Birmingham Zoo to host Valentine's weekend event
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Birmingham Zoo will be hosting a new event on Valentine's Day weekend.
'Passionate About Primates' will take place in the zoo's primate building from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
'Enjoy complimentary drinks, passed hors d'oeuvres, music, and sweet treats as you mingle and learn about our fascinating primates during keeper chats,' the Birmingham Zoo said in a statement about the event. 'Stroll along at your own pace and take fun photos along the way. Don't miss this unique opportunity to celebrate with your loved ones (or friends!) and the chance to get up close to some of our primate residents!'

Tickets to the event are $40 for zoo members and $50 for non-members.
Tickets can be purchased on the zoo's website. The deadline to buy tickets is Wednesday.

Palisades Hosting Group Elopement To Open New Wedding Venue
Looking to exchange vows in a high alpine environment?On Sunday, July 27, 2025 Palisades Tahoe, California, is debuting its new wedding ceremony venue, the Alpine Landing, by hosting a group elopement ceremony, either for couples who haven't yet married or are just looking to renew their vows. Participants in the ceremony will be the first to say their vows at the event, fittingly titled Alpine Ever After, starts at 4:00 p.m. and is followed by a reception from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. 'We created Alpine Ever After for couples who want something beautiful, stress-free, and truly memorable,' said Marlena Freitas, Palisades Tahoe's director of sales. Couples can bring up to four guests, who will pay $125 each. Chicopee holds annual Pride Flag-raising supporting LGBTQ+ community
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – It's Pride Month, and local and state officials are showing their support for the LGBTQ+ community. Springfield holds fourth annual Pride Parade A pride flag-raising was held in downtown Chicopee Friday afternoon. The LGBTQ+ community says Pride Month brings visibility, and the city of Chicopee has done just that by raising the pride flag each year since 2016. 'We're proud and we're thankful that we live in a city, and a state, a Commonwealth, that is as protected as it is,' said Ray Hoess-Brooks of Chicopee. Chicopee is hosting its Pride Festival on Saturday at Szot Park at noon. More Pride events will be held in western Mass. throughout the month and can be found here.
