Tracking a Toasty Start to June
Wildfire smoke from Canada is still to blame for the milky looking sky. A lot of this smoke is further up in the atmosphere so is not impacting air quality at the surface. Toasty conditions will continue through sunset this evening. That 20% chance of rain is still holding strong as a small system will bring in minimal moisture. This system will be very scattered and not everyone will see rain this evening. However, those who do could have a couple of rumbles of thunder with this system. If participating in any outdoor activities this evening make sure to remember, 'When thunder roars go indoors.' Behind tonight we will remain dry Sunday and most of the day Monday as temperatures will climb to almost 90 degrees. Tuesday is when we enter a more active weather pattern. A low pressure system will bring in loads of moisture and rain chances starting late Monday night, and all day Tuesday. There is a potential that these storms are strong to severe as they enter a favorable environment to our west. As we get closer to Tuesday make sure you are keeping up to date with your Storm Tracker weather team for more information. After Tuesday rain chances will carry throughout the rest of the week and to start next weekend.

Harvey Weinstein's sex crimes retrial continues with closing arguments
Harvey Weinstein's sex crimes retrial in New York City will likely be handed to the jury on Wednesday morning, Judge Curtis Farber said Tuesday, shortly before closing arguments began. Weinstein, 73, was granted a new trial after the state's highest court overturned his 2020 conviction, saying the original judge allowed prejudicial testimony from alleged victims whose accusations were not part of the charges against him. The defense rested its case Tuesday without Weinstein taking the stand. His attorney, Arthur Aidala, said his client carefully weighed whether to testify and ultimately decided not to. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. Defense goes first during closing arguments After settling some administrative matters, Farber ordered the jury brought in around 11 a.m. He said closing arguments would likely take until the end of the day. Aidala asked jurors to use their common sense, as he broke down testimony from each of the three female accusers and pointed out instances where he claims they lied. He argued there was never any evidence of sexual assault and that anything that happened between his client and the accusers was consensual. The charges against Harvey Weinstein Weinstein is charged with raping actress Jessica Mann and forcing oral sex on production assistant Miriam Haley and model Kaja Sokola. During the six-week retrial, jurors heard testimony from all three accusers. Each gave emotional and graphic accounts of what they say they endured. Mann, now a 39-year-old cosmetologist and hairstylist who at one time had a consensual relationship with Weinstein, was the final accuser to testify. She claims Weinstein raped her at a New York hotel in 2013. Haley, a 48-year-old former production assistant, was the first accuser to testify. She says Weinstein forcibly performed oral sex on her when she went to his apartment in July 2006. Sokola, 39, alleges Weinstein forcibly performed oral sex on her at a Manhattan hotel in 2006 when she was 19 years old. Jurors also heard from Sokola's former roommate. An ex-aide who worked for Weinstein's production company also testified.

Laura Loomer meets with Vice President JD Vance at White House complex, sources say
Laura Loomer, the far-right activist who once posted a video claiming 9/11 was an 'inside job,' was back at the White House complex Tuesday morning, where she met privately with Vice President JD Vance, three sources familiar with the meeting tell CNN. The sources would not share the substance of the one-on-one closed-door meeting, which occurred in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, or what was discussed. Loomer did not meet with President Donald Trump and has since departed the White House complex, one of the sources said. After Loomer's last known visit to the White House in April, the White House fired several National Security Council staffers whom she labeled as disloyal. The administration also fired the director and deputy director of the National Security Agency. Loomer, who has a loyal online following, has been an influential figure in the Trump administration. She has a direct line to the president and has been known to influence personnel decisions, though she has not been able to secure a White House press credential. 'I do think there's a fear that I may ask questions about the loyalties of people in the White House,' she told CNN recently, 'and they fear me having a national and global microphone to ask those questions.' Loomer had publicly criticized then-national security adviser Michael Waltz before he was ousted from his position, accusing the former Florida congressman of making poor personnel choices. She weighed in more recently on the administration's move to withdraw Jared Isaacman as its nominee to be the next NASA administrator, touting Isaacman's professional accomplishments and questioning why the White House would not move forward on him. During the 2024 campaign, Trump's travels with Loomer on September 11 were illustrative of her influence with the then-candidate. But her proximity to Trump sparked some friction in part because she had previously posted a video claiming that the attack on the World Trade Center towers was an 'inside job.' Loomer told CNN at the time, 'I've never denied the fact that Islamic terrorists carried out the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In fact, the media calls me anti Muslim precisely for the reason that I spend so much time focusing on talking about the threats of Islamic terrorism in America.'
