Caerwys: Lakeside home worth £2.6 million for sale
Refined Properties have listed the four-bedroom home at Afonwen, near Caerwys, for a price of £2,600,000.
'Plas Cambria' has been 'beautifully designed' by its past owners, according to the estate agents who have hailed it as 'an exceptional family home'.
What truly sets this property apart from the rest is its wonderfully idyllic lakeside setting.
Additionally, it incorporates beautiful gardens, vast swathes of woodland and an 18-acre lake, all set in around 85 acres of stunning grounds.
Refined Properties say: "The house itself is surrounded on three sides by the forest and overlooks the lake and hills beyond; its difficult to imagine there's anywhere more beautiful.
"The property was completely re-built by previous owners who wanted to keep the original style that blends in beautifully with these gorgeous surroundings but has the benefits of a modern home.
"It has been designed to take full advantage of the lakeside setting. The main residence and Boat house with its own lake and woodlands enjoys complete seclusion amidst enchanting scenery in a sheltered valley at the foot of the Clwydian Hills."
Upon entering the property into the hall, you are greeted with a light and spacious feel.
With pine flooring and a custom-made pitch pine turned staircase with curved balustrade leading to the first-floor accommodation and gallery landing.
From the hall you will access the ground floor accommodation starting with the grand dining room.
This delightful room is entered through double doors which are cert-metric to the house entrance and the French doors that lead onto the garden inspired by Charles Mackintosh.
The kitchen/breakfast room is the heart of the house and flows nicely into a dining room with French doors onto the garden. The kitchen has been designed around a centre island with seating area and over-looks the garden.
Further accommodation to the ground floor includes a cloakroom, boot room, access to the large double garage, sizeable lounge with open fire and stone surround with views to the lake, a beautifully handcrafted Neville Johnson study which is perfectly designed to take in the views of the garden.

Accessed through the sunroom is the heated swimming pool which measures 11mx5m and has underwater lighting.
There is a six-seater hot tub and door leading to a steam room, as well as a large storage cupboard and plant room.
A spiral staircase takes you to a large room which is used as a gym by the present owners.
To the first-floor accommodation you can find fantastic living quarters, with a large family bathroom, five bedrooms three of which offer En-suite facilities and the master bedroom also has walk in his and her dressing room and a study.
Externally, the property sits in a magnificent position overlooking the lake and woodland beyond.
There is a covered seating area with lighting and barbecue area, as well as an artificial putting green for any keen golfers.
Steps down lead to a stunning Hartley Botanical Greenhouse and the grounds have been beautifully landscaped.
Refined Properties say: "This is a opportunity to live in this little slice of paradise, which is so far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
"The lake has been restored and is teaming with life, the woodland has been managed with the help of the Wildlife Trust - and that too is an absolute haven for wildlife, there is a private footpath right the way around the lake.
"It's truly idyllic and every day you spend there will be an absolute joy."
The final part of the The Fisheries is the Boat House.
Slightly set away from the main residence, this property was completely rebuilt in 2018 whilst still retaining the original look.
It offers an open plan kitchen/breakfast room and lounge with twin French doors leading onto balcony. Stairs lead down to a double bedroom and bathroom.

Zoe Sugg and fiancé Alfie Deyes have shared their lives online for over a decade, with their incredible family home often providing the backdrop for their videos. The YouTube star, also known as Zoella, moved into the property with Alfie back in 2017 and has since been sharing glimpses of the stunning mansion online. Zoe, 34, often treats viewers to afternoons in her sprawling garden, banana bread baking in a white-tiled kitchen perfect for those pristine Insta shots, and a look inside her very organised pantry. Zoe and Alfie, who are parents to daughter Ottilie Rue, three, and Novie Nell, who turns two in December, are the proud owners of a seven-bedroom home which screams Instagram influencer with its chic interior, fresh flowers and bright and airy colours. The Sussex mansion, which was listed on Zoopla for £1,749,000 in June 2017, features four bathrooms, five reception rooms and a sprawling landscaped garden – which Alfie has overhauled with an incredible vegetable patch and greenhouse. The FCA does not regulate most Buy to Let mortgages. Your home or property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage. The couple are growing everything from tomatoes to cucumbers and sweet peas, with Zoe enlisting the help of her mum Tracey to create seedling trays in their greenhouse. The garden even features an incredible playground for the children complete with swings and climbing frames. As well as a high-end kitchen complete with a separate (very organised) pantry, Zoe has shared glimpses of a coffee bar, a bright orange Aga oven, and sliding French doors leading out to their sprawling garden. Known for spending plenty of time in the kitchen, the influencer and sister of Joe Sugg is the proud owner of only the best household appliances, including a very trendy copper KitchenAid and Nespresso machine. The bathroom is one of our favourites, with its huge chrome tub and bath rack to hold those all important scented candles, cups of tea, and a good read. Speaking of books, she even has a very impressive collection of her books on her shelves, as well as a stunning fire to sit by to read them in one of her living rooms and a flat screen TV up on the wall in case she favours a Netflix binge instead. From vintage record players and telephones to photo prints and house plants, Zoe sure knows how to dress up a room. And it sounds like there's nothing she likes more than 'cosy' days inside her plush pad. She told fans: 'Cosy Sunday with the storm blowing around outside! About to crack on with the pantry organising and I am sadly very excited about it.' Zoe and her fellow YouTube star partner Alfie have been living in their incredible home since 2017 and at the time they moved in, Zoe had shared a vlog with fans on her YouTube channel. She revealed: 'We've been packing since February. We decided to do it ourselves – don't do that. It takes so long it consumes your life. 'We've still being trying to do other things and pack but it's been very difficult – that is why there's been a lull in the old vlogs.' More Trending Vloggers Zoe and Alfie began dating in 2012, having met through YouTube. Now dubbed Zalfie, the pair started off as friends and would often film videos together along with the rest of the 'Brit Crew', which included Zoe's brother Joe Sugg, Marcus Butler, Louise Pentland, Jim Chapman, and more. After 10 years together, the pair got engaged in 2023 on a romantic getaway to Greece. Sharing the happy news at the time, Zoe was seen brandishing her brand new diamond ring in a sweet black and white video. Got a story? Chepstow cheese shop says youths still into 'stinky' cheeses
The Chepstow Garden Centre grocer said they were surprised by reports that French cheese makers are reporting that young French people are pooh-poohing traditional smelly cheeses in favour of more bland products. It has been widely reported that sales are particularly falling among French Generation Z consumers. The young French are apparently becoming more attracted to milder cheeses. Shop supervisor James Bailey said: 'As for France, it's probably down to increasing popularity of yukky plastic-style burger cheese. "However, we've had no problem and 'stinky' cheeses remain popular with our young customers. "Our best pungent offering has got to be Stinking Bishop,'added cheese fan James. The French research, conducted by the Académie Phormos, has caused alarm among traditional French cheesemakers. Local cheesemakers should have no fear about youngsters wafting away the cheese plate, James assures us.
