Soul Beach Music Festival Will Return to St. Maarten Next Week After 30 Years

SIMPSON BAY, St. Maarten--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 19, 2025--
The St. Maarten Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport & Telecommunications (TEATT), Port St. Maarten Group and Princess Juliana International Airport are proud to welcome Soul Beach Music Festival back to St. Maarten next week, decades after its inception on the island . The iconic Soul Beach Music Festival is returning to its roots May 21-26, to celebrate its 23rd anniversary with performances by award-winning artists including Charlie Wilson, Muni Long, Cedric the Entertainer and more.
Soul Beach Music Festival originated in St. Maarten as Sinbad Soul Music Festival in 1995 - as an HBO special - before relocating to Miami and then Aruba. Since then, the festival has evolved into a multi-day experience, bringing together residents and visitors for a vibrant celebration of culture and entertainment with iconic artists performances throughout the years, including Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Usher and Earth, Wind & Fire.
By returning to its native soil in this full-circle moment, Soul Beach Music Festival's goal is to support the island's local economy by encouraging visitors to explore the wonders of St. Maarten. With venues spread across the island, festival goers will get a taste of St. Maarten's vibrant soul, from its pristine beaches, world-class cuisine, and blend of immersive experiences. Mark Adkins, CEO and executive producer of Soul Beach Festival, said, 'This year is both a nostalgic tribute to our past and an inspiring glimpse into the future for our many newbies, fueled by the energy that is St. Maarten.'
'The return of the Soul Beach Music Festival is a significant milestone for St. Maarten, reinforcing our island's status as a premier destination. What began with about 60% room capacity has now grown to 85–100% occupancy island-wide — a clear sign that we've not only revived the festival, but elevated it. This event boosts economic growth, supports local businesses, and brings together visitors and residents for a safe, vibrant celebration of culture and entertainment. Hosting Soul Beach so many years after its inception right here in St. Maarten is both nostalgic and meaningful — and I am proud to say: mission accomplished,' said Grisha Heyliger-Marten, Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication.
Additional sponsors for the festival include Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, Oceans at Divi Little Bay, JW Marriott St. Maarten Beach Resort & Spa, Sonesta Maho Beach Resort Casino & Spa, Sonesta Ocean Point Resort, Simpson Bay Resort Marina & Spa, The Morgan Resort & Spa, Oyster Bay Beach Resort, Jennifer's Vacation Rentals and Hertz.

Creed's Massive Single Returns — And Becomes A Surprise Dance Win In The Process

The song 'One Last Breath' helped Creed rise to the next level decades ago, when it first became a worldwide hit. Many years later, the track remains one of the rock band's most familiar, and these days, it seems like it may have even outpaced every other entry in its discography as perhaps its most successful — or at least its longest-charting. The tune returns to multiple Billboard charts this week and also debuts on several other rankings that Creed is largely unfamiliar with in another form, thanks to an inventive reworking. 'One Last Breath' currently appears on a trio of Billboard charts in the United States, after living on just one of them a few days ago, as it has become both a top streamer and a bestseller once more. Creed's cut breaks back into the top 10 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart, reentering at No. 9. At the same time, it lands in last place on the Alternative Streaming Songs chart, at No. 25, after not quite performing well enough just a few days ago to appear on Billboard's ranking of the most played alternative cuts on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. The same Creed smash can also be found once again on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. In that case, it doesn't need to return. Instead, it almost recaptures the throne, pushing from No. 6 to No. 2 and coming within striking distance of the top spot, where it has already spent some time. 'One Last Breath' may be surging in popularity again thanks to a remix — or perhaps it's a cover — that has become a hit on some Billboard lists that are largely foreign to Creed. The production act ATLiens debuts its remix of 'One Last Breath' on both the Dance Digital Song Sales and Hot Dance/Electronic Songs charts this week. The tune, which doesn't actually credit Creed at all, is essentially just a dancified reworking of the early rock win. The inventive tune opens in the runner-up space on the purchase-only tally, behind 'Abracadabra' by Lady Gaga, which surges back to No. 1. At the same time, it starts at No. 17 on the all-encompassing list of the most consumed dance and electronic tracks throughout the U.S.

Green Day's Album Jumps More Than 2,000% In Sales

Green Day's Saviors reenters the Billboard charts as the deluxe edition sparks a 2,150% sales surge ... More while 'One-Eyed Bastard' rises to new radio highs. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JULY 26: Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day performs On ABC's "Good Morning America" at Rumsey Playfield, Central Park on July 26, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by) It's not unusual for major musical stars these days to release deluxe editions of their new albums fairly quickly after the standard versions arrive. Sometimes they wait months. In other instances, it's just weeks. It's even become common for big-name acts to try to boost their first-week opening numbers by adding additional tracks just days after dropping a release. Green Day bucked this rapidly escalating trend by making fans wait almost a year and a half between the release of Saviors and its newly-expanded deluxe edition. That strategy helps the band's full-length — its fourteenth overall — become a bestseller again and experience a huge surge in pure purchases. In the past tracking week in America, Luminate reports that Saviors sold 4,800 copies. Just days before, when fans were still anticipating the deluxe edition, it only managed to sell a little more than 200 CDs, cassettes, vinyl LPs, and digital downloads. From one frame to the next in the U.S. alone, Green Day's project saw its sales jump by just under 2,150%. That spike in renewed interest in Saviors brings the title back to a pair of Billboard rankings. The project reenters the Vinyl Albums tally at No. 8. It can also be found on the Top Album Sales chart, which isn't specific to any one genre or format, at No. 11. Saviors has already reached No. 1 on both the Top Album Sales and Vinyl Albums rankings. It has spent just six frames on the former and only four — just about a month — on the latter. Green Day's project was an immediate winner when it dropped in January 2024, and the group has been promoting it fairly steadily since. The original edition produced five singles, and two other promotional cuts have been shared from there, which are now powering the deluxe take. While fans may be primarily excited about the recently unveiled tracks on the deluxe edition of Saviors, such as 'Smash It Like Belushi' and 'Ballyhoo,' it's 'One-Eyed Bastard' from the standard tracklist that is gaining momentum at the moment. That cut pushes north on two of the three Billboard tallies on which it appears, reaching new peaks on both the Rock & Alternative Airplay and Alternative Airplay rankings, while it holds at its No. 17 high point on the Mainstream Rock Airplay roster.
