While we won't be getting The Real Housecardinals of the Vatican City on Bravo anytime soon—though Andy Cohen is something of a divine power in and of himself—there's plenty more Catholic ephemera to enjoy. I'm both Irish and Italian, so alongside my Catholic guilt, internalized shame, and penchant for grandiosity comes a cultural diet that would satiate anyone who found themselves enraptured by the conclave. Through reporting on several stories about nuns and people of faith, however, I've also gathered a few monastic-approved recommendations.
One young nun from Wexford, Ireland—who, when I met her, had just turned 32 and was about to receive her first solemn vows—told me about the documentary that first inspired her to explore convent life. She had seen it with a friend who was recently dumped, and wanted to watch something 'that absolutely involved no men or romance.' She also spoke to me about her love for Patrick Kavanagh's poetry.

UK's first KFC marks 60th birthday celebrations
Celebrations have taken place to mark 60 years since the first KFC fast food restaurant opened in a UK high street. The famous fried chicken chain marked its diamond anniversary with a pop-up event in Preston's Flag Market featuring memorabilia, a history film and a range of local food producers. Roz Eccles, current assistant manager of the restaurant in the city's Fishergate, said: "It was opened in 1965 by Colonel Sanders himself. It's amazing to know it started here in Preston when you've got all those other big cities out there." She added: "It has come through a lot of changes over the years the way KFC has expanded." Rob Swain, general manager for KFC UK & Ireland, said: "Preston is where British fried chicken history began." The chain now wanted to thank the people of Preston for "playing such an important role in our growth story this side of the pond", he said. The celebrations also featured an immersive exhibition and pop-up cinema where six decades of the brand's history were remembered. It showed original KFC menus and uniforms, a range of the chain's nostalgic advertising campaigns and other memorabilia tracing the restaurant's journey from its roots in Kentucky to its first restaurant in Preston. Colonel Harland Sanders was an entrepreneur who began selling fried chicken from his roadside restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, during the Great Depression. UK businessmen Harry Latham and Raymond Allen then worked under the supervision of their friend the colonel to bring the franchise to the UK. Allen was said to have possessed a handwritten copy of the restaurant's secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices, which it has declined to make public to this day. Hozier's First No. 1 Mounts A Big Comeback As A Sudden Bestseller
For many years, Hozier's career was defined by one hit single, 'Take Me to Church.' The breakout hit introduced the Irish singer-songwriter to the general public back in 2013, and it became a global sensation. In the years since, Hozier has released several successful albums, but no tune managed to match the popularity of the track that started it all— a t least, not until 2024. Last spring, 'Too Sweet' arrived and instantly became yet another worldwide phenomenon. In the year-plus since it dropped, the Hozier cut has, in many ways, outperformed its predecessor. This week, it even manages to bolt back onto several Billboard rankings, as listeners in the United States can't seem to get enough of the track. This frame, 'Too Sweet' performs especially well in terms of pure purchases, as the single returns to a pair of purchase-only tallies. 'Too Sweet' reenters the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart at No. 10. It's also back on the Rock Digital Song Sales ranking at No. 15. The cut had previously dominated both lists and spent at least 60 weeks on the two rankings. 'Too Sweet' isn't only a bestseller. The track also returns to Billboard's Streaming Songs chart. Notably, while Hozier's cut only appears on genre-specific sales rankings, it manages to find a home on the all-style, all-encompassing Streaming Songs list. The track has spent 48 weeks on that roster, and has already reached the summit. 'Too Sweet' manages to find space on more than half a dozen other Billboard lists this frame. It does appear on the global charts, but performs best in the United States. The smash lives inside the top five on several other lists, such as the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs (No. 2), Hot Rock Songs (No. 1), and Hot Alternative Songs (No. 2) charts. 'Too Sweet' is not Hozier's only charting success in the U.S. at the moment. 'Take Me to Church' holds at No. 20 on the Alternative Streaming Songs ranking.
