Justice for Medical Negligence: KD 45,000 Awarded by Kuwait Court
KUWAIT CITY, May 24: The Court of Appeals upheld the ruling of the Court of First Instance, which ordered the Ministry of Health to pay KD45,000 to a female citizen as final compensation for damages, disability, and bodily harm resulting from a medical error during childbirth at a government hospital. The plaintiff demanded compensation for the material and moral damages she suffered and for the disability (estimated at 20 percent of her total body capacity ) caused by medical errors during her delivery at the hospital.
Attorney Mishari Sulaiman Al-Marzouq, lawyer of the plaintiff, said the Medical Liability Authority report concluded that three doctors affiliated with the Ministry of Health committed medical and professional errors, with disciplinary sanctions imposed on them. Al-Marzouq explained that his client suffered material damages, including a longer stay in the hospital and the expense of purchasing medications and painkillers after her discharge. 'She also suffered a degree of disability and moral damages as a result of the significant reduction in her chances of becoming pregnant in the future. The medical reports concluded that the medical errors affected his client's uterus, causing disability and a partial loss of its function. The subsequent pregnancy will be extremely risky; hence, the need for compensation.'

47 primary health centers to stay open during ‘Eid'
KUWAIT CITY, June 5: The Ministry of Health has designated 47 primary healthcare centers to operate during the Eid Al-Adha holiday. These centers are located in the six governorates, including 22 centers that will operate 24 hours a day. The ministry announced that six centers will operate during the holiday in the Capital Health District, including four 24-hour centers: Ali Thunayan Al-Ghanim Center, Mirza Al-Ahqaqi Center, Hamad Al-Saqr Center and Jaber Health Center (2); while two centers will operate from 7:00 am to 12:00 midnight -- Munira Al-Ayyar Health Center and Abdullah Al- Abd Al-Hadi Center. In Hawally Governorate, the ministry designated six centers operating during the holiday -- Rumaithiya, Sabah Al-Salem, Salmiya, Salwa, West Hawally and Mahmoud Haidar. Four of these centers will operate round the clock and two are open from 7:00 am to 12:00 midnight. In Farwaniya Governorate, nine centers have been designated -- six of which will operate 24 hours a day and three are open from 7:00 am to 12:00 midnight. It has also designated 14 centers in Ahmadi Governorate, all of which will operate 24 hours a day during the holiday. In Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, the ministry has designated five centers -- three of which will operate 24 hours a day and two will be open from 7:00 am to 12:00 midnight. In Jahra Governorate, seven centers will operate during the holiday -- five will operate 24 hours a day, while the Southern Sulaibiya Center will operate from 7:00 am to 12:00 midnight; and the Kabad Center will operate from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

KUWAIT: Kuwaiti environmentalist and photographer Dr Abdullah Al-Zaidan has successfully observed and documented the rare natural phenomenon of Al-Hala Island, located in the southern part of Kuwaiti waters, specifically in the Al-Zour area. The island is a stunning and unusual natural feature. Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Tuesday, Al-Zaidan explained that Al-Hala is a temporary sandbar that emerges during low tide and completely disappears during high tide. Its unique nature makes it a favored destination for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility. He added that the island's transformation is a key attraction, making it a prime spot for environmental marine tourism. Visitors are drawn to this nontraditional experience amid the clear waters of the Gulf, where they can engage with untouched nature far from pollution and urban development. ‘Eid prayer does not exempt people from Friday prayers'
KUWAIT CITY, June 4: The Assistant Undersecretary for the Fatwa and Sharia Research Sector at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs has clarified the religious opinion regarding the Friday (Jumu'ah) prayer when Eid coincides with a Friday, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In an official statement, he explained that, according to the majority of Islamic jurists, performing the Eid prayer does not exempt Muslims from the obligation of attending the Friday prayer. The Friday prayer must still be performed at its designated time. Some jurists hold the view that those who have already performed the Eid prayer may forgo the Friday prayer and instead perform the regular Dhuhr prayer, based on reports that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did the same. If a person serves as an imam, he must lead the Friday prayer for those who attend the mosque. The Fatwa and Sharia Research Sector confirmed in a statement that the matter allows for flexibility, and both options are considered valid. Those who prefer ease may suffice with the Eid prayer and perform Dhuhr instead of Jumu'ah, while those who choose to observe both the Eid and Friday prayers out of caution are also acting correctly. Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Head of the Kuwaiti Hajj Mission Dr. Bader Al-Mutairi announced that all 8,000 Kuwaiti pilgrims, organized into 60 groups, have safely arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Dr. Al-Mutairi confirmed that mission teams from various participating agencies are working tirelessly at the holy sites to ensure the highest levels of comfort, safety, and care for Kuwaiti pilgrims. He stated that preparations at Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah were completed well in advance, which reflects the mission's dedication to providing an organized and secure environment.
