Delight for Travis Kelce as his Taylor Swift-named racehorse seals another huge win

Daily Mail5 hours ago

NFL star Travis Kelce won big for the first time as owner of racehorse Swift Delivery at the weekend.
The Kansas City Chiefs star bought a stake in the four-year-old last August, in partnership with owners Gary Barber, Team Valor International, Bruce Zoldan, and Steven Rocco.
And Swift Delivery, trained by Hall of Famer Mark Casse, clinched the third victory of its career - the first since Kelce came onboard - at Woodbine on Sunday.
The gelding swept to a two-length score in a second-level allowance contest at the Toronto track.
Kelce joined the ownership last summer just ahead of Swift Delivery's debut in the Toronto Cup, where he finished second.
After the news broke, many fans quickly joined the dots between the horse and the tight end's girlfriend Taylor Swift.
Swift Delivery wins for Team Valor and partners at Woodbine overnight. That makes it 9 wins from the last 17 starters for the stable. 🎉🔥

Many speculated over whether the horse was actually named after the popstar, and Kelce addressed the rumors during an episode of his New Heights podcast in September.
'I bought a horse, man! How about that? Old "Swift Delivery",' he said to brother Jason, before being asked if the name prompted the interest.
'You know when the stars align?,' Travis continued. 'It just feels good to jump on board.'
The NFL superstar was then asked how the purchase unfolded, with Kelce never having previously been involved in the world of horse-racing.
'You have really good friends that are good people, that are into horse racing,' he explained. 'Bruce and Alex Zoldan. I've known Alex for around 10 years plus now, since I've been in the league, fellow Ohio-an. They're an awesome family.
'I've had so much fun going to events with them, and sure enough they were at the Super Bowl, they invited me to the [Kentucky] Derby this year, and I was just like, "man it'd be fun to get involved and see one of your horses in a race, that seems like it'd be a fun thing to be a part of." They had a horse that won [the Derby] in the early 2000s, called Magic Kingdom.
'They asked me if I wanted to jump in on a three-year-old they had, and the name made sense to team up with this one, it being "Swift Delivery".
'What's cool is, it's a different style of horse, some make a fast start and try and lead the pack, and then the others are the finishers, the ones that come around the last turn or the last two turns...'I just got on board because it was fun and I could team up with some good friends of mine. I like the ran Swift Delivery ran, it's more of a finishing horse, hits its top speed [at the end] and saves its juice.'

Thunder parade championship trophy through OKC

June 24 - A shirtless Shai Gilgeous-Alexander toted the NBA Finals MVP trophy behind a parade float Tuesday, raising his left hand to the beat of chants of "MVP, MVP" from the crowd as Oklahoma City turned out in temperatures approaching triple-digits to celebrate the Thunder's first championship. Alexander, who began the day in a white tank with his Canadian flag shirt tied around his waist, carried the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy to the barricade so fans could touch the hardware. Accounting for humidity, the heat index at the peak of the parade was 101 degrees according to AccuWeather. Thick air didn't slow down the party for the Thunder or thousands of fans assembled for a celebration that started in Midtown on Tuesday morning. Defensive stopper Lu Dort and 7-footer Chet Holmgren showered attendees with champagne, first from the second level of the team's double-decker bus and later from the top of a golf cart. "It's very hot out here, so I'm going to keep this short and sweet," Jalen Williams said. "Without this, none of this is possible without you guys. You guys have been through the ups and downs of the Thunder organization. We appreciate you guys. We love you guys." Isaiah Hartenstein said he hadn't slept for 36 hours, unlike his young son, who was fast asleep in his father's arms in the immediate aftermath of the team's Game 7 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. "It's amazing. To experience it with the family, with the community, it's been really special," Hartenstein said. The celebration included a stage for the closing ceremony at Scissortail Park. Thunder fans packed close to the stage and again Gilgeous-Alexander entered the crowd, bringing the trophy through throngs of supporters for pictures and an up-close opportunity with the NBA's championship prize. Aaron Wiggins ignited the crowd with a brief speech that touched on humble beginnings as the 55th pick to a franchise that won 24 games during his rookie season. "There was a point where they tried to call us the black hole of the NBA," Wiggins said. "But four years later, when they mention the Thunder organization when they mention (owner) Clay Bennett, (general manager) Sam Presti, (head coach) Mark Daigneault and every single one of you in this arena, they've got to mention you as NBA champs. And that's it!" --Field Level Media

NBA Finals hero Shai Gilgeous-Alexander makes weary-eyed TV appearance after championship win

NBA Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has gone viral over his appearance on Good Morning America in the wake of the Thunder's Game 7 win over the Pacers. The Canadian led Oklahoma City to its first ever NBA Championship in the winner-takes-all clash against Indiana on Sunday night. Gilgeous-Alexander, who was named the NBA's Most Valuable Player for 2025 and then MVP for the Finals, appeared on TV the morning after the game. He was weary-eyed and appeared to be feeling the effects of the night before. 'It's everything I imagined it to be,' he said about the feeling of being an NBA champion. 'The opportunity has been amazing and I'm happy and blessed to be a part of it.' His demeanor prompted anchor Robin Roberts to ask if the NBA star had even been to sleep. 'You look a little sleepy,' she said. 'I got some rest, not as much as I would like but, hey, you only live once,' Gilgeous-Alexander responded with a smirk. SGA was on another planet on Good Morning America 😭 — Hoops (@HoopMixOnly) June 24, 2025 On Tuesday, with temperatures exceeding 90 degrees, Oklahoma City celebrated its first major professional sports title with a championship parade for the Thunder. The team defeated the Indiana Pacers in Sunday's Game 7 to clinch the NBA title - its first since arriving from Seattle in 2008. Gilgeous-Alexander, All-Star Jalen Williams and their teammates passed through downtown Oklahoma City for the event. Forward Chet Holmgren and backup center Branden Carlson each took the Larry O'Brien Trophy into the crowd at a few stops along the way, while teammate Jaylin Williams was seen slapping fives with some onlookers lining the streets. Isaiah Hartenstein also left his double-decker bus to mingle in the crowd during the parade. There was a heavy police presence in Oklahoma City, where one non-fatal shooting was reported in the aftermath of Sunday's Game 7 win.
