Thailand warns travellers of fake Digital Arrival Card website charging US$10 for free entry form
BANGKOK, May 1 — Thai authorities have issued a warning about a fraudulent website imitating the newly launched Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) portal for foreign travellers.
The fake site, which claims to represent an official third-party service provider, asks users to pay a processing fee of US$10 (RM43) even though the real service is free, the Bangkok Post reported.
The TDAC, which came into effect today, replaces the traditional paper TM6 form and is now required for all foreign nationals entering Thailand by air, sea or land.
'The system is fully ready, and backup measures are in place to ensure smooth operations,' said the Ministry of Tourism and Sports in a statement.
'During the initial phase, travellers who encounter any issues can temporarily use a paper immigration form,' the ministry added.
Travellers must fill out their details on the official TDAC website and will receive a confirmation email to present upon arrival.
The Immigration Bureau has also clarified confusion about the application timeline.
Applications can be submitted up to three days before arrival but not earlier, contrary to earlier reports suggesting they had to be filed at least three days in advance.
Computer terminals are available at Suvarnabhumi Airport's Immigration area for travellers who need to complete the TDAC on arrival.

China expands visa-free access to five Latin American countries.
China on June 1 began implementing a trial policy that unilaterally grants visa-free entry to citizens of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay. It is the first time that China has extended such access to nations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Under the policy, which will remain in effect through May 31, 2026, holders of ordinary passports from these five countries can enter China without a visa for up to 30 days for purposes including business, tourism, family visits, cultural exchange and transit. The move is part of China's broader efforts to expand visa-free access in line with its commitment to high-level opening up. With this expansion, China now offers unilateral visa-free entry to 43 countries. Once made difficult by distance and complex visa procedures, travel between Latin America and China is increasingly accessible thanks to improved air connectivity and relaxed entry policies. In 2024, a direct flight was launched between Mexico City and south China's Shenzhen, spanning a distance of over 14,000km to become China's longest direct international passenger route. Other routes, such as the Beijing-Sao Paulo, Brazil (via Madrid, Spain), Beijing-Havana, Cuba (via Madrid) and Beijing-Tijuana-Mexico City routes, have also strengthened links between China and Latin America and the Caribbean. Beijing airports see surging tax refunds for overseas travellers
The terminal building of the Beijing Daxing International Airport in Beijing. - Xinhua BEIJING: In the first five months of this year, the customs of two major airports in Beijing processed departure tax refund applications for overseas travellers totalling approximately 478 million yuan (about US$66.52 million), up 91.61 per cent year-on-year, setting a new record high for the same period in history, according to Beijing Customs. From January to May 2025, the customs of Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport handled a total of 12,180 departure tax refund applications from overseas visitors, marking a year-on-year increase of 147.01 per cent. During the same period, the customs of Beijing Daxing International Airport processed departure tax refund applications for outbound travellers totalling over 72.37 million yuan, achieving nearly 200-per cent growth year-on-year. The 240-hour visa-free transit policy has significantly boosted the number of foreigners visiting China, the municipal customs said. As China continues to optimise its tax refund policy for overseas tourists, the potential for inbound tourism consumption is being fully realised. During the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the number of tax refund applications processed at the two Beijing airports surged by 263.81 per cent year-on-year, while the total refund amount increased by 130.59 per cent compared to the same period last year, data from Beijing Customs shows. The customs of Beijing Capital International Airport now has multiple tax refund counters in departure areas, which has helped streamline processing amid rising demand.
