY25, prices for this mattress range from $1,436 to $2,873.33 before discounts.
The Helix Midnight Luxe is built specifically for side sleepers who crave pressure relief without losing support, one of the main reasons my wife and I chose this option. It features a plush quilted pillow top, multiple layers of responsive memory foam, and a zoned coil system that targets lumbar support — ideal for keeping your spine aligned through the night. Add the GlacioTex Cooling Cover, and you've got a mattress that feels cool to the touch and stays that way, even for the hottest of sleepers.
Designed and assembled right here in the United States (Arizona to be exact) using CertiPUR-US certified foams (meaning it's free of harmful chemicals and made with durability in mind) and zero chance of buyer's remorse thanks to the brand's 100-night trial. Plus, enjoy a limited lifetime warranty. Yes, you read that right.

Our Review
Twelve years ago, my wife and I made a questionable decision: we went mattress shopping right after a long, mimosa-fueled brunch. Maybe we should've tried a few more options. Maybe we shouldn't have bought the very first high-end memory foam mattress we flopped onto. Either way, we ended up with something completely wrong for the way we sleep.
After years of tossing, turning, and regretting our hasty decision, we finally had the opportunity to try the Helix Midnight Luxe—and it couldn't have come soon enough. Even the initial step, their online sleep quiz, felt like a revelation. It asked all the right questions about how we sleep, what we like, and what we don't. For the first time, it felt like a mattress was being chosen for us, not just sold to us.
The Unboxing
Unboxing the mattress was straightforward, but be warned — this California King mattress is heavy. It arrives tightly rolled and securely packed in a durable box, so you'll definitely want two people on hand to move it.
One tip from experience: make sure you're unrolling it right-side up. My wife and I accidentally laid it out upside down, and flipping it afterward in our tight space was no small feat.
Once in place, the mattress began to expand immediately and was fully decompressed within about three hours. As for any off-gassing, there was only a faint 'new mattress' scent that disappeared by the end of the first day — nothing overpowering or unpleasant.

How We Tested
We've been sleeping on the Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress for more than four weeks and I'm happy to share that it has not lost its initial firmness.
Since we were switching from a firm Tempurpedic mattress, we noticed the difference immediately. There was a plush comfort to the pillow top layer, but without causing a sinking effect and the mattress provided the balanced combination of sturdy support and cloud-like softness. More importantly, neither one of us woke up with the usual back pain that we used to experience with our previous mattress.
The cooling effect of the GlacioTex Cooling cover was also evident from the very first touch. Its breathable fabric far outperforms the cooling mattress protector that we used on our old memory foam mattress.
To provide a comprehensive review of the mattress, I evaluated it based on the following criteria: the overall comfort, support, heat level, and motion transfer.
Comfort: One of the standout features of the Midnight Luxe is its luxuriously soft pillow top layer. It strikes a perfect balance between plush comfort and gentle support, making it an ideal retreat, especially on those days when the kids take over the living room for their Sunday cartoon marathon. It cradles you just enough to feel cozy without sinking in too far, and it stays refreshingly cool, even on warmer days.
Support: The mattress delivers steady, full-body support with gentle contouring and minimal motion transfer, but the edge support isn't quite as firm as the center. If you tend to sleep near the perimeter — like I do when my daughters sneak into bed and slowly nudge me to the side — you might notice a bit of sloping. That said, it's subtle and never made the mattress feel unstable or unsupportive overall. For a plush hybrid, the performance around the edges still holds up surprisingly well.

Heat Level: As a hot sleeper, I've spent countless nights kicking off covers, flipping pillows, and even sweating through supposedly breathable sheets. My old memory foam mattress only made things worse, trapping heat and intensifying the discomfort as the night wore on. I even resorted to buying special cooling sheets just to make it tolerable. So when it came time to test the Helix Midnight Luxe (specifically its GlacioTex Cooling Cover) I knew I'd be putting it through a real-world challenge. The difference was immediate.
Even while setting it up on a warm March day in Los Angeles, I could feel the cool-to-the-touch sensation right away. The GlacioTex layer is designed to pull heat away from your body, and paired with the mattress's breathable hybrid construction, it actually works. For once, I didn't wake up in a sweat — and that alone felt like a win.
Motion Transfer: One of the few things I genuinely liked about our old memory foam mattress was its excellent motion isolation — it absorbed every toss, turn, and midnight bed invasion. With my wife and I shifting around, kids climbing in unannounced, and our dog leaping on and off like it's his personal playground (hence the need for a Cal King), uninterrupted sleep was rare. Fortunately, the Helix Midnight Luxe really shines in this area. It does an impressive job of minimizing motion transfer, allowing both of us to sleep through the usual chaos without constantly waking each other up.

How It Compares to Other Mattresses on the Market
The Helix Midnight Luxe has completely changed the way my wife and I sleep. We originally invested in a firm Tempur-Pedic memory foam mattress, not realizing it was the source of our lingering discomfort and occasional back pain. For years, we just assumed the problem was us, not the bed. Eventually, we upgraded to a Serta hybrid, which offered a slight support improvement but still lacked the cooling comfort and motion isolation we needed. It wasn't until we tested the Helix Midnight Luxe that we realized what truly restful sleep could feel like. It's everything we didn't know we were missing.
The Final Verdict
After years of sleeping on the wrong mattress, the Helix Midnight Luxe has been a game changer. It strikes an ideal balance of support and softness, keeps us cool through the night, and absorbs movement better than any mattress we've tried. From the personalized sleep quiz to the first night's rest, it's clear this mattress was designed with real-life sleepers in mind — even ones with kids, dogs, and a long history of bad mattress decisions. Simply put, it's the best sleep we've had in years.

Wings vs. Storm predictions, odds: WNBA best bets Tuesday

Successfully handicapping requires the ability to attack games from all angles. A bettor needs all the options of a tool belt because good opportunities do present themselves, and one must be able to recognize and seize them. The WNBA has a relatively long regular season with 44 games and the ebb and flow can provide an attractive angle, which is what I believe we have Tuesday. The Seattle Storm are 9.5-point home favorites to the Dallas Wings, who will play without standout rookie Paige Bueckers. The former UConn star will miss her second straight game due to a concussion. Bueckers ranks fourth in the WNBA with 6.7 assists per game, and her absence will certainly impact a 1-6 Dallas squad that already has plenty of limitations. That also means Arike Ogunbowale likely will look to shoot even more, as she hoisted 16 attempts in the most recent game (also without Bueckers). Kaila Charles #3 of the Dallas Wings. NBAE via Getty Images Her reckless approach often hurts the team, but there is always potential she catches fire. The scheduling spot does provide a good opportunity to back Seattle, which is riding a three-game losing streak. The Storm are a playoff-caliber team that figures to bounce back against such a weak squad, but the point spread is the great equalizer, and Ogunbowale's variance gives me pause. The Wings own the league's third-worst defensive rating, and wagering on Seattle's team total makes a lot more sense. This ensures Ogunbowale's shotmaking does not enter the equation. However, with the potential of a blowout, I worry the scoring will die down in the second half. In fact, that's exactly what happened in the first meeting, when Seattle led 56-41 at halftime and held on for a 79-71 victory. Betting on the NBA? I have a 45-39-1 ATS record in this Post sports section, and my next play is the Storm Over 43.5 points in the first half. I expect a strong start against a poor Wings defense, and I do not have to worry about a slow-paced second half. White House stands by tax bill after Musk calls it a 'disgusting abomination'

The White House defended the President Donald Trump-endorsed "big, beautiful bill" Tuesday after outgoing DOGE chief Elon Musk doubled down on his criticism, calling the legislation a "disgusting abomination." Musk, who has been openly critical of the proposed reconciliation bill, said Tuesday afternoon that he "just can't stand it anymore." "This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination," Musk added in a Tuesday afternoon post on X. "Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it." 'American Hero' Or 'Failure': Elon Musk's Doge Departure Divides Capitol Hill The bill passed the House in late May, ahead of Memorial Day, largely along party lines. However, two Republicans did vote against the measure, citing insufficient spending cuts and a rising national debt. GOP Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul has also signaled he likely will not vote in favor of the bill in its current form, citing a debt ceiling increase that is a red line for him. Trump has lashed out at Paul and others for opposing the bill, but he has taken a more measured approach to Musk's criticism. Read On The Fox News App "Look, the president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said during a Tuesday afternoon briefing when asked about Musk's most recent criticism. "It doesn't change the president's opinion. This is one big, beautiful bill and he's sticking to it," she said. Elon Musk Criticism Of Trump Tax Bill Frustrates Some Republicans: 'No Place In Congress' Musk, who led the cost-cutting efforts at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), previously criticized the bill during an interview with CBS, noting he was "disappointed" in the spending bill because "it undermines" all the work his DOGE team was doing. In May, when Trump was asked about Musk's criticism of the bill on CBS, he responded, "Well, our reaction's a lot of things," before pivoting to talk about the votes needed to pass the bill. "Number one, we have to get a lot of votes, we can't be cutting – we need to get a lot of support and we have a lot of support," he said. "We had to get it through the House, the House was, we had no Democrats. You know, if it was up to the Democrats, they'll take the 65% increase." Following Musk's Tuesday afternoon criticism, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., told reporters he hopes Musk "will come to a different conclusion" about the GOP's "big, beautiful" spending bill, adding the two have a "difference of opinion" about the legislation. Trump Criticizes Rand Paul Over Tax Bill Opposition: 'Votes No On Everything' In a recent interview, Thune addressed Musk's criticism in more detail, particularly the point that the current version of the GOP's spending bill "undermines" the work he has done with DOGE. "A lot of what Elon was working on was on the discretionary side of the budget, which this doesn't touch. The reconciliation bill just deals with mandatory spending," Thune said. "But we want to incorporate a lot of the savings that he found, and there are ways to do that." Thune said he hoped, through other legislative efforts, discretionary spending Musk is concerned about will be addressed. He pointed to a proposed "rescissions bill" expected to be pushed by the White House that Thune said will try "to capture a lot of what Elon found in these various agencies and puts it in a bill that's submitted to Congress."
