Xabi Alonso will take charge of Real Madrid for the first time as the LaLiga giants being their Club World Cup campaign against Al-Hilal.
Alonso, after leaving Bayer Leverkusen, succeeded Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the domestic league season and it is straight down to work for the Spanish tactician.

Los Blancos - the most successful team in Club World Cup history with five titles - should be motivated following a disappointing final few months of the 2024/25 campaign where they finished runners-up to Barcelona, lost in the Copa del Rey final and were knocked out by Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final.
Their first game of the new-look competition is a Group H showdown against the most decorated club in Asia.
Al-Hilal will be out to underline the strength of the Saudi Pro League on the world stage having turned to Simone Inzaghi ahead of the tournament getting underway.
Date, kick-off time and venue
Real Madrid vs Al-Hilal is scheduled for a 8pm BST kick-off on Wednesday, 18 June, 2025.

The match will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens.

Real Madrid vs Al-Hilal team news
Real Madrid have been boosted by the return to training of Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, David Alaba, Eduardo Camavinga, Ferland Mendy and Antonio Rudiger following their injury problems.

Whilst all have been named in the Club World Cup squad, it remains to be seen who - if any - feature against Al-Hilal as Alonso will look to ease them back in.
That said, Endrick will not feature at all during the competition as a result of a hamstring injury sustained last month. However, Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold are expected to make their debuts after joining from Bournemouth and Liverpool respectively.
As for Al-Hilal, a tactical tweak is likely given Inzaghi's preference for a 3-5-2 formation. Joao Cancelo faces a race against the clock to prove his fitness after missing the final six games of the league season.
Ruben Neves is available, whilst ex-Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic will lead the line.

Real Madrid vs Al-Hilal prediction
With Real Madrid still adjusting to life under Xabi Alonso, we don't know what to expect. On the other hand, the same argument can be made for Al-Hilal given Inzaghi has been in the job for even less time.

Still, the Spanish giants have that extra quality in their squad and ultimately that will prove to be the difference in what should be an entertaining fixture.
Real Madrid to win, 4-2
Head to head (h2h) history and results
These two teams have met once previously, in the Club World Cup final back in 2022. Real Madrid came out on top in an eight-goal thriller with Vinicius Jr. and Federico Valverde scoring twice in a 5-3 win.
Real Madrid wins: 1

Bayern Munich set Club World Cup record with 10-0 thrashing of Auckland City

Bayern Munich put 10 goals past part-time Auckland City FC to record the biggest ever Club World Cup victory, including from the previous format. The German giants were 6-0 up by half time, before Jamal Musiala came off the bench to score a second-half hat-trick and the departing Thomas Muller took Bayern to double figures late on. Advertisement The Group B fixture was expected to be a huge mismatch, given the enormous gulf between the teams, with amateurs Auckland City the only non-professional side to be taking part in the inaugural 32-team Club World Cup. Watch every Fifa Club World Cup game free on DAZN. Sign up here now . Jamal Musiala scored a second-half hat-trick (Getty Images) While Auckland City have won the last four Oceania Champions League titles, and 11 of the last 13, the New Zealand club do not employ their players full time and many have had to take annual leave to travel to the United States. And while Auckland City have qualified for several other Club World Cup tournaments, their journey has usually come to an end in the first-round of the old format, and before playing either champions of Europe and South America. Advertisement But the new group stage means Auckland City are guaranteed to play three matches and, after their thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich, they will also face Benfica and Boca Juniors before travelling back to New Zealand. New Zealand does not have a professional men's football league, with the top two teams in the country - Wellington Phoenix and Auckland FC - playing their matches in Australia's A-League. But because Australia play in the Asian Football Confederation, both Wellington Phoenix and Auckland FC are ineligible to play in the Oceania Champions League, leaving Auckland City FC to dominate. The Navy Blues defeated Hekari United, of Papua New Guinea, to win their latest OFC Champions League title and qualify for the newly expanded Club World Cup tournament. Advertisement Staff from Auckland City also revealed that flying the squad out to the United States will cost the club more money than it makes in a year - but they will be rewarded by Club World Cup prize money. By contrast, five-time European champions Bayern Munich fielded a strong starting line-up that included Harry Kane and Michael Olise. The value Bayern's squad in transfer fees was estimated at £770m, around 700 times that of Auckland City's squad value of just over £1.2m. With that in mind, Auckland must have been fearing the worst when they trailed 6-0 at half time, but could not keep the scoreline to single-figures after Musiala resumed the scoring. The victory surpassed Al Hilal's 6-1 win over Al Jazira in 2021. You can sign up to DAZN to watch every Club World Cup game for free

Argentina legend backs Real Madrid new signing for success – ‘His future is very bright'

Argentina legend backs Real Madrid new signing for success – 'His future is very bright' Speaking to AS in an interview, Argentina legend and Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti has backed Real Madrid new signing Franco Mastantuono to enjoy a successful career. Real Madrid secured the signing of the 17-year-old wonderkid from River Plate earlier this month, in a deal worth €63.2 million – making it the most expensive transfer in Argentine football history. Advertisement Mastantuono is still with River Plate, participating at the FIFA Club World Cup and will be arriving in Madrid in August. Zanetti, whose Inter Milan are also in the tournament, along with Real Madrid, spoke highly of the teenage prodigy, saying: 'I'm happy for him. He now has a very important challenge. I'm sure he'll do well. He has a huge future.' Continuing, he added: 'Even though he's only 17, he plays with tremendous personality. That's what we've seen; it's not easy to put on the River Plate jersey and perform like he did. That personality will serve him well at Real Madrid.' Real Madrid's latest recruit. (Photo by) Advertisement On being asked if there were any similarities between Mastantuono and Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, the Inter Milan VP replied: 'I don't know… He's very talented, has a great shot, great vision… He's one of those players who can unbalance the opposing team from any part of the pitch. 'Like I said, his future is very bright. I wish him the best, from the bottom of my heart, and hope he has a great career.' Talking about the FIFA Club World Cup itself, Zanetti stated that he would like it if Inter Milan and Real Madrid face off in the finals, saying: 'A final between Inter and Madrid would be nice, yes (laughs).' On who he thought were the favourites for the tournament, Zanetti named Real Madrid and PSG, who beat Inter in the UEFA Champions League final a few weeks ago. 'Today I see PSG and Real Madrid, they are doing very well,' he replied.
