Inside The Mysterious Shakespeare Ranch In Lake Tahoe Listed For $188 Million

One of the most spectacular destinations in the world, this large alpine lake in the Sierra Nevada mountains bordering California and Nevada has become one of the most popular billionaire destinations fueled by money from the San Francisco Bay Area, as tech titans have reshaped the real estate market.
And when a major listing hits the market, all eyes are on which famous name will be the next magnate to join Billionaire Row. Eclipsing the recent record-breaking sale of the former Steve Wynn estate for $62 million, the $188 million Shakespeare Ranch will certainly break all current records. Perhaps billionaire Mark Zuckerberg is keeping an envious eye on the listing from his ever-growing 10-acre compound on the opposite side of the lake.
After being on the market for a short period of time, the wealthy property owners have expanded the listing by adding the iconic barn, rodeo arena, and additional lakefront offerings, which can be sold in part or together for the entire extensive property.
Rodeo arena at Shakespeare Ranch
Most longtime Lake Tahoe residents, including myself, have never even heard of Shakespeare Ranch, located in the super exclusive, heavily guarded, and triple-gated Glenbrook community on the East side of the Lake.
The exclusive historic 130-acre property offers 17 luxury residences, a 465-foot pier, a 151-year-old barn, and a rodeo arena. Presidents, celebrities, and musicians have visited the ranch through the years, which has hosted the annual Glenbrook Rodeo for over 80 years, yet most people have never seen the property.
Waters Edge property
The current owner is Larry Ruvo, head of the largest wholesale importer and distributor of wine, beer, and liquor. Ruvo originally built many of the buildings in a New England-inspired architecture style, along with a Shakespeare dedication named after a nearby rock formation that locals once believed bore the face of Shakespeare.
Susan Lowe, President and Co-Listing Agent with Chase International, tells me, 'The residents of Glenbrook appreciate the seclusion and close-knit community. They value the luxury of its long, sandy, private beaches, meticulously maintained grounds, and elegant homes. Adding to its appeal are expansive views of the Lake, the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, and the iconic Shakespeare Rock monolith, the backdrop for this awe-inspiring hamlet. Currently, no other land holding on the shores of Lake Tahoe can be created in the image of the historic Shakespeare Ranch.'

The 5,111-square-foot barn was built in 1873 and has been renovated into an entertainment space with a kitchen, game room, bar, and wine room. There is also an art loft, spa, gym, indoor pool house with a fireplace inside, stables, and grazing meadows.
The property offers year-round boat access to the water and includes one of the longest piers on the Lake with two boat lifts, 12 private buoys, and an indoor boat house in the Tahoe City Marina.

Among the 17 luxury homes, a 4,290-square-foot lakefront home with a waterside cabana and a new 7,713-square-foot Marc Appleton-designed residence with a waterside cabana are currently under construction. Two additional lakefront properties with cabins and further plans for lakeside cabanas, which can be purchased individually or combined, are also under construction.

Celtics' Unexpected Kristaps Porzingis Plan Amid Trade Rumors

Celtics' Unexpected Kristaps Porzingis Plan Amid Trade Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Boston Celtics could undergo a significant roster overhaul this offseason. Being over the NBA's second tax apron, several of their players on the current roster will likely not be available for the 2025-26 season. Among them is Kristaps Porzingis. Advertisement Because Porzingis is owed $30.7 million for this upcoming season, trading him could help them accomplish their primary offseason goal. Despite his issues with staying on the floor, he may interest trade partners because his contract will expire in 2026. In the last two years, Boston has seen how good they are when Porzingis is on the floor, but he has shown his availability can fluctuate. That makes him an easy trade candidate. Boston Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis© Eric Canha-Imagn Images However, that could also play into why the Celtics may want to keep him. On The Kevin O'Connor Show, Chris Mannix revealed that while Porzingis is on the block, he believes the Celtics would actually prefer things go a different way with him. Advertisement "Porzingis, I think, is available, but I think they would like to get Porzingis back long-term at a lower price point on his next deal," Mannix said. Given much of the reporting in recent weeks about Porzingis' availability on the trade market, Boston eyeing a potential new deal comes as a bit of a surprise. That said, health issues could help the Celtics keep him on the team at a much steeper discount than what he's been paid for the last two seasons in Boston. If the plan is to keep him around, that could have implications for the future of Jrue Holiday, Sam Hauser, and maybe even Payton Pritchard in Boston. If the plan is to keep Porzingis, they'll likely have to trade at least two of those three players to get under the NBA's second tax apron. Porsche Drops Truth Bomb on U.S. Production Plans Amid Tariff Negotiations

Porsche has dismissed a Bloomberg report stating that the automaker is considering moving some of its final assembly to the U.S. to ease tariff impacts. The initial report referenced Porsche possibly installing interior components or fitting tires in the U.S., where it currently has no production presence. Instead, Porsche restated its stance from April that U.S. production localization doesn't make financial sense due to its relatively low sales volume. In April, Porsche CFO Jochen Breckner added that U.S. localization wouldn't occur even if the automaker partnered with another brand from its parent company, Volkswagen Group. Still, Volkswagen Group is seriously considering expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint with another one of its subsidiaries, Audi. An Audi spokesperson reportedly told Automotive News "We want to increase our presence in the U.S.," while adding that the company is confident it'll finalize specific details with Volkswagen Group by the year's end. Volkswagen currently operates one U.S. plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and its competitors, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, have factories in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, respectively. Porsche's problems in 2025 aren't limited to U.S. tariffs. During Q1, the brand's sales fell 42% in China. Four years ago, Porsche achieved its highest annual sales in China, at 95,671. Chinese consumers are gravitating away from Porsche and turning to newer companies like Xiaomi and BYD's high-end Yangwang brand. Xiaomi's first model, the electric SU7 sport sedan, thrived in China with its Porsche-inspired styling available at a lower price. The $72,591 Xiaomi SU7 Ultra variant with 1,548 horsepower received about 10,000 pre-orders in two hours, slightly exceeding Porsche's Q1 China sales this year. Porsche CEO Oliver Blume said, "We don't care about the volume," and that the company was more concerned with keeping its prices at a high level, "appropriate for Porsche," Reuters reports. However, Blume also told Porsche investors at the company's annual conference on May 21: "Our market in China has literally collapsed," according to The New York Times. Last month, Porsche delayed its all-electric versions of the 718 Boxster and Cayman for the second time, citing difficulty sourcing the models' high-performance battery cells. In April, Porsche said drivers could expect the two electric vehicles (EVs) in 2026, but its most recent delay pushes the release to at least 2027. Porsche has scaled back its financial outlook for 2025 by about 2 billion euros ($2.28 billion), with an expected profit margin range decline of between 6.5% and 8.5% from 10% to 12%. Oliver Blume's desire to maintain Porsche's prices and keep the company's production out of the U.S. makes it likely that the automaker will raise its lineup's costs. Blume, who is also Volkswagen Group's CEO, confirmed he spoke directly to the U.S. commerce secretary, Howard Lutnick, in Washington, D.C., but agreed with Lutnick to keep the conversation's details confidential. However, Porsche is far from the only company that could increase prices because of tariffs, and some of Volkswagen Group's other subsidiaries, such as Audi, can ease tariff impacts with increased U.S. manufacturing. Porsche's approach is more likely to hurt the company in its second-largest market, China, as the country's electric vehicle price war heats up. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc.
