More Than 10,000 Cans of Coca-Cola Have Been Recalled

Attention, Coca-Cola drinkers! You may need to check your fridge ASAP. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) just classified a recall on more than 10,000 cans of Original Coca-Cola for potential contamination from foreign material (which, in this case, is plastic). The recall was first initiated on March 6, 2025, by a manufacturer of the classic soda, but it wasn't until March 24 that the FDA officially dubbed it a 'Class II' recall.
Unlike more serious Class I food recalls that can cause serious health issues and even death, a Class II recall means that drinking cans of potentially contaminated Coke can cause short-term, or 'temporary' and 'reversible' health issues. On the bright side, no lives are at risk from this recall — but definitely check the cans you have on hand, because you're better safe than sorry.
If you have cans of Original Coca-Cola in your fridge or pantry, checking to see if they're included in the recall is easy-peasy. Look on the box to see if it contains any of the following info:

To date, no other types of Coca-Cola products or any other cans have been included in the recall, so if you're a Diet Coke or other type of soda drinker, you don't have to worry.
There's a good chance that most recalled cans were pulled from grocery store shelves long before you had a chance to put them in your shopping cart, because the initial recall was issued in early March. But if you discover any recalled cans lurking in your house, don't drink them — either throw them away or return them to the store where you bought them for a refund or replacement. No beverage, no matter how refreshing, is worth potentially drinking plastic. Because, eww.
