According to NBA legend Charles Barkley, if Michael Jordan had continued playing, he would have topped all charts and would have been earning at least $100 million. That's the legacy Jordan had that cannot be compared to any other NBA sportsperson.
While Barkley was all in praise for Jordan, he feels players have had it easy, but most of them decide to sit out games, despite having good salaries and a supportive environment. He believes it should stop, and they should understand that they're lucky to have the facilities.

Barkley said, 'Well, he'd be the first hundred-million-dollar player. Well, first of all, we're gonna have guys making 70-80 million in three to four years, you know. Man, bless these guys as long as they appreciate how lucky they are and don't think they're making all that money because they're great players.'
Further, he said, 'They were just born at the right time. We got a bunch of great players, but man, these guys, I just hope they appreciate how lucky they are and stop this BS with load management.'
He added, 'I'm so old, we flew commercials and played back to back. And these guys got the best private planes, they got the best medical staff, they got these cold water plunges, they got these hyperbaric chambers, I mean, they got the best shoes, and they can't play basketball two days in a row for $50-60 million? That's the craziest stuff ever, man.'
Is Charles Barkley planning to retire soon?
Charles Barkley believes he'll be around for two more years, despite having seven extra years left in his contract. He said,"I said I'd work for two more years, and that's what I agreed to. And I'm going to have to trust them. But listen, if they start trying to work me too much between ESPN and TNT, I'm just going to walk home."
He added, 'Because, listen, I actually have seven years left on my contract. I'm like, yeah, there's no way I'm working seven years.
I said, I'm going to be a good soldier for Kenny, Ernie, and Shaq, and the people I work with, because I love the people I work with, especially behind the scenes."
Further, he said, "I said, but the best I can do is two years. And them other five years, they got no chance to happen. And so I said, you know what? I'll give y'all two years. They're like, can we get three? I said, I just told you I'm going to give you two."

Adam Silver says NBA will revive competitive edge with Team USA facing World team in 2026 All-Star

Adam Silver. Image via: Jeff Chiu/ AP In a major move to inject new life into the NBA All-Star Game, Commissioner Adam Silver has confirmed that the 2026 edition will feature a 'Team USA vs. Team World' format. The decision, designed to boost player motivation and fan engagement, marks a shift from recent attempts that failed to inspire competitive play. The game, set for February 15, 2026, in Inglewood, California, will be broadcast by NBC as part of the league's new media deal and scheduled to air in the afternoon to align with Winter Olympic programming. 2026 NBA All-Star Game to go global as Adam Silver greenlights United States versus World format Adam Silver defends NBA's Christmas Day tradition amid NFL challenges. (Imagn Images) Following years of experimenting with All-Star formats, from captain-led drafts to the recent four-team mini-tournament, the NBA is now embracing the league's international identity to bring back intensity. Commissioner Adam Silver confirmed on FS1's Breakfast Ball, 'Next year, as part of our new media deal, the All-Star Game returns to NBC where it was when we were younger, and it so happens that next season will be smack in the middle of the Winter Olympics. ' Silver further explained, 'The lead-in will be Winter Olympic events, and then coming out of the All-Star Game... more Olympic events. So what better time to feature some form of USA against the world?' While the format details are still being finalized, the commissioner admitted, 'I'm not exactly sure what the format will be yet. I obviously paid a lot of attention to what the NHL did, which was a huge success.' The 211–186 final score in 2024 showed the lack of effort. Even the introduction of mini-games and point targets couldn't raise the stakes. But now, Silver believes he's found the answer. 'Last summer, our Olympic competition was a huge success... USA, Serbia — I loved watching it.' This shift comes with challenges. While about 70% of NBA players are American, the top international talent is undeniable. The last seven MVPs have all been international players. Fans are hyped, imagining Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Victor Wembanyama, and Luka Doncic teaming up to challenge LeBron James , Stephen Curry, and Tyrese Haliburton. My opinion is that it's more purposeful,' said Wembanyama in February. 'There's more pride in it. More stakes.' Giannis echoed the sentiment: 'I think that would be the most interesting and most exciting format. I would love that... I think it would be fun. That would be the best format.' As Silver confirmed, fans might finally get a fiercely contested All-Star Game again.

Check the list of NBA Finals winners from the past 10 years

The NBA Finals can always be quite dramatic. From buzzer-beaters to dynasties and underdog stories, the last decade has had all of it. Whether you're a hardcore fan or someone who only tunes in for the Finals, here is a brief recap of who won the title over the last ten seasons. 2024 - Boston Celtics After years of nearly making it, they finally did it. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown lead Boston to a championship, and they beat the Dallas Mavericks in a long series. They brought home banner No. 18, breaking the tie with the Lakers for the most championships in NBA history. 2023 - Denver Nuggets Nikola Jokić proved once and for all that he is one of the game's greats. He put the NBA on notice during the Finals, leading the Nuggets to their first championship by beating the Miami Heat in five games. Denver fans waited a long time to enjoy that moment, and they absolutely did. Also Read: Who's most likely to win 2025 NBA Finals MVP? Here are key predictions 2022 - Golden State Warriors The Warriors let everyone know they were not done just yet. Steph Curry finally got his first Finals MVP performance as Golden State beat the Celtics in six games. This was their fourth title in the last eight years. 2021 - Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo had one of the best Finals performances in NBA history. He scored 50 points in Game 6 to clinch the title for Milwaukee, giving them their first title since 1971. "The Greek Freak" became an absolute legend that night. 2020 - Los Angeles Lakers During a pandemic in the bubble down in Orlando, LeBron James led the Lakers to another championship over the Miami Heat. It was an emotional moment for many reasons, not to mention the death of Kobe Bryant earlier that year. LeBron nabbed his fourth ring and third Finals MVP, with a different team this time. 2019 - Toronto Raptors The Raptors made history by winning their first-ever NBA title. Kawhi Leonard was a beast throughout the playoffs and literally carried Toronto past a banged-up Warriors team. Canada came out in a huge way for their team. 2018 - Golden State Warriors Golden State was still full-blown dynasty mode. They absolutely swept LeBron and Head Coach Ty Lue's Cavs, and Kevin Durant nabbed his second straight Finals MVP. At that point, they were pretty much unbeatable. 2017 - Golden State Warriors This was Kevin Durant's first title for the warriors. They rolled through the playoffs, losing one game total. They beat the Cavs 4-1 and boy did Durant make his presence felt. 2016 - Cleveland Cavaliers You already know. LeBron James led the Cavs to a 3–1 comeback to beat the Warriors. It was Cleveland's first championship ever, and that Game 7—Kyrie's shot, LeBron's block—will be remembered forever. 2015 - Golden State Warriors This is where it all started. Steph Curry led the Warriors to their first title in 40 years, and Andre Iguodala took home the Finals MVP for his defense on LeBron. This was the beginning of a new era.

'You'd celebrate this in the Super Bowl': Adam Silver praises NBA's bold shift from superteams as Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers chase first-ever title

Image via David Dow/ Getty Images With the 2025 NBA Finals tipping off Thursday night in Oklahoma City, a unique storyline has taken center stage — two small-market franchises are battling for the championship, and league commissioner Adam Silver is embracing the moment. The Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder aren't just unexpected contenders — they're a reflection of the NBA's shifting power structure. As the era of superteams fades, Silver believes this evolution was no accident but the result of purposeful changes made to level the playing field. Image viaAdam Silver praises NBA parity , says league's built for every team as small markets rise During a Wednesday appearance on Breakfast Ball , NBA commissioner Adam Silver addressed the league's evolving landscape, using the Pacers-Thunder Finals as a case study in what he calls intentional progress. 'If we were going into a Super Bowl and it was Packers vs. Steelers , you guys would celebrate that,' Silver said, drawing parallels between how fans perceive smaller NFL markets compared to the NBA. 'People wouldn't talk about Pittsburgh being a small market.' Image via X Silver's comments came just ahead of Game 1 between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers , two franchises chasing history. The Thunder are eyeing their first NBA title since moving from Seattle in 2008, while the Pacers are still searching for their first championship since joining the NBA after winning three ABA titles. 'When you look at where the league is today, the depth of competition, it's no coincidence,' Silver noted. 'It's been intentional to create a CBA that allows more teams to compete.' Over the past seven seasons, the NBA has crowned seven different champions, from first-time winners like the Toronto Raptors (2019) and Denver Nuggets (2023), to the Milwaukee Bucks breaking a 50-year drought in 2021, to dynasties like the Golden State Warriors (2022) and storied franchises like the Boston Celtics (2024) and Los Angeles Lakers (2020). Despite occasional chatter about potential ratings dips, Silver is optimistic. 'At the end of the day, we are a league of relatively small markets,' he said. 'The goal is to have a league where every team is in position to compete.' Image via X He pointed out that this spring's playoffs included the most-watched NBA game of the season, underscoring the league's robust health ahead of its new $76 billion media rights deal with Amazon, Disney, and Comcast. Also Read: LeBron James raves about Tyrese Haliburton ahead of Indiana Pacers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder Finals for first-ever NBA title As Oklahoma City and Indiana prepare for Game 1 of the Finals, Silver's message is clear: this matchup isn't a step back — it's a glimpse of the NBA's future. In that future, competitive balance isn't a hope — it's the plan. And with two small-market teams on the league's biggest stage, that plan looks like it's working.
