Pallavi noted that while Hindus were targeted, local Muslims were spared after reciting Bismillah. 'Four local Muslims helped us reach a hospital,' she said, with one even carrying her son for a mile.
Pallavi also criticised lack of security and urged PM Narendra Modi to 'respond appropriately,' stressing the need for preventive measures over blame.

GANDHINAGAR: The intense heat from 1.25 lakh litres of burning jet fuel left "no chance of saving lives" after AI 171 crashed, Union home minister Amit Shah, who reached Ahmedabad after the crash, said. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "All bodies have been recovered and DNA tests are being done to establish identities," he said after visiting the injured. 'Heat from 1.2L litres fuel left no chance of saving anyone' Shah said the searing heat from 1.25 lakh litres of jet fuel left "no chance of saving lives" after AI Flight 171 crashed Thursday in Ahmedabad. Of 242 people on board, only one survived - British citizen Viswashkumar Ramesh, with business in Diu. Shah visited the crash site and met the sole survivor at Ahmedabad civil hospital. "The temperature increased to such a level that there was no chance of saving lives," Shah told reporters after inspecting the wreckage and visiting the injured. "All bodies have been recovered and DNA sampling is underway to establish identities." Around 1,000 DNA tests would be conducted, including for relatives abroad, who have been informed and will be tested upon arrival, he said. "Gujarat has the facility for these tests. Mortal remains will be handed over after sampling," Shah said. Union civil aviation ministry has ordered a swift investigation into the crash, Shah said, with the aviation department initiating a probe. CM Bhupendra Patel, who returned from Bardoli to oversee rescue operations, joined Shah at the crash site and hospital, directing forensic and science teams at FSL and NFSU to expedite DNA collection as desperate families gathered. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Praising state response, Shah said: "Accidents cannot be prevented, but the administration's preparedness is tested during such times. Air India plane crash: Vijay Rupani latest Indian political bigwig to lose life in aviation tragedy

NEW DELHI: Former became the latest addition to a tragic list of Indian political leaders who lost their lives in air accidents, after Air India flight AI-171 crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on Thursday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The London-bound Dreamliner was carrying 242 passengers, with Rupani among the confirmed fatalities. This tragedy renews scrutiny on aviation safety involving public figures in India - an issue marred by repeated disasters and close escapes. Among the most high-profile air crash victims are Sanjay Gandhi - the influential son of former PM Indira Gandhi - who died in 1980 while piloting a small aircraft in Delhi. His death left a political vacuum and changed the course of Congress politics. Years earlier, Mohan Kumaramangalam, Union steel and mines minister, was killed in the 1973 crash of Indian Airlines flight 440 near Delhi. His body was identified only by a Parker pen and his hearing aid. Former Andhra Pradesh CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy perished in a 2009 chopper crash. In 2001, senior Congress leader and the then MP from Guna, Madhya Pradesh, Madhavrao Scindia died in a chartered plane crash in Uttar Pradesh - an incident that followed an earlier air scare in his political career which he survived. He had held key portfolios in Congress govts such as civil aviation, human resource development, railways, and communications. In 2002, the then Lok Sabha speaker GMC Balayogi died in a chopper crash. Others include Dorjee Khandu (Arunachal Pradesh CM), OP Jindal (Haryana power minister), & Surendra Singh - son of ex-Haryana CM Bansi Lal - who died in 2005 in a crash near Saharanpur. Notably, another Gujarat chief minister, Balwantrai Mehta, died in an air tragedy during the 1965 India-Pakistan war. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now His plane was mistakenly shot down by Pakistani fighter aircraft near the border, having been misidentified as a reconnaissance plane. Yet, there have been remarkable survivals. In 1977, the then PM Morarji Desai escaped unhurt when his helicopter made an emergency landing in the Northeast. In 2001, Narendra Modi, then Gujarat CM, survived an emergency landing during earthquake relief operations in Bhuj. M Venkaiah Naidu, former vice president, has had multiple near misses. In 2003, during taxiing, an engine fire broke out on an Air Deccan flight from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, carrying both Naidu and then Union minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy. The fire was contained before takeoff and all passengers were evacuated safely. In 2005, Naidu's helicopter made an emergency landing in Bihar's Gaya due to a technical failure. Minutes later, Naxals attacked and destroyed the grounded aircraft with a petrol bomb. Both he and the pilot escaped unhurt. Rupani's death is likely to reignite urgent debate on the protocols and preparedness surrounding the air travel of India's top political leaders.

Air-raid sirens in Israel; Iran armed forces chief of staff 'likely eliminated': 10 things to know about 'Operation Rising Lion'

Israel attacked Iran (Image Credit: AP) Israel launched a "preemptive strike" on Iran, targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites. The Iranian state-run news agency acknowledged the explosions. Air-raid sirens preventatively rang out in Israel. The strikes occurred amid heightened tensions regarding Iran's nuclear programme. The International Atomic Energy Agency's Board of Governors issued its first censure against Iran in 20 years on Thursday. Iran responded by announcing plans for a third enrichment facility and upgrading its centrifuges. Israel maintains its stance against Iran developing nuclear weapons, while Tehran denies such intentions despite issuing contradictory statements. Here are the 10 things to know: Iran's chief of staff and key nuclear researchers killed According to Reuters, the primary report suggest a high probability that Israel's initial attack resulted in casualties among Iran's top military leadership, including the chief of staff and key nuclear researchers, according to an Israeli security official. The assessment indicates significant impact on Iran's senior military command structure and nuclear programme personnel. 'Targeted military operation rolls back Iran threat to Israel's very survival' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated via YouTube that Israel conducted "a targeted military operation roll back the Iranian threat to Israel's very survival," indicating operations would persist until the threat subsides. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo He added that the attacks will continue 'for as many days at it takes to remove this threat.' Israel closes its airspace Israel implemented airspace restrictions anticipating Iranian retaliation. Defence minister issues warnings, declares state of emergency Defence minister Israel Katz issued warnings about potential missile and drone attacks, declaring an emergency situation requiring adherence to protective measures. 'In the wake of the state of Israel's preventive attack against Iran, missile and drone attacks against Israel and its civilian population are expected immediately,' he said in a statement. The statement added that Katz 'signed a special order declaring an emergency situation in the home front.' 'It is essential to listen to instructions from the home front command and authorities to stay in protected areas,' it said US denies involvement Secretary Rubio confirmed Israel's independent action, stating the US received prior notification of strikes deemed necessary for Israeli self-defence. He cautioned Iran against targeting US interests. In a statement, he said: 'Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region. Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense. President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel.' US Senator Reed condemns Israeli strike as dangerous escalation U.S. Senator Jack Reed, leading Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, criticised the Israeli strike as a dangerous action that could trigger regional conflict. "These strikes threaten not only the lives of innocent civilians but the stability of the entire Middle East and the safety of American citizens and forces," he said. Reed further stated: "I urge both nations to show immediate restraint, and I call on President Trump and our international partners to press for diplomatic de-escalation before this crisis spirals further out of control." Commercial aircraft navigate Iranian airspace during attack Numerous commercial aircraft were traversing Iranian airspace during the strikes, as evidenced by flight tracking data. After the Israeli strike commenced, some aircraft continued their routes through Iranian airspace, whilst others swiftly adjusted their flight paths to exit the region. Several countries had previously restricted their aircraft from flying over Iran due to ongoing regional tensions. Israeli Air Force targets strategic sites A senior Israeli military official, speaking anonymously, confirmed that Israel has conducted strikes on Iranian nuclear and military installations, though specific locations were not disclosed. During the operational briefing, the official outlined three primary concerns regarding Iran: They claim Iran is secretly developing nuclear weapons, despite US intelligence assessments indicating otherwise. Additionally, Iran's extensive ballistic missile arsenal and its distribution of weaponry to regional groups like Hezbollah and Hamas were cited as significant threats. Trump's activities during Tehran events During the Tehran explosions, Donald Trump was observed socialising with Congressional members on the White House lawn. He continued meeting and photographing with guests, though it was not clear whether he had been briefed about the situation. Earlier that day, Trump had commented that whilst an Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear facilities was not immediate, it remained a strong possibility. The US government had taken precautionary measures, including withdrawing diplomatic staff from Baghdad and offering evacuation options to US military families across the Middle East region. Oil prices surge over 6% as Israel strikes Iran After the Israel attacked Iran, the oil prices surged over six percent on Friday. West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the main US oil contract, was trading 6.3 percent higher at $72.29 per barrel, while Brent North Sea crude was up 5.7 percent at $73.29.
