SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – An exciting musical event supporting band students is set to take place on Saturday, May 3rd, at the Huntington High School gymnasium.
The Raider Jukebox Spring Band/Drumline Jamboree will welcome multiple bands from Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas.
Huntington Band Director Roderick Jefferson says the community support for this event allows them to have a successful band season.
Lady Raiders historic basketball championship win honored in Shreveport
'This helps us with all the necessities for traveling and mouthpieces, and reeds. We don't get a budget like the Texas schools get or the Mississippi schools. Our budget is our band fees and these events…and then it shows the kids that the community supports them,' says Jefferson.
Don't miss your chance to see these talented young students show off their band skills while also contributing to their overall band experience with Huntington High.
Doors open at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Tickets are now on sale for $10 online; they can also be purchased at the door for $15. Children 5 and under are free.

TEXARKANA, Tx. (KTAL/KMSS) — Grammy Award winner Kierra Sheard will perform live in concert in Texarkana. New businesses continuing to spur Downtown Texarkana's revival The gospel singer will be in the area for the Juneteenth Gospel Explosion event, which will feature Sheard alongside the Twin City Youth Choir. Sheard first gained recognition in 1997 when she was featured on her mother, Karen Clark Sheard's, solo album. Her mother is a member of the renowned American gospel vocal group The Clark Sisters. Kierra Sheard has received multiple awards, including Stellar and Dove Awards, Grammys, and multiple nominations. The Gospel Explosion will take place on Friday, June 6, at Lonoke Baptist Church, starting at 6:00 p.m. Doors will open an hour earlier. (KTAL/KMSS) – If you've been wanting to achieve a celebrity look this summer without the celebrity budget, this weekend might be the perfect opportunity to get started for native and celebrity personal trainer Kory Phillips will be in town this weekend to host King's Weekend, a celebration of Shreveport's Fitness Day. Known for training celebrities like Kai Cenat, Halle Bailey and many others 'the king of fitness' hopes to always keep fitness here right at home. Kai Cenat goes from King to Headmaster with launch of Streamer University, Louisiana native joins him According to Phillips, the day officially started in 2019 when then Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins proclaimed June 8, Shreveport Fitness Day, after attending the successful Weight No More 5k campaign and another Father's Day 5k on the same day. The Weight No More 5K was a benefit race dedicated to combating obesity. Founded by Toya Wright, a businesswoman and TV personality, along with her now husband, Robert 'Red' Rushing. The event aimed to raise awareness and support for this important issue. Kory, who was the couple's trainer, played a role in the race's organization. As part of a nationwide tour, the race traveled to several cities across the United States, with the Shreveport event taking place at Southern Hills Park. Join Kory and his team at Lovely Bodies Fitness this weekend for a two-day event designed to bring the city back together once again!
